You can check the GOALS section to see what percentage of macro-nutrients you are eating. You can also change your percentage goals for each category if you want to eat more protein or carbs than recommended. Nutrition is a complex calculation for an app - much much harder to track than simple calories. Good luck and eat…

Trust me there are different types of pain. If you feel like you pulled something, don't push on!

Water aerobics. Hands down best. Some gyms have warm water pools and classes. Worth a drive if possible.

Peggy Cappy, too!

My doctor recommended Esmonde classical stretch dvds. Really great ex dancer with pain and injuries does yoga and pilates inspired moves. A lot of it is done standing too. She was on PBS for a long time. Her daughter does Essentrics but it's too much for me.

Free weights with a body ball for stability.

True!

I total the individual measurements for each, ingredients then divide.

I'm like this, I think it's my brain chemistry. I'm pretty obsessive compulsive, so I've decided to go with it. As long as I am not binging too much or starving, I think it's OK, but that's me. I do let myself have a free day every week but still eat within reason, but avoid trigger foods. Good luck!

Ugh, that must hurt! I have problem feet and chronic pain. Water aerobics if you have pool access are helpful -they did alot for my weight and strength a few years ago. Send me a friend request!

I'm a total apple at 5'4" 145 pounds, size 12 with a 32 inch waist at the skinny part. I wish i had pictures of me at about 137 with size 30 waist and size 10. I look a lot better. My butt gets even flatter but i think 30 squats every other day would help. Good luck to you -a couple sizes and toning goes a long way.

Pulls at my heart strings...my father died of lung disease. Good on you for turning it around!

Try egg white from a carton of egg beaters. If you nuke them in a microwave for a minute, they cook well and you'll have protein with little fat or calories.
-
Good for you!

I'm the same and will need to have my cholesterol checked soon at 35%fat. I lost a lot of weight on a low fat diet some years ago, but my good cholesterol dipped low (as did the bad stuff). I started eating a lot of flax seed, and my good cholesterol went into a healthy range. My bad cholesterol went up too, but less than…

Beans! They freeze well, too, so you can take them for lunch.

Take it easy. Short walk if my feet aren't swollen and achey. Flight of stairs at work. With advil!

Wanda. 1600 cals? That's awesome. We are the same age and my bmr is more like 1200 something. Do you know what your metabolism was like before weight training??.

Chronic illness is so hard! You seem really strong and have had some major victories, though. Water aerobics teally helped me with fibromyalgia and my overall wellbeing. I need to get back on it. Don't beat yourself up for a challenge most will never know. You're an inspiration!
-
Hello Holly and others, I've had fibro for 23 years, neck injury, etc. It's hard but I manage OK most of the time. It took me many years to get to this point though. Diet, physical therapy , light exercise, medication have all played a big role. I could never do weights... I used to spend a lot of time in Epsom salted…

Shiritaki. Any sauce wipes out the trace smell. There are lots of pad thai recipes for shiritaki or "miracle noodles" out there. They taste good in Asian recipes, and in any sort of fettuccine type sauce. Not great for marinara.
-
I like cauliflower, just not as rice. Not even close. If I want rice noodles, shiritaki is good. http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/products/p/shiratakinoodle.htm

Dopeysmelly - So true, focusing on adding and not subtracting is SO helpful.
-
Feel free to add me, too. I'm aiming more for sustainability. I really don't like cycling/yo-yo dieting because it's demoralizing and can slow your metabolism a bit.
-
Yes, I also see Asians piling on the white rice, even skinny Asians. But we have higher risk of diabetes, and Asians with "healthy BMIs" get diabetes more that whites. We apparently store deep visceral fat than whites. So I'm thinking I have to seriously cut down on eating rice.
-
I guess what I'm saying is trigger foods - I'm not sure I can just eat a small portion!
-
It's great to hear some of you do eat rice and still lose or maintain. OdesAngel - I mention Asians specifically as that's the part of my heritage where my rice addition comes in the worst (but yeah, wheat is good too). I love pretty much any rice in most cuisines, but there are times that, given my brain and culture, I…

I hear you. I really think this is critical for weight loss. Eating sugar is a peak experience for me, so I have to replace it with other stuff.
-
That's amazing! How did you determine your fat loss percentage?

Every single photo I see here is an amazing transformation. Thanks for the inspiration, and stay healthy
