  • Sugar is not the cause of obesity. Eating too many calories is.[/quote] Obesity is caused by many factors - too many calories cause obesity. However, Insulin resistance may cause obesity in many individuals, and too much added/free sugar causes insulin resistance. Over time, that one coke spiking your blood glucose could…
  • Do you stretch? That might help. Or, cut back your intensity to see if you feel less achey. Also - push the water. If you don't improve, best to see a doctor. I get this way, but I have a medical condition.
  • I'm starting to get a bit of strength and definition using 3-8 pound weights. Lifting while on my back helps for some exercises. Also, I did water aerobics for a long time, using resistance barbells that help you float. The tops of my shoulders only were out of the water. You can get A LOT of resistance using this, and you…
  • You look much slimmer through the torso, and more vital and stronger. Really similar stats, too. SW 149 CW 139 GW 132 I don't do as much exercise, but I want to do more! I do brisk walking 3-4 times a week, plus light weights (old injuries), stretching and body weight excersise. I'd love to add you to see your progress.
  • 153 at your height - not bad at all. You've probably got residual pain of having been unmanageably heavy and depressed. Keep going!
  • Great for some. Cranial facial therapy helped me, and it's less intense with sone mfp. Technique and pressure are key, too. Water aerobics and light stetching also great.
  • I know. It sucks, they're like 8 oz. and not even the huge ones. I crave apples. I can get hooked on the 20 some grams of sugar they contain. I want less, but try to find a normal small apple...
  • Some people swear by it. Alton Brown. Brew it strong. You'll need to eat at deficit, and it may only help a little. Super healthy, either way. For me, strong green tea from loose leaves helps me fight fatigue...and that helps me manage my weight. Try it.

  • Treat refined sugar as an addiction and eliminate it. Stick to the MFP limits for carbs and sugars when eating fruit, starches, and plain dairy. It gets easier after a few months of elimination. You'll have more energy and less intense hunger.
  • Bullfrog, water resistant. Good stuff. If there's a hat you can wear, do. I work for a melanoma and skin cancer doctor. It's worth taking precautions.
  • Zumba is supposed to burn a lot of calories. I've never done it. All my friends say weight training.

  • Ugh, I have this problem, too. My belly starts to slim down a bit only after I've lost my butt and boobs. If would like to try interval and weight training, but I am injury prone and have some medical issues.
  • Water areobics helped me. Relief not to have to wake up with my feet killing me. Have at least 1 exercise you can do when your feet hurt. Yoga, weights...run in the pool. I stopped wearing anything but running shoes and birkenstock, ever, and that helped. See a podiatrist and ask about orthotics.
  • Cheaper WFM 365 brands such as yogurt, almond milk, eggs, frozen fruit actually save me money. Then I buy stevia, organic turkey, flax seed because I can find it there. Veggies-fruit: too expensive, often conventionally grown. Save your $.
  • I stay away from all simple refined sugar. I limit rice to occasionally plus portion control, and try to eat the brand type with the lowest GL index number. I eat fruit everyday, but try to stick to say 2-3 pieces and limit grapes, etc. I often fail on that score...I'm not a low carber but do avoid refined. I've cut out…
  • 1 tbs raw cacao powder in a cup of plain yogurt. A few drops of stevia for me. Less than 30 cals for the powder. Hits the spot, lots of antioxidants.
  • Fibromyalgia for over 20 years. Water aerobics at the Y in a warm, deep water pool was amazingly helpful. At first I just had years of physical therapy with cranial sacral massag, then worked up to extecise. Light, modified yoga was helpful too. I was incapacitated for a long time. Things are OK now.
  • Water areobics in the warm water deep pool at the Y was a huge step for me beginning to manage my FM.
  • This is true.
  • Miralax, Citrucel, magnesium up to the upper dose limit. Flax seed ground helps some people. You need both soluble and insoluble fiber. Avocados have both plus fat. Google for food sources. I don't personally recommend Metamucil / psyllium supplements. These can give too much soluble roughage, plus they can irritate your…
  • I think I took Classical Stretch Back Pain Relief and Prevention. There are others, check on Amazon and read the helpful reviews. I'd get a short, cheaper one like that one to see if you like it before ordering a season. Also, check your local library dvd section...my library had her stuff. The 30 min workouts she does are…
  • Deep water aerobics, the best for injuries, chronic conditions, pregnancy, or just preventing injuries. Anyone can get a great workout - you get your weight training, pilates, and cardio in one shot! Helped me a lot.
  • I've got fibromyalgia. Everyone seemed to want to start me on weights when i first developed the condition. I had minor injuries and stopped. Water aerobics was what worked best for me, plus some modified yoga-calesthenics and light walking. After many years I can do some very light free weights.
  • 2 years for such a radical transformation is pretty fast. Congratulations!
  • You need more protein and much less white flour and refined carbs, etc as others suggest. You'll need to allow some weeks to get used to eating less refined food ansd sugars. More veggies, some fruit You can use the Goals tab of MFP to input your ratio of carbs, protein, fat. Then, use the pie chart in your diary (on…
  • Magnesium citrate is incredible for relaxation, for everyone, and helps with cramping . I take D for health and well-being , too. My doctor recommended I avoid all multivitamins, as the latest research shows they're linked to cancers...
  • I finally realized there are just a few things I really can't eat, like cake and ice cream. I do eat treats but somethings just get my brain chemistry too worked up. This is the opposite of the "moderation" model, much more an "addiction" model. It it works better for me. Good luck!
  • You can actually gain weight if you have too little sleep, poor quality sleep, or wildly erratic sleep patterns.
