  • I've tried dozens of different brands but have settled on Kaizen Naturals Whey Protein Isolate. It's not sickly sweet with tons of sucralose or aspartame, but uses Stevia instead (and not an ungodly amount). It's not the cheapest protein, but all the cheaper ones I've tried were very chalky and had to be mixed with milk.…
  • low carber here, currently striving for 40% protein, 35% fat, and 25% carbs. always looking for low carber friends to share food diaries with for meal ideas.
  • Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky for me, had my weekly weigh in and was down 3.2 lbs from last week. Adding some extra cardio was a great suggestion, i think my results were a combination of that, and more strict food logging.
  • most supplements are for competitive bodybuilders and athletes. the only ones i'd recommend for the average joe would be a good multivitamin and some whey protein. it's hard to meet daily protein requirements, plus if you lift weights then whey is the fastest way to feed your muscles after the workout.

  • I do 30 mins of steady state cardio (cycling/jogging) fasted upon waking in the morning, six days a week, and 30 mins of weight training 4 days a week (alternating push/pull workouts).
  • I recently upped my calories because i wasn't seeing any change after 4 weeks, and figured 1200 was too low for me. I dropped 2 lbs within 48 hours of making that change but the past week i've held steady again. while it's better than gaining, I'm a little bummed by not dropping more. I'm stricter with my logging than i…
  • i try to avoid olive oil in cooking, as I have heard it can be carcinogenic at high heat. i usually use avocado oil, which has a higher smoke point. since meeting my fat requirements isn't usually much of a problem i tend to just grill my chicken breasts with some black pepper, cayenne, and a splash of Worchestershire…

  • you do lose weight by eating more if you were too far under your TDEE to begin with. starving yourself makes your body go into survival mode. I don't claim to be an expert, this is just what several of the "experts" at MFP suggested to me when i posted almost the exact same thread. if the OP isn't restricting caloric…
  • I lost 13 lbs in 4 weeks and then nothing for the next 4 weeks. I upped my calories by 400 and have started to drop pounds again.
  • Hello from Goulds, NL :)
  • really appreciate the input and constructive criticism folks. I've been suspicious of MFP's suggested calorie intake being excessively low. I followed Raspberry's link to get a second opinion of my TDEE and at 5'7" with approx 30% bodyfat it tells me I should be taking in 2126 calories for "reckless" weight loss. Would…

  • Count me in, I was looking to lose 40 lbs between my birthday (Jan. 16th) and May 8th as we're going on a cruise then. I've lost 13 so far, so still have 27 to go. Some extra accountability always helps.
