I'm turning 43 next week and I hit an all-time high on the scale this past year. Running out of time to turn the ship around, but i'm gonna be here every day to keep me honest. I'm terribly competitive, either in the weight room, the dojo, the track, the obstacle course, whatever. Any new friends to help keep me motivated…

my wife signed up for it and the variety of workouts available is pretty awesome. We can do cardio in the morning, resistance training on our lunch break, and yoga in the evenings. Wish they had an android app though.

feel free to add me, as I'm also looking to drop about 40 lbs of fat and replace it with 20lbs of muscle. Currently doing metcon workouts to drop half the fat, then will move back into heavy lifting. I am a daily MFP user and log religiously.

i am in the same boat. after recent gout attacks I was told by my doctor to get my uric acid levels down and switch to a low protein diet. not all proteins have the same effect on uric acid levels, mostly meats. I cut my meat intake by 75% and added eggs and greek yogurt to get my overall protein to 50% of what it was…

i can't do high protein due to gout, so I'm unable to go super low on carbs. I do try to keep the non-fibre carbs under 100g on workout days, and under 50g on rest days. if you have a lot to lose you're likely insulin-resistant (endomorph) and low carb diets get the best results. if you don't have much to lose you're…

I normally donate platelets and had done so almost 50 times without a hitch. then i visited haiti and had to go a year before i could donate platelets again, but apparantly plasma was allowed. I thought i had eaten ok before my donation but I passed out during the process and was told to wait until i could donate platelets…

lots of people recommend the Fat Shredder macro for weight loss (50P/20F/30C). That's probably only ok if eating at a severe deficit so the overall protein amounts are still now. I have reduced my protein to 25% (close to 0.5g per pound) but will probably not bring that up above 30%, keeping high purine foods to a bare…

I'm currently at a 1,000 calorie deficit to drop weight (and decrease gout risk). I had been attempting re-comp but going to try to drop 40 lbs before doing a clean bulk. 0.8 grams per pound of bodyweight is what I was aiming for, so around 160g. That would put me at about 35 % protein. If i were to eat 1.0 gram of protein…

In the past I've given up alcohol for lent, and video games, as well as junk food. I've pretty much given up both alcohol and junk food for health reasons on a year-round basis so I don't think it would serve as much of a penance choosing either of those. My pastor has often encouraged that we take up something new in…

for me it's 50/50 between vanity and stress relief. I let out a lot of aggression in the gym, so it's like anger management

I used to use Quest bars for the high fibre and low net carbs when cutting. When bulking I'd always opt for ground beef and white rice post workout. I don't eat protein bars regularly anymore due to the high cost (especially with Quest brand), but I still pick up a few for when i'm spending the day in airports or hiking in…

actually, it looks like Kai won't be competing this year. doyoueven.com/2015/09/breaking-news-kai-greene-not-allowed-to-compete-in-mr-olympia/

I'm in a similar boat (was 211 at only 5'7"). I was debating doing a crash weight loss down to 170 or so before trying to do a lean bulk back up to 185 or so. In the end I decided to focus on body recomposition. It's slower, but as i build muscle while eating at a slight surplus, that helps me burn more fat when i drop to…

Last year I'd have said Kai, but after Arnold called out the judges for the pregnant belly syndrome I feel they might go the more aesthetic route and pick someone like Shawn Rhoden. If Phil can get tighter he could win another though.

I finished my first round (90 days) of Body Beast on the 4th and after taking a week off I've started another 90-day round on the 14th. I wasn't super strict with nutrition or getting enough rest on my first go. As a result, my weight stayed largely the same, tho i did gain an inch to each arm and some visible muscle gain…

i get about 5 hours. we have two toddlers so i have to get in a run at 5:30am before we get them up for daycare (I have to lift weights on my lunch break). I've always been a night owl so find it hard to go to bed earlier, it's gonna have to happen though, pretty sure the lack of sleep is hurting my progress.

Hey folks, I'm Rob from Newfoundland, i started using MFP around 4 months ago. Was originally doing low carb weight loss with a huge deficit and lots of cardio, but have switched to a recomp plan with bodybuilding and clean eating at a slight deficit.

my wife has been doing T25 for awhile now, and recently started the Gamma level. Both her cardio and her muscle tone have improved significantly. she has amazon shoulders that she didn't have before doing the program. She HAS been taking Shakeology but i wouldn't credit all the results to that. Beyond her shake she's…

i drink about 10 cups a day of water, and then another 6 cups of green tea. So that's about 16 cups (4 Litres or 1 Gallon) altogether.

sakibihabibi: I try to do my heavier compund movements (squats/deadlifts/benches) as early in the workout as possible to have the most energy for them. I do like the idea of a split that only has me work a bodypart once a week (ie. Mon-Upper Push, Wed - Lower Body, Fri - Upper Pull). I'd be able to hit a muscle group from…

there are only 4 flavors i think that have stevia/xylitol instead of sucralose, of those i prefer the cinnamon roll flavor. for taste the chocolate chip cookie dough is my fave but i only get that if there are no cinnamon roll boxes in stock. they fit my macros and help with my daily fiber count, i do wish they were less…

my 3 year old hates meat in most forms, but i've had some success with homemade chicken nuggets, burgers, sloppy joes, and by dicing up chicken VERY finely for pizzas where i can hide it (and the spinach) under the cheese. i haven't tried tofu with him, but am trying to not expose my boys to soy protein. i'll second the…

I've dropped more than 20lbs in March, still got 20 to go so am in for April.

i love Kale chips too, we toss them in avocado oil, with a dash of sea salt and black pepper and then bake them on two cookie sheets. it's probably as close as i'll ever get to the crunch of potato chips again, haha. no idea how they can be preserved, I've seen bags of them at the local Bulk Barn, but at $5 per small bag,…

i used to weigh on mondays but since Sunday dinner with the family is such a ritual where i live, i was almost always up a couple pounds from all the sodium and starchy carbs. Now I weigh in on Fridays so i can get my weekly cheat meal at the end of a long week, and then have a full week to burn if off. less disappointment…

I add 25 grams of carbs to pre and post workout (50g total) on days that i lift weights, so while i generally eat low carb all the time, there are 4 days a week with extra carbs for workout energy.
