A registered dietitian would be your best bet on gaining weight. They helped me when I lost too much weight during radiation treatments for a tumor. The dietitians made a plan based on the foods I liked and added extras to what I liked that added calories. The dietitian can also help you plan for the right amount of…

Minimum caloric intake for women is 1200 calories. Add that to the amount of calories you burn when you work out, and that would be your total caloric intake for the day. Say you burn 350 calories on Monday, plus 1200 calories equals 1550. Try adding a weight training routine (either dumbbells, barbells or circuit…

The best way to maintain weight loss in my opinion is through journaling your caloric intake. I gained some weight back when I stopped journaling because once again, I thought I was not overeating. The only way to prove to yourself that you are taking in too many calories is to keep track of what you eat. Journaling has to…

So if you burn 500 calories a day, plus the minimum caloric intake, you should eat at least 1800 calories a day. The best book I've read (Eat Right For Life) on how and…

I haven't read all the replies, so if this is a repeat, I apologize. When you first start working out you are building muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. So on a scale, gaining weight because of exercise may be discouraging. Instead of going by weight on the scale alone, you should also measure your neck, chest and…

Yes you need to eat. Food is fuel for your body, literally. You don't want to go below 1200 calories a day, that includes calories burned. For example I usually burn 600 calories a day at the gym. So, I eat no less than 1800 calories because 1800 eaten - 600 burned = 1200 total. This is advice I got from my primary care…
