Yes, I have a sweet tooth. I try to go for lower calorie sweet options or sugar free versions and if that fails I just eat to maintenance.

40 days is just enough time for you to see fluctuations due to other factors - you may well have lost weight but things like *that time* of the month can cause weight gain due to water retention. I can gain anywhere from 1-2 kg due to water retention at that time. Also if you've had any days where you've eaten a lot of…

I have 3 pairs of decent walking shoes, 2 of them are newish - it still happens regardless of what shoes I wear. No problems with any other muscles in my legs, just that one on that side. It hurts to put any pressure on it so haven't tried a roller but will give that a go tonight. I take magnesium most days too so don't…

You have the opposite problem to my partner - he's on ADD meds and anti depressants but has trouble with over eating. Have you just started taking them recently? It can take a while for your body to adjust. Most of the literature on ADD / ADHD and nutrition says that you should ideally go for nutrient dense foods, reduce…

I'm just gonna throw this out there, but I wonder if he feels threatened about the idea of you losing weight and that's why he is being uncooperative with helping out so that you have time to look after yourself? Some guys don't want their partners to lose weight as they are insecure and feel like they will lose their…

Many of the verified entries are totally useless, e.g. 1 medium apple. What is a medium apple? Apples range massively in size and weight. Also big brand name products - the nutritional content can vary between different countries. Noticed this when checking the verified entry for Kellogg's Just Right cereal. The verified…

I have a terrible sweet tooth. What helped me was buying a particular brand of protein bars. Horley's Carb Less. They taste like a chocolate bar, but have hardly any sugar, hardly any carbs, and plenty of protein. Highly recommend them if you can get them or something similar (protein bars not to be confused with energy…

As a vegetarian of 10 years I can tell you now it's not guaranteed to make you lose weight - it all comes down to calories in vs. calories out, though there are other health benefits to reducing meat intake, especially processed meats like sausages and ham etc. There are just as many unhealthy vegetarian options, and high…

It is slow going at the end. Are you exercising at all OP? I found the only thing that got things moving again was burning an extra 50 calories per exercise session (that's going by what my treadmill says). It's not a lot extra each exercise day but adds up over the week. Unfortunately after getting to goal I put 5kg back…

I had the same problem and fixed it by adding in protein bars (not energy bars which are high calorie, high sugar). Don't know if you can get them where you are but I eat Horley's Carb Less protein bars. Good levels of protein and fibre, low carb, low calorie, and very low sugar.

I'm vegetarian, I don't like cooking and don't like to eat breakfast, and I was finding it hard to meet my protein goals and feel full when eating in a calorie deficit. I tried doing smoothies with protein powder, which did work well, but I didn't want to continue with cold smoothies over Winter and also found the clean up…

Everyone has different triggers. I didn't notice any change in frequency of migraines changing my diet, I just avoid foods that I know can trigger them. It took me a while to figure out what they were. If you've changed your diet drastically it could just be the shock to the system. If you ate a lot of sugar before and…

I weighed today - put on 3kg in the last 3 weeks, so not ideal but not too bad considering how badly I ate over Christmas and New Years! I'm small though at 5'2 so will take me a while to lose it again.

Lol I don't feel quite so bad after reading some of your comments, although I still haven't got on the scale. Planning to weigh on Monday when the routine returns to normal. All my pants still fit albeit a bit tighter and I definitely look and feel flabbier. What are tamales? A few people haven't mentioned those in this…

Well done! I look like I'm 6 months pregnant with a food baby.

Oh also, it happened slowly over a couple of years and at first I thought clothing sizes were just getting smaller until I reached the biggest I'd ever been and realised it was my weight and not the clothing!

I've despised exercise my whole life, and 2 of my favourite things are eating and sitting on the couch. This seemed to work out ok until I hit mid-20's and my body decided it was going to gain all the weight. I still hate exercise and love eating, and even though I've nearly lost all the weight I gained I think about food…

I have a sweet tooth too, especially for chocolate and cake. Here's some things that have helped me: - Spend a bit more on good quality treats, especially chocolate. Dark chocolate goes further as it's richer and more satisfying. Generally better quality tastes better and satisfies the sweet craving better, and if you've…

Nothing wrong with PB if you buy a brand that doesn't have a tonne of sugar and other stuff added. The brand I buy contains only peanuts and salt. Easy enough to make your own too - blend up some peanuts, salt and a little bit of peanut oil.

BMI isn't accurate for everyone, it really just gives you a range for a healthy weight. For example, according to BMI I am still in the healthy range (at the lower end) at 47kg. The lowest I've been as an adult is 50kg and that was when I'd been very ill for months and people kept saying I looked way too skinny (and I…

I usually gain 1-1.5kg in the 5 days before it starts, then on the day it starts it all disappears suddenly. Probably water retention. That's assuming I eat normally over that week.

Eggs if you eat them - a couple of size 8 eggs will give you about 15g of protein and also contain iron in the yolk. Protein powder added to berry or banana smoothies as well.

I always had people saying boobs would be the first thing to go, but after losing 14kg (30lb) I lost 1 band size and barely 1 cup size. Went from 34F to 32E. I think the density of a persons breast tissue has a lot to do with it too as they aren't made up just of fat. Mine is quite dense so doesn't seem to change too much…

I used to be the same as far as not liking "mock meats", most of the ones I tried had an unpleasant chemical/artifical taste. Then I tried a few more brands and found a couple that are delicious and boost my protein to where it needs to be. If you have Quorn products or Fry's vegetarian products where you are I highly…

Hey guys, after your suggestions last week I made some changes and have lost 0.9kg (nearly 2lb) since last Satuday! I threw out our old kitchen scales - I didn't realise until I mentioned it to my partner and he reminded me that they were at least 8 years old. The first thing I noticed using the new ones was that 5g of…

Your comment about progesterone is interesting - up until last year I was on the combined contraceptive pill, I would have my period like clock work every month and I would always gain up to 1kg in retained fluid in the 5 days leading up to it, which would then disappear overnight so I knew that was going to happen. My…

Thanks for the warning, I intend to start with small hand weights while on the treadmill. I do think my the amount of calories calculated as maintenance is higher than it should be, I did calculations on a bunch of other websites and they all vary hugely.
-
And wouldn't you know it, my kitchen scales just broke so now I definitely have to go out and buy new flash ones today!

I exercise 3-5 days a week, and do lots of housework other than that I do sit a lot. I have just noticed today my stomach looks smaller and thighs feel firmer even though that doesn't translate to a weight loss on the scale, perhaps it will drop again in the next couple of weeks. I know that the number on the scale doesn't…

Last week was when I last weighed myself. My actual weight hasn't changed for about 3 months. I just would have expected a small loss given the extra exercise I've been doing.
