I’ve never gone to the gym while on vacation, but I do try to be as active as possible. It also depends on what kind of vacation you’re on. If it’s a vacation with a lot of sitting around and eating, I would probably take advantage of the hotel gym.

I’ve struggled with BED for years and someone recommended Brain Over Binge to read. It was one of the worst books I’ve ever read. It was truly awful and didn’t help me at all. I’m glad I didn’t buy it.

My dad was the same, except he would say “Go play in traffic.” That makes him sound like a horrible person, lol!

My dad was born in the 50s and my grandmother did not cook, so he and his brother were raised on processed food and fast food. They were in their teens/20s in the 70s and they were both very thin, but it wasn’t because they ate home cooked meals, because they didn’t. My grandma and great grandma were also thin, but they…

They’re not that filling. No more than normal bread. I could have eaten all 4, that’s why I only made 1. Less temptation.
-
Made these the other day, and they’re great. So easy to make!
-
This looks delicious!
-
How exactly?
-
Not always. My parents always cooked healthy home made meals from scratch. No junk food was ever allowed, we went out to eat maybe twice a year, and exercise wasn’t optional. They were very much into health and fitness. Snacks were always chopped raw vegetables and fruit. Our basement had work out equipment and weights…

Ooh, thanks! The “protein” in your title made me almost not click on this because recipes with “protein” in them usually involve protein powder and I don’t buy protein powder. These look really good!

It does say it’s coming to Co-op, and that’s great because we have those in Alberta and there’s one 5 minutes from my house, but they’re not known for having low prices. I’m hoping that one of the Loblaws stores that carries it is Superstore. That would be the best place to get it I think.
-
Carbs aren’t just calories, though. They also have micronutrients. Unless we are just talking about straight up white sugar.
-
Yeah, just realized it was imported. I looked around online to see if it will be coming to Alberta and the stores it will be in are Metro Ontario, some Loblaw stores, Co-op, Whole Foods, and Save on Foods, so it looks like it will be everywhere in March.
-
Found this info on reddit, btw. $9.99. Crazy! Maybe if some larger stores like Loblaws or Walmart carry it they’ll be able to charge less.
-
Anyone know if Halo Top is actually coming to Canada, or if it’s just a Toronto thing? Saw somewhere online that someone in Toronto already found some and it’s $9.99 for a pint. That is way too expensive for me if that’s how much they will actually be selling it for.

I highly doubt that most cereal eaters are eating cereals like that. Some? Sure. But most? Not likely. It seems your argument is that most people are too stupid to understand what carbohydrates actually are, and think that the word carbs is just a synonym for junk food, so we need to tell people not to eat carbs because if…

I used to buy these freeze dried fruits in the baby section and they’re really good, especially the strawberry and mango ones. I added them to cereal and ate them by themselves. That’s as far as I’d go with eating baby food, though! Plus they’re really expensive.

I always weigh my liquids because the website I use to track my foods has gram measurements for liquids, and I can’t be bothered to dirty measuring spoons and cups. If there is any error I figure it’s not big enough to make any difference.
-
Okay, but the word “carbs” does not mean empty calorie food or junk food. Fruits are high carb foods. Vegetables are high carb foods. Grains and beans and lentils are high carb foods. You don’t need to limit carbs just so you don’t fill your entire day with snack cakes. Some high carb foods may have little nutrients, but…

Potato chips are mostly fat, they aren’t a high carb food. Baked potatoes would be a high carb food.
-
Weird… I didn’t know that. Thanks!
-
They probably have to change their packaging to include French, and they just can’t be bothered to do that.

I went to schools in Canada and the US (Alberta and Washington state). Maybe they were small? I didn’t think they were that small, they were pretty normal schools. My high school had a cafeteria where you could buy food, but it wasn’t very good and most people didn’t eat from there. I remember everyone bought hash browns…

I went to a few schools when I was growing up, and none of them served lunch. Everyone either went home for lunch or brought their own. Is it a normal thing for schools to serve lunch to kids? The only food I remember being served was a snack in kindergarten, and it was cheez whiz on saltine crackers, and it was awful!

That’s what I thought, lol! I asked my husband how hard he thought it would be to milk a raccoon.
-
This! Spam or ham, both are great with Mac and cheese! Canned tuna as well would be good.

Yes, eating more makes me hungrier as well! That’s why I hate taking diet breaks and eating at maintenance. I always end up really hungry and have a hard time dropping my calories again. It’s much easier to just eat low calorie all the time.
-
I stop eating between 3 and 4pm. I go to bed at 7, so there’s usually 3-4 hours between eating and sleeping. I get heartburn if I eat closer to bed time.
-
Yes, that’s why low carb was so frustrating to me. Everyone always talked about how eating that way took their hunger away, and it didn’t matter how low I took my carbs and how much fat and vegetables I ate, I was always so hungry. By the end of the 2 years I had put on 40lbs from just eating enough to try to feel full.…

I need starchy carbs. Bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, anything like that. Beans and lentils as well. I did low carb for 2 years and I was always hungry. I can have 6 eggs cooked in fat and be hungry an hour later, but 1 egg on a piece of toast will last me all morning. Large amounts of vegetables don’t do it for me either.…
