  • I made a deal with my trainer for one session a month so she can take my measurements and adjust my programme to suit my progress. I did it this way to save money and because I feel I have the discipline to do the work on my own in between sessions. So as said before, up to you but also, shop around, get recommendations…
  • I'm in. I have an active lifestyle and been vego for years and years. I'm learning food discipline at the moment because I'm a bit lazy in the kitchen. FR me!
  • +1 On days I feel the hangry grump coming on or if I know it will be a busy day, I log in advance so that my meals and treats are planned. Give it a go.

  • I'm embarrassed for making that assumption, thank you for being cool about it.
  • I would suggest that if you work with your hands a lot, you will find that you try to 'clean' your nails a lot with your teeth. I would also suggest that biting nails has something to do with diet or anxiety and you will always be tempted until you work out what it is that makes this a compulsion. Keratin is a type of…
  • I stopped smoking cigarettes one day about 16 or 17 years ago. A few weeks later, I noticed that I had not been biting my nails at all since that decision. Up until that point, and for as long as I could remember, I had always bitten my nails down to the flesh. Yuck. Now I have little kids and I am aware of what people…
  • Oh, I should add, the biggest difference to managing my food and getting it right: buying and using a digital food scale. I now measure everything and it really does make a difference.
  • Mud run is not for the faint, not that one anyway, it requires a great deal of all round strength as there are military styled obstacles scattered throughout the course, as well as the mud and inevitable rain that time of year. The iron tablets make a noticable difference but I also don't depend on them. I eat other things…
  • You're welcome to friend/check out my diaries. I'm vegetarian and have been for about 25 years. I'm motivated to complete Tough Guy and Gal (a local 12km mud run) in late August, in a great time and have been training for this for a while, so I guess you could say I'm 'toning up'. I tried protein shakes and found after two…
  • Pick a goal that is just beyond your reach and visualise yourself on the podium. When you get there, already have plans for the next goal. Works for me.
  • If you mean the food is so bad, you'd rather face armed angry people, then yeah, I tried it. I was the strongest I'd ever been; lean, slightly muscular and I could march 25kms in full battle gear and a 25km backpack. To be fair though, I think the daily physical routine at our posting in arid land had a lot to do with it.
  • @Kaylabooboo2525: It depends what you mean by 'proper nutrition'. Your diary is hidden so it's hard to pass comment. I've been vegetarian for a long time (over 25 years now) and had no health issues related to food/nutrition - I do eat eggs and dairy products, though not 'a lot' at all. I run about 30kms a week and workout…
  • As some have said, I'd consider sticking to the program and making incremental increases each week to what is required, if the program already does not do this. The trouble is, if you go too hard, you can injur yourself and find that you cannot do any training for a few weeks while you recover. If you follow the program…
  • Try to work out why you want to get high. I mean the real reasons you want to be detached. Then, try to work out what it is you are trying to fill in your life with the food you crave. For this step, I recommend you get a counsellor to talk to about your past or your disappointments in life etc. , the things that bubble to…
  • Throw away your scale and only use the one at your local gym. It's likely more accurate and while you're there you can hop on a bike or treadmill.
  • I'd go so far as to specifically say - get a digital scale. I had a spring loaded scale for a while and the differences between the two was about 10%. Think about the last few kilos that can't be shifted - do they add up to about 10% of your current body weight? The price of my scale was about $10 excluding the batteries -…
  • @sjohnson__1, @strong_curves: I like the refreshing fizz of soft drinks/sodas rather than the content. In fact, I ditched soda because lately, it started to taste too sweet. In it's place, soda water with a twist of lime or a sliced up strawberry for flavour. But keeping the to OP, same as some here, I didn't quit any…
  • As above, single dad with two 5 year olds (twins). I gym during lunch and make up work time if need be when I don't have my kids. I have a desk job, so I can eat at my desk. We go out biking on weekends - kids bike, I run. Usually managing two is a challenge, so I usually have one on my shoulders when we are out - makes a…
  • We have a cafeteria at my workplace and I have requested them to weigh food for me before. Initially, they must have thought me a tight person who wants to know value for money, but after telling them I am on a strict diet, they're okay with it. Six months of this and I have noticed there are a lot of compliments all of a…
  • Take the hit and in your notes add that you changed scales - if you have a dumbbell or other fixed weight at home, you can use it to check the new scale is more or less accurate. I realised my digital bathroom scale is not 100% - take three measurements of yourself 20 minutes apart and see.... I decided to only use the gym…
  • Even when they are young, you still need that strength and flexibility to swing them up onto your shoulders when shopping or a strong back to run behind them on tricycles etc. It's all odd angles and lots of bending over - I have twins, they are now 5 and I'm thankful I have energy and strength to manage and run after…
  • This. It's hard to help or suggest something if your diary is closed. You can open it for a week and close it again if you feeling shy but still want some advice, or we're all just going to guess.
  • First off, no, you're not a bad person, so let that one go. Secondly being a vegetarian is not easy and some people will find that they are surrounded by poorer sources of nutrition than others. I've been a very strict vegetarian for about 25 years and I recall in my twenties I ate a lot of processed foods because that was…
  • You can eat too much fibre and too much vitamin C. Take care.
  • I have a daughter I would sacrifice everything for and I feel like I can relate to your situation but from the other side of the fence. Sit him down and tell him that you would like to take the reigns of your life for a while. Tell him that he has inspired you to be independent and powerful, but you'll always use the…
  • So, I got my digital scale today - unbelievable difference in portions. I'd stay and talk about it, but I need to go outside and kick myself for not getting one 6 months ago. To everybody who does not portion with a digital scale - just get one, there is nothing else to discuss about it.
  • No. I'd say don't go under about 1200 because you'll end up with all kinds of problems and possibly an eating disorder. When I have big days like that, I make an effort to workout a little more over the coming days, but still give myself the nutrition my body requires - a few weeks ago, I had a massive night out, drank a…
  • Awesome work, that's a great transformation!
