  • Hamilton, New Zealand.
  • Vegetarian for years and years and on-and-off fitness/running habits over those years. I've never had a problem with carbs, in fact, I've never counted my intake like this site does until I got to this site a few months ago. You're welcome to friend me and see my diary, it's pretty simple but so is my approach to eating.
  • Do you have tangible goals?
  • This. You are sabotaging yourself, might as well find out why.
  • People I know have stopped buying food for me (I'm okay with that).
  • Nobody can do this journey for you. Nobody can make you eat right, do your groceries, cook your food or eat right for you, here. If it hurts when you move, then start moving at a slower pace and gradually build up. If you find the taste of food to be a problem, start by cutting back on the dressing (which is changing your…
  • My advice as somebody who is also self conscious: Just go. You're lapping everybody on the couch and it only takes a few weeks to form a solid habit (and see and feel results). You will only improve over time and with a reasonable amount of activity and gym is designed for just that. Besides which, everybody who is anybody…
  • Vegetarian here, not looking to lose weight though, but looking to go from poor food habits and sedentary lifestyle to competitive sports. Friend me if you have taken the time to fill in your profile details...
  • Interesting, but yuck. Malai Kofta (richotta like cheese balls in cashew nut gravy with basmati rice)?
  • A cheat day means I can hang out with my kids and we can eat something treat-y together without me enforcing my diet on them. Also, I do try to keep it a 'clean'-ish treat, like homemade French fries or homemade pizza. But yeah, as said, make it a treat meal rather than a treat day.
  • I don't buy sundried tomatoes because I know, I'd eat the whole jar in one sitting. Odd that they are not yum, I do find that there is a great difference between brands in terms of taste and it seems to boil down to the oil that is used in preparation. I'd get some olive oil on a low heat, fresh basil, chopped and very…
  • I once overheard an old lady saying that men will stick with any woman who can fill his belly and empty his sack, daily. I think this is oversimplified but not far off the mark for most guys while for a select few, it's a metaphor, but rather accurate. I like to have natural fun, lots of laughs, support in the tough times…
  • I like that you mentioned you got through blue and lost your apprehension. It is a colour associated with depression and I think it's a fitting metaphor for where you are now. Well done and full points that you took your kid through as well
  • http://www.iflscience.com/health-and-medicine/how-fasting-might-make-our-cells-more-resilient-stress I saw this on the weekend and it promotes a similar lifestyle, with a scientific view. As somebody who fasts occasionally, I am happy to be redeemed by this as fasting works for me in times of stress or anxiety and I can…
  • Yup. I'm here. I have a complete bio, FR me if you're interested.
  • I read most of this and I think it has your answer, particularly if you look at the stats of the OP. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1276219/i-went-from-morbidly-obese-to-6-pack-abs-ask-me-anything
  • Most gyms I have been to will offer an introduction with any sign up and this usually includes a weigh-in and a basic program if you ask. This is a good starting point. As you go on, when things feel easier, increase the intensity of your work out by either increasing the weights or repetitions based on what you want to…
  • I have little kids, so I only get my lunch breaks guaranteed to myself. The gym is 1.5miles from my workplace, so I take advantage of that and run there and back with a 30mins workout in between, 5 days a week. On weekends I take up the odd physical activity, running, biking, swim etc. I am lucky to live in a small town…
  • Whoa. Hang on there, you've totally underestimated your awesome. 10 pounds is a good, safe and often recommended amount of loss for a little over a month. 2.2pounds AVERAGE per week is sustainable. Stick to it, you are doing well and for some reason you cannot see the greatness you are becoming. Keep on swimming!
  • I noticed my biggest loss when I stopped drinking every night, but I have never stopped altogether, in fact, I brew my own beer (by the truckload), so I'd have to sacrifice one hobby to support a new lifestyle? I think not. The difference now is that I drink when I have earned it by changing my social activities that…
  • Vegetarian. I find I have to pad up (with beer, too!) or MFP won't allow me to close the day off. Mostly, I'm not in love with food, so it is easy to ignore eating or find myself exhausted because I forgot a meal. If you are vegetarian with some strength goals, feel free to FR me.
  • Don't beat yourself up, you are allowed to take days off sometimes. I suppose if you can find it in yourself to balance those calories out with some exercise in the next few days, you'll be good. Good luck and be strong.

  • I had this issue and fixed it with a week long course of supermarket brand probiotics. Just one of those little bottles a day made all the difference. Of course, standard disclaimer about how we all different and we all have different diets/bodies/needs etc. Specifically, this one: http://goo.gl/igcTVW EDIT: I only did…
  • I've come back after a while and started a new log/account. I'd be interested in having motivational friends that are looking to get leaner/younger rather than lose a lot of weight, particularly if you're a strict vegetarian.
