yep - going grain free (i ate primal/paleo even before going lchf) has helped me in tons of ways unrelated to weight loss. no more sinus infections, eczema, hypoglycemia... clearer headed, more energy, etc. - the list goes on. i just feel better without it.

sashimi, squid salad, steak. lots of good low carb options at a japanese restaurant!

i love the super hard crunchy ones from the mexican market (can't remember the brand) but the mission ones are good too, and much more "fluffy." i can't do the flavored ones because msg makes me horribly sick.

yum! thanks!

also forgot to mention two other things i have noticed: my skin is looking a ton better (even toned, hydrated) and i am way less grumpy. (i am heading into my second month of keto and this stuff just continues to improve).

yum!

growing up - meat & potatoes, mostly whole foods, some fast food teens & 20s - vegetarian (some s.a.d. but relatively 'healthy': fruit, veg, whole grains, lotsa cheese & nut butters, soy based crap) early 30s - back to meat eating, more whole foods, still eating plenty of bread (though it was sprouted grain stuff &…

ha! that's how i used to feel about pâté! now i just eat it with a spoon.. (: love guac. on my eggs!

mine is open but some days only the carbs are logged. feel free to browse march though; should give you a fairly good idea of what i eat.

i drink water. lots and lots. supplement salt (high quality salt - redmond's or himalayan) - first thing in the morning i either have lemon water or bone broth and add 1/2 tsp salt to either. salt food liberally. natural calm at night (and sometimes in my lemon water in the a.m.) for potassium - lots of spinach, sardines,…

i love peach wedges wrapped in prosciutto with basil and thrown on the grill. don't know how many carbs but likely less than dried apricots.

hello all! it's been a good week. i am only weighing at the end, but my clothes are definite continuing to fit better. i am sleeping well and waking up energized and have more energy for workouts. (this is also my first week entirely sans caffeine - though i had been cutting down). i have been experimenting with different…

so loving this challenge. i had charcuterie, jalapeño stuffed olives and chicharrones three hours ago, and i've never felt to satisfied. i thought that was a snack, but i haven't been hungry for dinner at all!

oh, and how many patties do you make per pound? and shaping tips? i think i have gotten the hang of 'dimpling' and usually make 1/4 lb. patties, but i am always open to other ideas!
-
thanks twibbly, that sounds yummy! do you have a guesstimate as to how long per side you do? do you start with the pan searing hot?
-
well, favorite method, i should say.

my weight can fluctuate several lbs. day to day just from random factors like water retention, my cycle, regularity, etc. i get a lot more peace of mind by only weighing once a month, at exactly the same spot in my cycle.

wow, sorry you're dealing with this. :-( my fuzzy - headed - ness (not as severe, but sounds similar) has happened when my electrolytes are off (messes with my blood pressure) or blood sugar is low. good luck, hope you get it figured out!

cardio in and of itself is not "bad for you, " per se. i think that conventional wisdom with regard to cardio being the be-all end-all is changing. walking your dogs is a very normal, functional activity. i walk 15-30 mins a day most days. the cardio that is going to elevate cortisol is sustained, high intensity endurance…

looks good! wow - big ol' batch! (:

B) sound yummy!

i try to keep it simple. sometimes i brown or roast the bones, but often if i am short on time i won't. cover (just) bones with water. add bay leaf. (add mirepoix if i have time which i remove after 24 hours). splash of vinegar. bring to a boil, simmer hard 5-10 mins, then low & slow (like just the occasional bubble) for…

i used to do endurance running. sometimes i miss the endorphin high. my body did not thank me, however. i feel best doing short, higher intensity workouts (interspersed with rest breaks) a few times per week (kettlebells or bodyweight), walking 4-5 days a week, and a few days of yoga.

well i made it through the seder intact. i ate some things i normally would not have (matzah & a tiny bit of grape juice as part of the seder, choc. covered strawberries, a macaroon and a couple roasted new potatoes), and was over my usual carb limit (normally 20, i was just over 50) but i didn't go crazy and i will just…
