This exactly. The sugar/drug study they used as "proof" was rats. Rats are not humans. Most of their science was utterly wrong. Lusting as a resource? Please. The fact that they said literally "It is impossible to count calories. No one can do it." Bothered me so badly. They took away all of the personal responsibility…

You ma'am, are absolutely my favorite person on this website. Every post that you make is strong with the sensible, and it's very much appreciated!

My most annoying was when I was talking to a coworker of mine while happily munching on fruit. He offered me pizza, and I said no thank you, and my bf started teasing me about missing milk. The coworker was so surprised to hear I was vegan, because I hadn't mentioned it on my own before. He asked me why, and I told him I…

You heard wrong. There is no scientific evidence to back up the fear mongering around artificial sweeteners. Use whatever taste best to you.

I am a weirdo who doesn't like the taste of sugar in my tea, but I do like slightly sweetened tea, so I use stevia drops. It doesn't taste like sugar, but it is sweet. You'll either love it or hate it, and I love it, personally.

I started drinking tea to cut down on soda. I was literally drinking a full two litter a day and no water. Or nothing but sugary, crazy sweet tea. I found out I hate most green teas and "standard" black tea. What I found that I love is herbal teas, white teas (so yummy!) and oolong tea. As for black tea, I do like earl…

Literally everything this person said is 100% correct. I just want to say, "Ditto" to everything in the above post.

Measuring cups can be very inaccurate. You'll find most people on here recommend getting a food scale. I got one from walmart for ten bucks and it's been a godsend. I don't think most people can eyeball their food with accuracy, so my vote is just get a scale.

I would say you are lightly active probably. I have selected lightly active as my activity level, and my fitbit normally doesn't mess with my calorie allotment when I'm around 4000/7000 steps. Lower than that and it takes away calories and any higher than that it give me more to eat. Try lightly active, stick with it for a…

Woah there buddy. I find that a bit offensive, to say the least. Not everyone announces their "vegan-ness" thank you very much. I think at my work, maybe two of my coworkers (out of fifty) know that I'm vegan. And that's because they are close friends and I thought it might be helpful if they knew that I don't eat meat. I…

Vegan here. I did make the jump five years ago after seeing a PETA booth at a gay pride festival, and being a fifteen year old girl who loved her animals, I went vegetarian cold tofurky that day. About a year ago I went full tilt vegan, and couldn't be happier about it. For me, it's all ethical. I don't want to eat animals…

For a normal, healthy person I would say don't worry about it. Many of the negative effects of saturated fat has been largely debunked, and the FDA is removing their warning to reduce saturated fats. However, in your case, talk to your doctor and see if saturated fat is something you should even worry about. Also, if you…

Vegetarian for five years, vegan for one her. I've tried everything I can find, and for the most part, I've been unimpressed with a lot of them. Vegan cheese wise Daiya is "okay". Stoneyfield soy yogurt is amazing! Boca burgers are good, and Morning star sausages and burgers are the best I've ever tried! However, most of…

Nope nope nope. While the poster was very friendly, starvation mode in this context is a myth. But seriously, listen to the other peeps who posted and don't deprive yourself today. Just log it and move on. Best of luck hun!

Five year vegetarian here! I second the B12 suggestion. It's impossible, without eating fortified foods, (Unless you are eating your vegetables straight from the ground without washing them or rinsing off the dirt) to get B12 in a vegan diet. A lot of vegan foods are fortified with it, such as Nasoya Tofu, Nutritional…

It doesn't kill your metabolism. Eat when you're hungry. My average portion size is dictated by how hungry I am and how many calories I have to eat in the day. Normally, my day goes something like eat a very small breakfast, usually right around 200/300 calories. A snack for about a hundred calories. Lunch is about 500…

A lot of girls I know that have gotten the depo shot has gained 5/10 pounds. I would chalk it up to increased appetite, so if you stick with you calorie limit you should be fine. My little sister has become a ravenous cavern since she started, so her weight gain is due to her eating more, not the birth control making her.…

Hello! Fellow Endo-er here. I've had it for six years now. I had pretty severe pain for about a week total out of the month. There isn't anything pre or post workout I do, besides taking pain medication as needed. If it's super bad, I take it easy, a light walk or some yoga. The most important thing is that I do it every.…

Bumpity bump. Also another vote for sticky.

I'm from Alabama and now live in Florida (which is geographically more Southern but culturally not so) and was having a conversation with this lady from Georgia, and when referencing another person, I said "Bless that babies heart." And she simply nodded. We both knew what we meant, but this other guy, (Not Southern)…

Oh! Oh! I have stories for you! Firstly, a really good friend of mine has subscribed to the primal diet. Fine, whatever works for you, right? But, he tries to tell me that grains will slowly kill me, sugar is toxic and is automatically turned to fat because your body can't put out enough insulin, quotes marksdailyapple at…

Tons of veggie groups, just take a look.

I'm 5'3 and I think my goal is 120. My goal may change as I get closer to my goal weight. I know I would like to be in the middle of a healthy bmi, and 120 puts my smack dab in the middle of it. I really don't know if 120 will look good on my or not, because I have never been that small except for when I flew past that…

I'm a current heavy girl (overweight by fifty pounds) and I've been going to the gym around 7 in the morning for two weeks now. When I got to the gym it's mostly empty besides my friend and I, a handful of people at the weights (men and women) and several older (60-80 years old) people exercising. Yesterday I went over to…

I tend to be low on my protein most days, so I do occasionally eat a protein bar that is also super tasty, or I might use protein powder if I'm super low. However, you should definitely add protein rich foods. Meat, beans, tofu, dairy, eggs, basically what others have listed. Start with food, if you can't get it high…

Stronglifts gets my vote. I'm also fifty pounds overweight and super weak. Been going to the gym for two weeks, and today started stronglifts. I had to modify some of the weight, but I did it. Seems more fun that cardio to me personally. My advice is just go do it, and if needed, adjust to a point that it is doable for you.

That goal is way to high. Set a more achievable goal, because you won't hit 30 pounds lost by June.

Actually, soy doesn't affect estrogen. Soy contains phytoestrogens which bro science is woefully confused about. What to know what else has phytoestrogen? Alfalfa Anise seed Apples Baker's yeast Barley Beets Carrots Cherries Chickpea Cowpeas Cucumbers Dates Eggplant Fennel Flaxseeds Garlic Hops Oats Olive oil Olives Papaya…
