  • As the others are saying I found that I was better off not to attempt to log strength training and only half of the duration (time) of the cardio claims in MFP. I think the cardio numbers are reflecting the numbers displayed on the equipment, which are inflated to aid in sales of those products. Case in point that - If I…
  • Decent chance that with 118 pages of comments on this thread that it's already been said ... but I'll risk repeating. I keep seeing comments about being "intimidated" to go heavy with lifting, or step into the perceived "zone" of the free weight part of the gym only for the gym rat do you even lift brahs, etc. As a guy who…
  • While I agree that no specific routine "spot reduces fat", I would offer some defense to DawnTSwink that I have noticed that when I have done more 'keto like' macro eating days in succession (lower carbs, but more specifically no processed "chips"/crackers/deserts, etc.) that I don't feel bloated in my mid-section and as…
  • Not being woken up near as often by wife pushing my shoulder to make me turn to my side after falling asleep on my back (i.e. snoring is decreasing with the continued slow/steady weight loss)
  • I'm on a 2 month plateau as well after losing 35lbs previous 5 months. I'm also an experienced MFP user/logger. In my case I'll admit the scale not moving is mildly annoying, but my waistline continues to slowly shrink (same clothing becoming loose) and most of my fitness activities include some level of resistance…
  • I also don't post much out here, mostly read what others share as motivation/support ... but your post compels me to offer some advice (maybe you already know, but I'll offer just in case). 'Moobs' are flattened out with weight loss & pectoral muscle development. Pushups, benchpress, etc. are the "anti-moobs" exercises to…
  • The amazing powers of the internet ... talking about poop (literally) with internet "strangers", what a world we live in these days  But seriously, Thank You for the reply, my issues are in the "constipation" end of the spectrum, so per your "would not recommend this" statement relative to that condition, I'll stay…

  • Tell me more about this "raw fiber" that you speak of :) I'm not in the IBS-D camp, but diagnosed with (with CT scan to validate) mild diverticulitis and have had to increase my daily fiber to ~35g per day to keep things moving along and feel much better (the feelings of "bloat" come back for a day or two when I don't meet…

  • There's a meal prep section dedicated to chicken based dishes over on fitmencook.com I tried the pineapple pepper chicken over riced cauliflower and was very impressed. Good taste and unique combination of ingredients from my perspective. I'll be trying other recipes from there in the near future.
  • For what it's worth, I once read that if you hold the avocado and apply modest pressure with your thumb it's ripe if it "gives" a little ... if it doesn't budge at all then it won't be ripe for a couple days, if it feels very soft with little pressure applied then it's over-ripe. Realize those are some very subjective…
  • Interesting... I didn't consider avocado as a replacement to mayo in egg salad. I always have some hard boiled eggs on hand for healthy snack alternatives, If you don't mind sharing your avocado egg salad recipe I'd certainly be willing to give it a go. Thanks in advance!
  • Not sure if you like avocados?, but they are a good source of 'healthy fat' with half of one providing 19g fat for only 105 calories... Avacado - Medium Avacado, 1/2 Avacado (128g) 105 calories, 2g protein, 19g fat, 3, 0, 6 carbs
  • Cool, that's why I shared/posted... easy prep, quick lunch Yeah, I just grabbed the starkist albacore out of the cupboard but if you already have a "go to" variety then I wouldn't think it would alter the taste that much.
  • Yep, the pico was left over from another dish and was just a nice short cut, but I liked how the cilantro in this pico paired with the tun and this particular brand of pico already had some jalapeno added. I guess another option would be to just stir the tuna into guacomole but it seems like most of the pre-made guac at my…
  • Yes... was just sharing this in conversation with a friend recently. Fresh fruit is finally a staple in my daily CI and I'm pleasantly surprised how it only continues to taste better as I've eliminated the high corn syrup sodas and cut back significantly on the amount of processed "sugar added" foods I consume. With those…
  • Use the free time to move... if the gym isn't your thing then walk, bike, clean the house/garage, yard work... whatever keeps you moving. This will help your CICO for the day as you burn some calories while keeping you out of the kitchen.

  • So I find some similarities in what you have shared and for the last couple years I have justified that I'm physically strong but I carry extra weight (fat) over that foundation... but then about 18months ago I had a fundamental mental change driven by 3 main factors. 1) A comment from my physician during one of my annual…
  • As a fellow MFP'r who rides his now 20yr old "mountain bike" back and forth to the gym as a form of exercise... kudos As someone who used to race against his own 'personal best' times through the various loops of a nearby off road trail system that included hopping over downed trees, etc. ... "hats off" to you on a very…
  • 2 minute plank
  • Having to tighten the straps on my bike helmet, apparently my "hat size" is starting to thin out with the rest
  • Kudos on achieving a goal shared by many of us in this community!
  • Today's NSV is keeping last week's commitment to myself ... have biked to the gym 4 out of the last 7 days and continue to thoroughly enjoy, averaging 14.4 miles in 60mins total elapsed time (on a relatively heavy 20yr old mountain bike) on varied terrain.
  • Biked 7.5miles to gym in34mins, hit 4x4 sets focused on shoulders/traps with limited rest between sets, 6 clean sets of 30sec planks in <5mins, reversed route & biked back home in 28mins ... on my birthday! :)
  • Fellow data admirer checking in ... good analysis and I agree the human body is just another "machine" at the end of the day burning fuel to perform it's called upon functions, with an amazing ability to store fuel in reserve (aka fat) as a method of self preservation developed over years of evolution when acquisition of…
  • Realizing my "work shirts" are looking baggy decided to step into 'formal' clothing store and get measured for new button down long sleeve shirts. Neck measurements down one full size and when I explained that I'm trying not to have shirts that look so "baggy" the sale consultant says "well, that's probably because you…
  • After 6 months of upper Midwest US climate discouraging any outdoor bike riding I've been pretty steadily logging ~75miles a week on the stationary bike at the gym (60minute "cross country" program 3-5days a week) while watching Netflix transferred content. Spring has finally sprung here and family life supported me…
  • Fiber makes you feel full and as a population in general we are way short of where we should be ... having to learn this the hard way personally (some lingering GI issues attributed to not having sufficient fiber in my diet for too many years) the average adult should be consuming 35+grams of fiber (supported by MFP daily…
  • Last week I had a long work week on business travel coupled with high stress appointments, which also prevented a solid gym workout for 3 days with no hotel gym, 10hours trapped in rental cars, etc. Logged everything and was disappointed with being "over" on MFP goals for several days in a row with no exercise to offset,…
  • Nice work ... I have a similar goal and progress thus far. I was grocery shopping for the family the other day and one hand grabbed two gallons of milk and thought to myself "While I have quite a ways to go yet, it's nice to think that I've lost 4 gallons of milk" (a gallon of most liquids weighing about 8lbs). While the…
  • A thought, friendly recommendation ... set yourself some smaller interim milestone goals and celebrate those appropriately (i.e. non-food rewards), and let the 100lb goal be realized over time. By doing so you can also set yourself realistically maintainable methods to get to those goals (i.e. realize to not "crash diet"…
