I use Nutiva organic virgin, but not the one from Costco... I got 2 normal-size jars for about $7 when they were BOGO at Sprouts. I'm starting to run low though so I'll be looking at Costco to re-stock!

So would it be better to gradually move in the zero-carb direction (from keto) between now and May 1, or just jump right in when the challenge starts?

I'm only 5'4" and now 170 lbs (172 when I re-calculated everything). According to the calculator when I figured it all out, 1400/day is about a 600 calorie deficit for me. Pretty much I was doing 1200 because I really didn't know any better, when I was younger/before I had kids I always did 1200/day to lose weight, so I…

I eat 20 or less (net), I'm doing keto so I tend to eat 70-80% fat, 15-20% protein, 5-10% carbs. Even when I wasn't losing my macros looked good, I apparently just wasn't eating enough.

Thanks for that info! When the blood test came back negative, they said not to worry about going gluten-free. I was like, what?! The only other possible reasons they gave for the type of damage I had were an eating disorder (which doesn't apply to me) or taking too many NSAIDs (which I hadn't taken at all for at least a…

Is B12 a vitamin you can get enough of from meat/eggs? I ask because I am actually borderline deficient in that one (at one point was very deficient- my level was 25 when the normal "low" is 250... I took a bunch of shots that time and got it back up to 550, but over the past 4 years it has gradually dropped back to around…

I occasionally forget that for me, it's not just the carbs but the gluten too... So I'll do something dumb like eat a low carb tortilla at a friend's house. And then I'll feel terrible. I had a scope shortly before starting this woe that showed damaged/inflamed intestine presumably related to gluten intolerance, but then…

Truvia is good (make sure it's not the "baking" version)... I also like Swerve, and I actually like the flavored liquid stevia. I will occasionally use something with Splenda in it, like sugar free coffee syrup or a flavored sparkling water as a treat once in awhile, but I won't buy just straight Splenda...

I saw a recipe for egg rolls using prosciutto in place of the wrappers...

I made a pretty tasty sauce the other day when I cooked a pork butt in the slow cooker- 1 15 oz can tomato sauce, 1 tbsp brown mustard, 1/4 c apple cider vinegar, 3 packets Truvia, 1 tsp minced/crushed garlic, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp granulated onion, 1 tbsp smoked paprika, 2 tsp chili powder, 2 tsp hot sauce. I…

Yes! I LOVE bone broth with curry and garlic powder, and some sesame oil, and sometimes some Sriracha.

I've made the chocolate avocado mousse. The pudding by itself wasn't great, adding whipped cream does help... Maybe add some powdered Swerve and a little real vanilla?

If you are going to oven-fry anything with pork rind breading, I would put it on a rack over the pan. I made oven-fried chicken this week, and while it tasted great, it definitely wasn't crispy, I think because it was sitting in the grease in the pan while it cooked. Next time I am definitely trying a rack.

This weekend I made some pepperjack triangle chips (sandwich slices cut in half diagonally), then put some shredded chicken taco meat, sliced black olives, and shredded Mexican style cheese on them, stuck them back in the oven to melt the shredded cheese, then cooled them and dipped them in queso dip... Cheese-topped…

I ate a high protein, relatively low carb (gluten-free without using too many of the starchy replacement foods) diet during my last pregnancy. I had horrible morning sickness with my first two pregnancies, but with the help of protein it wasn't nearly as bad with my third. I also had a 3-hour labor the third time...…

I'm 5'4", 172 lbs, and 30 years old, started at 185 about 6 weeks ago with a goal weight of 130... I started off at 1200 calories and lost 12 lbs in my first 4 weeks, but then haven't lost much of anything after that (I pretty much gained and lost 3 lbs repeatedly during those 2 weeks). A few days ago I raised my calories…

I'm 30, 5'4", and currently 172 lbs. I don't exercise a ton, I do a cardio class (it's a free one at a church with mostly ladies who are old enough to be my mom!) one day/week and a yoga class (same church) one day/week, and walk about 1.5 miles maybe twice a week (with 3 kids, so not super fast). Otherwise I spend most of…

So I think I'm going to increase my calories to 1400/day for a week and see what happens... I'm not hungry at 1200, but after looking into it more I think it could be why I've stopped losing. I honestly don't know much about "dieting", other than what I read in Women's Health or Fitness or whatever magazines I used to read…

I had an upper endoscopy a few months ago that showed damage that is possibly related to celiac disease (they said it was either that, overuse of NSAIDS, or an eating disorder, and I know it's not either of those 2 things). I've also had a ton of odd health issues for the past 7+ years, which is sad because I'm only 30! My…

https://www.pinterest.com/noahsmom06/ketogenic-diet/ I haven't tried all of my pins either... and some of them are not keto recipes but are things I thought I could easily convert.

Grr... my computer won't play the video, just the music! What 4 ideas do they share? I've done cauli crust pizza, cauli mac & cheese, cauli rice, and mashed cauli... I've had this cauli pizza casserole on my to do list for awhile:…

If you look on a block of orange cheddar cheese, it will most likely list annatto as an ingredient as well; it's what they use to make it orange. It's a natural ingredient used for coloring, kind of like you could use turmeric to turn something yellow/orange or beets to turn something red...

I've done the alfredo with chicken & broccoli- didn't miss the noodles at all! But I've also done it with zucchini noodles and that was good too. I've used romaine lettuce leaves in place of a wrap for "sandwiches", or in place of taco shells or hamburger buns, I use the little red/orange/yellow mini peppers in place of…

My BMR is about 1450, I aim for 1200/day unless it's a day I exercise, then it's usually 14-1500. I measure everything pretty much in order to keep track, and if it's something I don't know the exact measurement on then I will round up. I'm also drinking usually 80-100 oz of water/day.

I do both ways, flipping it or using a lid, depending on the day. I use about 1 tbsp of butter for every 2 eggs, or I cook them in bacon grease. I could seriously eat fried eggs every day. There's a burger place here that has a 60/40 burger- 60% beef, 40% bacon- that is AWESOME!

I've always cooked from scratch, and generally "healthy" foods- whole grains, lots of veggies & fruits, good protein, lower fat (like the sub greek yogurt for mayo type tricks). I've played with paleo, was gluten- and dairy-free for 18 months, but for the most part in the past 2-3 years have tried to focus on "clean"…

I've done the chia "oatmeal". It definitely needs the coconut for me, otherwise the texture is pretty gross! You can do it overnight too, just put the ingredients in a jar and refrigerate overnight, then the next morning your breakfast is already made :) That's the way I made it, and I added the coconut in the AM, I don't…

I like to drink my chicken broth with sesame oil, salt, and a little curry powder added.

I like the Zesty Lemon Cheesecake ones on this site (scroll down)- http://lowcarbediem.com/fat-bombs-recipes-atkins-ketosis/ When I ran out of those and wanted to make more, I didn't have another lemon, so I made strawberry cheesecake ones instead- 2 oz cream cheese, softened 4 tbsp butter, softened 4 tbsp coconut oil,…

STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE FAT BOMBS 8 servings 2 oz cream cheese, softened 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened 4 tbsp coconut oil, melted 1 tsp lemon juice 1 - 1 1/2 tbsp Swerve 2 tsp Polaner sugar-free + fiber strawberry jam Blend everything but the jam.
