Another MFP poster (forgive me as I don't recall their name) said instead of using the scale to measure your progress, find a tighter fitting piece of clothing and try it on instead of getting on the scale. Once it fits better, you'll see the loss :)

Ahhh that makes more sense. Portion control isn't easy for me. I have to weigh and measure and track to be successful. Portion sizes at restaurants are way over what a normal portion would be. You could be eating way more calories than you think you are if you're not measuring/weighing and logging.

The best advice I can give you is to log everything you eat every time you eat it. Once you see how many calories you're really taking in, it should deter you from overeating - knowing that it's this that's causing your weight gain. Weigh foods, measure liquids and LOG LOG LOG!

Absolutely! I was successful in losing over 100lbs from Jan 2011 to June 2012, but over the years, got married, lazy, stopped counting calories and working out and 65lbs came back on. I've lost 13lbs so far, since Feb 1. I'm excited to continue this journey, get to maintenance and then STAY COMMITTED!!!

Most go based on a healthy BMI or how they look in a certain size of clothes. I chose a range, because I know I won't be xxx every single day once I hit 'goal'. The goal weight range I've chosen in the higher end of a healthy BMI for my short stature (I'm just under 5') so while I'll still be considered "overweight", I…
