I've never heard of nor seen Halo Top; I'll have to do some searching. I still eat (plenty) of real ice cream, it's just nice to have something I like that I can mow down on and not kill my calorie budget for the day!

For me, the last place that weight comes off is on either side of my belly button, and it's the first to come on should I gain. It's all genetics. The weight comes off where it's programmed to. You may have to get down to a very low body fat percentage to see it go. I'm not able to do that too well, so I have to deal with…

I have to be careful about running outside in too much cold. Often I'll take a puff or two of my inhaler before I go out. I also warm up well with a walk and some dynamic stretching exercises.

Did you set an aggressive goal, like 2 lbs./week? Back off. Try 0.5 or 1 lb./week to be allowed more calories.
-
Calories. Focus on the calories. Weigh every morsel that goes into your mouth and stick to your calorie deficit goal. Exercise is for cardiovascular fitness, calorie counting is for weight loss.

Plug in your stats to the MFP calculator. Choose a weight loss goal of 0.5 to 1 lb per week (2 lbs. is often too aggressive and unsustainable for new folks). The calculator will give you a number. This is the number of calories you are to eat in a day. Log everything you eat and drink into your MFP food diary. Get a…

Yesterday I wanted to make a nice fruit salad; I bought blueberries, strawberries, mangoes, and red raspberries and the total came to $25. Owch. That's more than I spend on groceries weekly (I'm single). It was a good salad, but something I can't afford to do that often.

One of the reasons, I think, is because a lot of us here have fallen for diet fads, tried them, and failed. Then we started really educating ourselves and found out what really works. I love reading the threads here and have never learned so much from anywhere. Again, it's people's personal experiences that are the…

I don't keep it for any more than 2 days and yes, refrigerated. My recycling center takes the boxes without question, but we utilize single-stream recycling and it's a big compactor.

Oh I see. The taste does not bother me. I was just wondering if there was a health reason to not re-heat the coffee in a Box-o-Joe (I don't re-heat it in the box, I pour it into a cup and re-heat).

Depending on your gym, there should be a personal trainer around somewhere (that works there). Sign up for a session and have them show you proper technique and give you a workout plan.
-
Oh yes. You have to let yourself be human. Think about your calorie budget on a weekly basis. The good days can outweigh the bad. Yesterday, I "accidentally" ate a 1200 calorie lunch. I went to a restaurant and had what I thought was a low-cal lunch combo. I returned home to look up the calories and found that it was WAY…

Are you counting the little things too (that are actually big) like butter, cooking oils, creamers or other coffee additives, etc. Those can add up too.

Perhaps your hormone levels are fluctuating a bit and that is causing you to be hungry. It's just a guess. However, if you do want to snack, I'd just focus on finding good, filling snacks, with fiber and protein. Apple slices dipped in some peanut butter, celery boats, half a sandwich with chicken or tuna salad... there's…

I appreciate this thread. I have endometriosis and have been told I should have a hysterectomy. Thus far, I've refused. My pain is manageable and I'm still having "normal" periods. I don't really see the need, yet, and I'm extremely fearful of what my life will be like and what other challenges I'll face. Thanks for…

Just a suggestion, but a little punctuation helps readers understand the point you are trying to make. I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here.

When you've got very little to lose, that's when you have to be very precise with your logging. Do you have a food scale? If not, get one, and weigh all your food. Don't just rely on measuring cups and spoons. That will bring you as close to accurate on your calorie counting.

Ever use table salt? You know, sodium CHLORIDE? The levels that are added to water are not the least bit lethal. The thing everyone forgets about suspected toxins is that THE DOSE MAKES THE POISON. Water is LETHAL at a certain dose.

If you're a cereal junkie (like me) try Kashi Go Lean...12g protein per serving, plus fiber. I like the crunch and sometimes top Greek yogurt with it for breakfast.

If you are in the US, go to a WalMart. I bought a digital food scale there for $14.

You don't need to do intense workouts to lose weight. You need to focus almost exclusively on your caloric intake. That's where weight loss will happen. Put your stats into MFP, don't choose an overly aggressive goal to start (start at 0.5 to 1 lb. weight loss per week), and weigh/measure every morsel that goes into your…

I follow Scooby on FB and read a lot on his site. He's got some good information there.

You have a very young-looking face; I think weight loss will only enhance that. Personally I think I look younger thinner. I think excess weight makes people look older.

Eat back 25 - 50% of the exercise calories in order to make up for any overestimation of exercise calories. While you should make *some* decent food choices (no need for deprivation), what's more important is weighing and measuring anything you do choose to eat. It's all about getting as accurate with calories as you can.

You beat me to it!

What did you put in for your intended weight loss per week? If you put in 2 lbs./week, that may be too aggressive a goal (a big problem for many here). Try backing down to 0.5 or 1 lb. per week, get used to that, and THEN go up to 2 lbs. if you are feeling confident and seeing results. Don't forget to weigh everything on a…

Oooo, Buffy reminded me...I also like the Quaker rice cakes (50 cal. each) in caramel or apple cinnamon. Very satisfying crunch!

Sliced apple dipped in peanut butter or almond butter; Greek yogurt with granola or cereal topping; I also get snacks mailed to me by a company called Graze.

You seem to be a little hung up on finding a "miracle pill." Have you put any effort into sticking to a calorie budget for any length of time? And by this I mean weighing and measuring every morsel that goes into your mouth and making daily, consistent effort to stick to this goal...for more than a few weeks? Start there.…

First of all, "eating clean" is nothing more than a buzz phrase. It's a popular movement that really has no basis in science. Yes, making healthier choices is good, like adding more fruits, veggies, and lean meats to your diet. But having the ability to work in things you like to eat, like fast food, makes the journey a…
