  • Congratulations! Welcome to the club. Hope is a very powerful thing. Read all you can and listen to your body! You'll totally get there. This! Yes! @ladipoet Thanks for that link!
  • Yep. This. And just to add the word "can". People CAN suck. But most of them don't. It's just that the sucky ones stand out. I agree though in questioning why people feel it's ok to say we've lost too much weight. It's a judgement about us. They wouldn't never to our face say we chose the wrong colour eyeshadow, or our…
  • I'm generally ok now (almost a year in) but defnitely in the first few months I was ravenously hungry right before and yes, cravings were brutal. But I did not give in and eat crabs because I knew it would trigger more cravings that would be even harder to ward off given that I was feeling icky when TOM actually arrived.…
  • Wow! Good for you. That's great news and very inspiring and helpful to know. Happy Birthday btw!
  • I also have officially linked diet pop/soda with marked cravings, hunger and difficulty sticking to plan for up to 3 days. :( And that I can't eat more than 4 of my italian sausages that I eat as "junk food" without having bathroom problems due to the oat hull powder. I figured that's the "junk food" part in them but as…
  • I discovered today that 1/8 tsp of my salt free potassium "salt" in my big water bottle actually made it taste BETTER. I drank it like a mad mad in the desert and therefore almost rendering the potassium supplements I bought yesterday, useless. 1/8tsp provided over 300mg potassium while the supplements were $9 for 100…
  • I re-found this thread again from another post @DittoDan made as I've been looking into potassium again. I have the same huge container hanging around in the cupboard. Forgot about it. Don't like it on food. Bought some potassium supplements. $9 for 100 @ 99mg each. Then I remembered reading someone somewhere in here…
  • This was my thought as well. You take out dairy. The next day you don't feel "bad" but you don't notice. Your new normal slowly gets to a place where you're feeling better but you don't notice it because it feels good. Not "wow" good. Just not "bad". Now you reintroduce the dairy and the old "normal" comes back. That was…
  • I don 't subtract them because I don't count and even if I did I couldn't be bothered, but I do try to avoid them because pretty much all of them (even quest etc) kick me out of ketosis for one or two days and some of them trigger my binge feelings.
  • @ettaterrell I simply avoid all artificial sweetners because it does set me off without a doubt. Makes me hungry and the cravings are hard to control for days after (diet coke is THE WORST) For some reason though, I have finally found a very specific type of protein bar that has relatively little effect on me if I only eat…
  • I tried meativore may last year and haven't looked back. But as he mentioned, there are different strokes for different folks. I do mostly meat and most days are only meat. I will eat salad though when we go out for dinner when it's a social thing. I'm simply not going to fork out the dough for one steak and not eat the…
  • I love all of @Dragonwolf 's suggestions, but I would also drop the cheese. Cheese or dairy (orther than butter) in any amount will prevent me from losing no matter what I do. It was hard to let go, but it worked. And personally if you think it's stress (I know I had just moderate stress helping a friend with a wedding and…
  • I hear you completely! I decided I'm actually start counting "gross" pounds lost as well as the net. So for example, since May 2015 I went from 225 lbs to 185lbs (approx). But at halloween I gained 9lbs that I had to lose again and at Christmas I gained 11lbs that I had to lose again. So although my net loss is about 40lbs…
  • Thanks folks, this is giving me great ideas to try for tweaking. Anyone else reading this, feel free to keep adding. Always looking for more input. I have potassium citrate so I'll start with one pill (99mg) for now. Do that for a few weeks and see before tweaking something else. So I'll know what is doing what. Then maybe…
  • It might take some getting used to, but my snacks are macadamia nuts and sausages. I've found only one kind of sausage (hot italian) that has no sugar or grains in it. I cook a big bunch of them and freeze them. Individually wrapped in plastic. Take one with me, by the time I need it, it's thawed and I eat it out of the…
  • oh! Right! duh. Sorry. I was thinking the opposite. A pill that puts water INTO your body. I was thinking.... wouldn't it be more effective to just drink water? I was a bit confused thinking the pill was made of water or contained water. I totally get it now. Brain fart. :) Thanks for your patience.
  • sorry ... what is a water pill?
  • I'm in canada so ours might be different even if by the same company. I HATED the bouillon cubes but used them because I hate cooking even more. I was using Aurora because it's cheap but it always had this awful cornstarch taste. I now use knorr and I'm amazed at the difference in taste!! Holy crap. I wouldn't say it's…
  • I used a cal/mag combo but thanks to @DittoDan's extensive research/explanations who was quite helpful in my beginning stages, I tried the citrate and definitely noticed a difference there. Now I take two citrate and one cal/mag just so I get some calcium in as well. 3 mag citrate pills will give me bathroom issues but two…
  • Hey there, I'm fairly similar. I feel better when I try to stay as close to zero as I can. I learned this during the "meativore may" challenge last year. I also have to avoid dairy (except butter) and artificial sweetener. So for me it's just meat, eggs, fat and the occasional leaf only salad. Some vinegar here and there.…
  • @baconslave Interesting you say MIO water. Previously I was using a similar thing made by gatorade that said it had electrolytes. After quite a time, I was sooooo thirsty I just couldn't drink enough and had the worst headache and other symptoms. Stopped drinking that gatorade water stuff and felt better. Weird huh? I did…
  • Really? Interesting. Now with the whole salt phobia thing is there a change of getting too much sodium? I'm assuming you'd simply have symptoms as well and you'd adjust? So I should likely up it to two cubes a day? There's no way to actually test (at home for cheap) electrolytes is there? It's just more of a symptomatic…
  • Every time I have to back into ketosis I have horrible heart burn for about 2 weeks. I'm suspecting it's just because my body hasn't caught up to making enough acid to digest the different food. (as dragonwolf suggests) When I go out of ketosis it's generally for a week or two on purpose. I will also have bouts of it if I…
  • That depends on your goals and your own body. Do you want to be in ketosis or simply low carb? Decide that and then you have to just try it out and see how you feel. Tweaking as you go, learning what works for your body. Personally I have to do almost zero carb to feel good and lose weight but others can do up to 100g.
  • Isn't it amazing! I think it's quite common (and a wonderful side effect). I as well am able to eat only twice a day now. Sometimes only once depending on what's going on and what/when we eat. It's so liberating!! I used to be hunger all the time, even after eating so calorie restricting diets were hell. Now, I eat almost…
  • Hi Everyone! My name is Bonnie in Canada. I don't have an any autoimmune problems but I wanted to pass on some info that I recently learned that I know is not really mainstream. Take what you will, leave the rest. My partner and I have started following the endeavors of a man named Wim Hof from the Netherlands. He is…
  • maybe it's the fat  !! We're moisturizing from the inside!! hahahah!! (only half kidding)
  • Whoa! I so wish I had some before pics now. I REALLY can't believe how much more youthful everyone looks in their after pictures. Really, it's astounding!!! I don't think it's just because they weigh less. I know the feeling represented in the before pictures. Low energy, bloating etc. Then you find this WOE and you not…
  • This woman ate zero carb while breast feeding and although I've never met the kids, they say they're perfectly healthy :) http://myzerocarblife.jamesdhogan.com/wp/2015/02/eat-zero-carb-pregnant/
  • Could have been breaded or injected with/marinated in glucose/corn syrup/salt stuff... it was from a fast food place. Yeah, or @Jjsanchez1123 did the totals you found include the bun (even if you didn't eat it)?
