  • This is a very interesting topic. Though I do not have OCD, when I start a course of healthy eating/exercise, I feel that overwhelming pull of having to follow everything PERFECTLY. For me it is a very strict ‘all or nothing’ way of thinking. Mortuseon- Just reading your response about planning deliberate cheat days gives…
  • Thank you all! I’ve actually been thinking about what I meant by ‘clean eating’ over the last couple of days. The term kind of bothers me as well but it was my lazy way of trying to describe what I think healthy eating is. When I say ‘clean eating’ I am referring to eating predominantly home cooked meals using minimally…
  • I 100% relate to your original post! I am also about 20 lbs overweight and anxiety and after work eating are the biggest culprits. I can eat really well breakfast and lunch but as soon as I get home i get into binge on snacks mode and by the time I look up, I realize I've eaten WAY too much! I agree that pre-logging meals…
  • Hello! And welcome! I have a question. I am and have always been primarily a runner and haven’t really delved into strength training. I would love to incorporate some strength training into my workouts but do not want to join a gym. I would be open to purchasing some dumb bells. What are some simple by effective exercises…
  • Thank you both! I am going to make a trip to the grocery store tonight
  • Mine is definitely tortilla chips and hummus!!! I have started not buying them and switching from chips to carrots and hummus. So hard when the cravings kick in! Good luck on your journey!!
  • Wow! So much great info! Thanks, everyone! Tweaking_Time - You ain't kidding about switching exercises! Back when I was running 5-7 miles everyday, I decided to go swimming thinking it would be easy. After a few laps, I was SO winded and exhausted! Switching exercises is very humbling.
  • Thank you Machk9, Jthanmyfotnesspal, TimothyFish, and canadianlbs!
  • This information is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you all so much for your help!!! -Bill
  • Thank, everyone! Your suggestions are very helpful!
  • Im also looking for others to motivate and help motivate me! I am working towards losing 15 lbs through clean eating (I'm a longtime vegetarian) and running. Feel free to add me! Bill
  • I'm right there with you! I'm working towards losing 15 lbs so that I can feel better. Like many others, I start off well but my 'black and white' thinking kicks in as soon as I have a minor setback, I label myself as a failure, and go back to my unhealthy lifestyle. Feel free to add me as a friend and we can help keep…
  • Hello Keely! I just started on my goal to lose 15 lbs. I turn 32 in about 10 days and I've decided that I'd rather feel younger than my age than older! Feel free to add me! I'm always looking for others to motivate and who can help motivate me!
  • Thank you all for your encouraging responses! I am already feeling more confident in my decision to make sustainable changes! When I run, I typically do it after work. Ideally, I would love to do it in the morning but I have a difficult time fully waking up and getting motivated. I may need to look at my sleeping habits…
  • Hello all! I am Bill and I am 31 years young. I was able to maintain a good weight up until I hit 30 at which point my metabolism came to a screeching halt and I started gaining weight. I have been a runner in the past and am starting back up again this week. I plan to run 2-3 miles 3-4x/week, to start. I will be focusing…
