The best advice I ever got from this forum was to keep the weight loss plan similar to the weight maintenance plan. If I can’t have it during my diet I will have to continue that eating plan after my weight loss or I will regain. That’s why diets didn’t work for me. It was one yo-yo diet after another until I realized…

It’s hard for me to remember how it felt when I didn’t understand the concept of calorie consumption. So is their question really about calories? Or is it about getting permission from random strangers to eat a cookie?

Walking in the beach sand, I noticed that my footprints didn’t sink down as low as everyone else’s. And I wasn’t exhausted from walking in the sand like I usually was.

For me, food was my only stress relief and sense of comfort for a few decades. My subconscious realized that the last thing I needed was to take that away, but my conscious self had no idea what was happening. All I knew was that despite my best efforts, I couldn’t lose weight. As a result of my psychotic break, my stress…

I’m only speaking for myself, but I’ve found that when I’m under severe pressure my go-to is comfort food. It’s my therapy. So taking that off the table while I’m going through a stressful situation was not possible for me. I needed that food for my sanity. Once that burden was lifted off it became much easier for me to…

Here in the Washington and Oregon areas we have Beechers cheese. My favorite used to be called No Woman No Cry but it’s now called New Woman. Their Mac N Cheese is to-die-for. We also have a cheese monger associated with our favorite winery in Woodinville (near Chateau St Michelle)

Weighing daily in the morning helps set my brain to subconsciously have a focus on my food intake.

I find that pre logging what I know I’ll eat really helps me. I always eat oatmeal and protein shakes, then I’ll log my expectations for lunch. Then for dinner I’ll pre log a glass of wine. I can do an hour of cardio for a couple hundred calories more and I know what’s left. I’ll be generally aware of that number but not…

No need to feel stupid or beat yourself up. Every time you try again you gain knowledge.

I always used the handicap toilet stalls because I really was uncomfortable in the regular stalls. My hips were just too wide. But now my hips are narrow enough that the regular stalls are comfortable.

I weigh every day and I have a paper weight loss journal that I post it in along with challenges for the day and reasons for overeating. It goes back 5 years and gives me insight into reasons for the fluctuations and historical data. That’s how I spotted the stress/binge cycle.

As Ann said, for me it depends on what kind of carbs I eat. Sugar doesn’t make me hungrier, but white flour brings on more hunger for me after I eat it.

I love AnnPT77’s comment about “future self” Good way to describe it.

Old fashioned oatmeal and brown sugar

Would someone please list the grams of protein and calories? I like Muscle Milk 25 grams for 150 calories

During weight loss and even now I have to examine why I’m eating. For me sometimes it was a subconscious reaction to stress that was causing the perception of hunger.

For me the skill set is way different for maintaining than losing. There is no outside award for maintaining. Nobody notices, nobody says anything encouraging, the scale doesn’t move. No changed data. Not the same reward system as losing for me. Much harder.

When I adjusted my macros to 100 g of protein, it made a huge difference in my appetite. Plus maintaining as much muscle mass as possible on limited calories.

Netflix “You Are What You Eat”, a twins study, is eye opening about health. I’m not thrilled to hear that plant based foods are better for your health.

Another vote for protein powder but they’re not all the same. Muscle Milk has one I order online that has 50 grams of protein for 300 calories. That’s how I reach my 100 G protein goal every day.

I’m amazed at how fast I’m walking now, between last year’s knee replacement surgery and the 15 lbs I’ve lost since then. Almost keeping up with my husband

Remember that Peloton ad where the guy gave his wife the bike and the backlash that proceeded it?

I’m another one who never feels full. And if I’ve eaten white bread-forgetaboutit. I’m starving in 5 minutes. Don’t understand why.

How are you doing OP?

Wow! I’m so proud of you!

I can’t believe what a difference losing a few pounds makes in going down stairs and up hills.

Trazodone works well for me as well. It’s actually an anti-anxiety medication that is used for sleep. Makes sense actually.

Again, thanks for all your input and help
