Being told that insulin shots to treat diabetes was my future, with five children (youngest was under 2 at the time) this was not acceptable. I prayed to God for the strength I needed and have lost 130 lbs. since then and I am off all medications!

Thank you for the encouragement. I also stalled during the winter but it feels like I am back on track now. I want to get these last 25 lbs. off and then transition to maintaining. Best of luck to you in meeting your goals!

Congratulations! You are doing great, keep it up and you will be amazed at how quickly you can progress.

Lots of good suggestions here already. Mine would be a full cup of cottage cheese (220 cals) plus whatever fruit you like with it: diced peaches, diced pears, pineapple tidbits, applesauce. That should come in well under 400 total and cottage cheese is high protein and should keep you satisfied until bedtime. :)

Thanks to everyone for the good advice, I drink plenty of water (water is the only thing I drink now), and I will be more intentional about getting fiber in my diet.
-
I eat a pretty well rounded diet most days, lots of fruits and veggies. I usually do end the day a little low on fiber because I don't eat much in the way of grains. What veggies come with a lot of fiber?

I agree with all the votes for roasted, but I also like the steamable bags of brussel sprouts and then just add a little butter, salt, pepper to taste.

I'll quote Michael Pollan here, "Be the kind of person who takes supplements, then skip the supplements and save the money.". His point being that people who take supplements are healthier in general, even though the supplements themselves have been shown to have no benefits.

Sounds like you are doing exactly what you need to....I have to remind myself that each day is a new beginning after both good and bad days.

Yes, it is possible. I went from 206 to 227 in a two week period over Christmas. I went back to my routine of eating and exercise and was very careful about sodium intake (because much of it is water retention). The pounds came off quickly BUT not as quickly as they went on... took me about a month to get back to 206. Just…

Congratulations!

It is only realistic if you have 100+ pounds to lose.

I am a 5' 5" man weighing 205 pounds

second this, also I will add that I have lost 120 lbs. since the end of Feb. 2015, it is possible, just starting eating right and moving more and it is amazing what your body can do
-
Sometimes I will go to bed early in that situation, going to bed seems to turn off the desire to eat for me. Other times I will have an 80 calories greek yogurt which is pretty filling.

'It's surprising how great fruit tastes after a couple months of avoiding junk food!' This is so true! My kids don't understand that I eat one banana, one apple, and one orange every day, they don't get it when I tell them it is like cookies for me!

Awesome job! It is amazing how the body responds when we start eating right and exercising. It can happen faster than you ever imagined. Thus far I have lost about 115 lbs. since March 2015, more than I ever dreamed possible. Thank you for sharing your story and pictures.

19 lbs to get to 199, down from 330 to start, I think I'll cry when the scales read less than 200, haven't been there since high school

Here is a tip I heard on a youtube video that helps me, just tell yourself that you can eat whatever food it is that you want to have, but FIRST you are going to eat a piece of fruit and drink a glass of water. For me this either stops me from wanting to binge or it greatly reduces the amount that I eat when I want to…

Recap and update: weighed 206.5 on December 18, ate whatever I wanted over Christmas, weighed 227 on December 30, got back on track, weight on December 31 was 222, weight today, January 1, was 218. During the 10 months I have been on this weight loss journey this is the first time I have experienced this, it is AMAZING how…

Thank you for the encouraging word!

Just wanted to update, weight today, Dec 31, was 222 lb. I plan to continue drinking gallons of water and watching sodium intake.
-
I had done that same math ...and yes, I did eat a lot, but I don't think I ate that much! Of course, I don't know for sure because I didn't log it.
-
Thank you to everyone for the words of encouragement. One of my goals for the rest of this week is to drink as much water as possible while limiting my sodium and see what the scales say by the weekend.
-
I was not surprised to see that I'd gained, SHOCKED at how much & how quickly I'd gained!
-
I feel like I am getting back on track since I've gotten home, I'm looking at this as a learning experience.
-
I am hoping to find that much of it is water & will drop off quickly, I will be watching my sodium closely the next few days.
