I've been running in Nike Frees for almost 3 years on and off. They are a very minimalist type of shoe however so it depends on how much support you might need ;)

I am training triathlon and recently had a stress fracture in my right foot. I modified my training to just swimming focus with one or two VERY LIGHT GEAR cycling sessions during my injury... eventually about 5-6 weeks I healed up just fine. Give your injury the time it needs to heal and be conscious of placing it under…

What is the reason the OP cannot prepare for a shuttle test on the elliptical while he/she is experiencing joint pain? The way I see it, at least it's some form of cardiovascular exercise where he/she can play with different paces until such time as the OP's pain subsides and muscular strength increases.

@Rocknut53 Wow that's truly an inspiration! You keep doing what your doing!

My name is George and I'm an alcoho-- oh wrong thread. . .

Hey just thought I would chime in, yes elliptical is easier on the joints (knee). Something MORE effective would be Aqua Jogging. Knee and Shin pain depending on your situation, could be a result of unconditioned muscles or increase in volume/intensity too quickly. But the best advice will be if you are feeling pain take…

As long as it's not taking a toll on your sleep patterns. Some people like to get exhausted right before bed and just crash others prefer not to workout because it can actually boost energy and keep them awake. I like to do some late night low intensity cardio and eat something. This is all based on your life obligations…

Some of the best advice. Also I'd like to add ..... set a goal event like a 5km whatever you want. Work towards that common goal and look to your peers for inspiration. As you work towards and accomplish your goal you will be feeling so much exhilaration and sense of accomplishment. And when you look bad you can say "Yup I…

That's a great idea to invest in a bike. That is an investment that will build the fundamentals for your daughter to enjoy exercise through the years. By setting up those good habits early, you can rest assured that your daughter will value exercise and fitness and promote a healthy long and prosperous life. Swimming is so…

We just had a very intense discussion about this in a previous thread in the Fitness Exercise section LOL. Basically, no. Sauna on its own does not burn enough calories or contribute to weight loss. However the benefits are still noteworthy. It helps with recovery, relaxation, stress relief, skin Rejuvenation and improved…

Nice one be patient and stick with your plan and your vision! Don't let anyone tell you that it's impossible! Those who say they CAN and those who say they CANT are both usually right. So which one are you ;) ;)

Are you doing any type of fitness activity to promote a calorie burn? Activities can include walking, jogging, running, Cycling, swimming, Cycling, yoga, weight lifting etc etc
-
I recently experienced a similar injury and the suspicion is that my injury is a stress fracture. The best thing to do is see a sports doctor he/she will ask you many probing questions like How long have you been running? Did you change intensity? What shoes do you wear? How often do you run or walk? He/she can then do a…

Each workout you do can achieve a goal or an objective for that day. For example some days long distance runners do a recovery run which is a low intensity workout and may not even yield a perceived perspiration. Both are good workouts because they achieved a goal for that day. So yeah hope that helps! Other days are much…

Buy a velcro arm strap for your cellphone/debit cards/ ID for long runs etc...
-
But keeping to the original question of this thread. It's an activity that does not yield noteworthy calorie burn. The rest I agree to disagree mate.

In the case of sauna sessions NOT detoxifying the body through perspiration perhaps more research is needed and perhaps you are right on that front. However if you go through all the articles I have read thus far they all agree that sauna sessions benefit more than do harm. Heart health Skin Rejuvenation Athletic Recovery…
-
Let's not get personal here bubba. The facts are even 2 sessions in a sauna provide benefits to the body. And to answer your condescending question I actually do read what people write back and respect that information.
-
False. The body has many toxins. But this can be left for another discussion. Bottomline the benefits of sauna sessions outweigh the negatives for the average healthy individual who wishes to use the sauna as an effective means for relaxation, stress relief and heart health . That we know, but are not considered a viable…

@glevinso Okay and in regards to immune system. I completely agree long bouts of heat is a stress to the body which temporarily weakens the immune system. However we are talking about 10-30 minute sauna sessions.... so would that not strengthen the immune system as the body recovers?

Thanks
