OP you've gotten solid advice here, not sure why you're responding so defensively... Just be there for him and help him in the ways he has asked you to... And let him work it out with his therapist the rest of the way :)

Are they all obese? Misery loves company...
-
Yeah that one little phrase did turn me off a bit, but I do think if she took that out, her second point advice is still valid and seems to have some validity to it.

Those 5-10 are just vanity pounds... You take em or leave em... At 5'7" you are at a fabulous weight with 135... Either way, those vanity pounds just come off really slowly... I like Jillian Michaels' advice on breaking through a plateau: http://www.jillianmichaels.com/fit/lose-weight/break-through-weight-loss-plateau

Holy cow... Why does every post in this community turn into a pissing competition? People have shared what has worked for them and that's great... If you think it wouldn't work for you, then do what you would rather do instead. No need to go back and forth like my 5 & 6 year olds do when they both think they're right...

Beans, ground turkey, Greek yogurt (I like Chobani- the yogurt cups are only 120-130 cals), spinach, eggs, avocados, apples... For breakfast my go-to is 4 scrambled egg whites with spinach, a "triple health" high fiber English muffin (Thomas brand, only 100 calories), a tsp of butter, and 2 slices of uncured bacon...…

I like her extreme shed and shred too... I highly recommend her BodyShred program! I'm on my 3rd round now and I'm in the best shape of my life so far!

I think it depends on body shape... I am 5'7", and currently weigh 174... I am curvy, or "hippie" as my husband calls me, and wear a 12 (or large for non-number sizes) comfortably right now... They are just at the point that they are loose on me by the end of the day, so I'm guessing I'll be in a 10 with the next five or…

You may need to adjust your calorie goal... I know as I lost weight MFP has adjusted my calories down... I started at 245 in March at 1560 calories, and it dropped me down to 1360 at some point, then 1280, and now 1200 at 174 lbs...
-
I am within 20 lbs of my goal, and my weight loss has slowed... I decided to work out for an hour a day, instead of the hour I've been doing the last 7 months, and have seen my weight loss pick back up again... But then I've been working out consistently and at a high intensity for over 8 months now, so I knew my body…

No such thing as not losing weight because someone is not eating enough... People go on these ridiculous starvation diets under doctors' orders, drinking 500 calories a day, and lose tons of weight... So, no. Although for energy's and muscles' sake I would never recommend those programs...

I use mine every day!
-
Wow. Worst advice ever.
-
It's not because you're inactive. I could do practically nothing all day but if I stay under my calorie goal I will still lose weight. You eat too much.

ONE chocolate chip cookie, ONE salted caramel brownie, ONE SMALL slice of cake (which I will share with one of my kids), Pretty much anything I want if it fits, but I only have ONE. On a day when none of that yummy stuff is available, dove dark chocolate- 42 calories per piece :)

This is basically what I say too... If people are really interested and looking for help, they usually ask more questions and want more details, and I give those when asked... I haven't actually had anyone argue with me or say anything negative because, well, the "proof is in the pudding." Obviously it works, because I'm…

Sounds horrible... Why so few calories?? That doesn't seem healthy or sustainable.
-
Just keep doing what you're doing, and I'm sure you'll lose soon... I will sometimes go 2-3 weeks with no loss, and then have a big loss on the next week... It really shouldn't last more than 3 weeks if you're truly sticking to your deficit. If it lasts longer than that, you might want to tighten up your logging and see if…

Yes! I used to get frustrated by this, but have come to realize that it's just how my body works... I will sometimes go 2-3 weeks with little to no weight loss, then have a week where I'll lose 5-7 lbs in one week! This happened to me about a month ago, and since then I had 3 weeks of 1.5-2 lbs per week, then last week 3…

You just need to plan ahead... Eat a little lower the rest of the day (maybe have 1 less egg for breakfast, skip the bread at lunch) to allow for more in the evening... Do some cardio that day to "earn" some extra calories, and IF you're going to be continuously dancing then count that as extra workout too... You don't…

Your stomach definitely doesn't look exactly the same! I think you are being too hard on yourself :) everyone is shaped differently... You may need to lose more than 17 lbs to really flatten your tummy, like more on the lower side of your healthy BMI to get the results you want, but either way you look great and are doing…

Foofy coffee drinks, soda, juice, Oreos (my favorite!)... Pasta and rice most of the time (I would rather have more of the flavor of the other stuff I serve with it)... I'm not a big mayo fan, but I like it on BLTs... But I've recently discovered organic wholly guacamole singles, and those are just as good if not better on…

Stop taking that crap.

Eat what you want. I am not a fan of any diet plan that says "you can't have x,y, or z." Now, at dinner, I would much rather have a big plate of spaghetti squash with meat sauce than a tiny plate of pasta with meat sauce... But not because of carbs- because I want more food for less calories!
-
No, you don't need to hork down everything in sight just because you are pregnant... Contrary to how we all feel when we are pregnant lol... You can continue on with a healthy lifestyle but make sure you are eating enough to not be in a deficit. With one of my babies, I was in the middle of losing weight when I got…

It's never advisable to START a new workout program when you are pregnant... But it is good to stay active during pregnancy, to eat a healthy diet, and to watch out for overeating. You don't need anymore calories while pregnant than you did before... So why don't you set your calories to maintenance, and stay there? Later…

That whole plan sounds like a crash and burn... Why no carbs? Why so restrictive? That is a recipe for disaster...
-
Just a tip- in almost any recipe, fat free half n half Can be substituted for heavy cream... And a whole cup is only 160 calories as opposed to 821 for a cup of heavy cream! I used it when I made a copycat zuppa Toscana (like from Olive Garden) and it was really good!

Thank you! It was a beautiful hike, thank you! I changed the log to brisk walk and it came up with about 520 calories which I guess is more reasonable... I figure the same- any extra will be a nice bonus!
