"All that fat can't be good for you. Don't you know it leads to heart attacks?" "Your brain NEEDS carbs to function!" To the first one, no, no fat does NOT lead to heart attacks. I always refer people to the book "Keto Clarity." It's full of good info if they take the time to read it. And it's short, so no excuses! To the…

I've made these before and they are SO good.

I'm glad someone started this thread! I was craving chocolate today and decided to try this recipe for a Keto Mexican Chocolate Shake. YUM! It's a little spicy due to the cayenne, so you could adjust that if you wanted to. I also added a few drops of stevia to mine to make it just a tad sweeter.…

That chia pudding sounds great! I'll have to give that a try. The keto pancakes are super yummy. I like to make those on the weekends. My mornings are usually a rush, so my breakfast is either a "bulletproof/keto tea" or "rocketfuel latte" with an added scoop of whey protein powder. They're fast, give me energy and…

Well, it won't be my Goliath today, but it is usually my Goliath: French fries. We went out to eat last week and I thought I would splurge and have a cheeseburger (with the bun--I usually order it without) and fries with a side of ranch dressing. It was a mistake. I felt awful! I felt pudgy and had an upset stomach. I love…

Hi gang! I'm Taylor, and I've been doing keto since April/May of 2015. I started out around 170lbs, and am now at 161lbs. My goal is to get down to 145lbs. I keep my carbs under 50g a day, usually much lower than that. In the beginning I kept them around or under 20g a day until I felt confident I was in ketosis. I never…

I've heard different things about this too. I'm hoping some of the more experienced ketoers will chime in. From what I understand, as long as you're staying close to the traditional 5-20-75 CPF ratio, with carbs under 50g, you should be good.

I like it because it's so convenient too. During the workweek my time in the morning doesn't generally allow for sitting down to eat, but I can drink my tea while doing other things. On the weekends I'll brew up the "lighter" version and make some eggs and bacon for a more traditional sit down breakfast. Mine too! I don't…

I make my "Keto Tea." 3 bags or 3 tsp loose leaf tea of choice 20 ounces of boiling water (I take 12 ounces with me in a thermos to school and sip on it during the day). 2 tbs kerrygold unsalted butter 2 tbs coconut oil 2 - 3 ounces hwc 8 - 12 drops or so liquid stevia to taste I steep the tea and pour 12 ounces into my…

These are great! :)

Here's something I found while geeking out on Google: "If caused by a mineral deficiency, one-sided leg cramps or calf spasms can help with the decision of what to supplement, whereby the left side is generally indicative of extra Calcium requirements, while the right side is usually an indication of extra Magnesium being…

Thanks so much everyone! I've been shooting for 20 or less a day, with a few days more recently going a little higher towards 30. I feel really good so far! I want to allow for more vegetables and wanted to make sure it wouldn't bump me out of ketosis. I know everyone is different though. I need to get some ketostix. I've…

Since starting keto in March I have woken up with really bad leg cramps two or three times. Awhile back a friend gave me a canister of "Natural Calm" to help me sleep, and as it turns out, it's magnesium citrate! I'm glad I have some on hand in case I need it. Do you take it every night? I really don't want to wake up with…

This is so helpful! I woke up with a beast of a cramp in my left calf this morning. I have some magnesium citrate called "Natural Calm." I'll give that a try!

Now you're speaking my language. Yum. I tried making cheddar cheese taco shells tonight. Not bad! I was surprised at how crunchy they got! I cooked them on the stovetop in a pan.

^^^This! People can get defensive too, as if your being healthy is somehow a negative judgment of them. I usually diffuse the situation with humor as best I can. Like KnitOrMiss said, it's projection.

Thank you Dan! This is great.

Thanks for the website! Gonna have to check it out. I agree, they do seem kinda pricey for the amount you get. What's the shelf life? Maybe as an occasional treat. Still, I love cheese and could probably mow through a bag in no time.

Yummmmm. This may have to be made this weekend.

If you really love your honey, you might try only using a teaspoon and using a sweetener like liquid stevia to help bring up the sweetness that you're craving in your tea. You'll still get the honey flavor, but the carb load won't be as high. I love honey too, but honestly haven't been using it as much since I started…

I was thinking a food dehydrator too! I would think it depends on whether your dehydrator uses warmth or not. We're food geeks around here and like to watch the Alton Brown show "Good Eats," and he has an episode where he makes a simple cool air dehydrator to make jerky with. That might be worth a shot if a warm air one…

Another water drinking tip: I don't know what it is, but I will drink a lot more water if I use a straw! It's just easier to guzzle it that way for me.

Thank you! :-)

I gotta know how you're making those taco shells! Sounds delicious.

I'm only a few weeks in, but things that make me smile about keto are: 1. I'm not hungry all the time! I also don't have the crazy blood sugar spikes and drops like I used to, which makes for an overall better mood. 2. Of course, bacon, butter, and cheese! 3. I can eat out with friends with just a few menu modifications.…

I'm salivating just reading this. I'm going to have to give this recipe a try! Yum!

I recently discovered mug cake recipes! My husband is the one who loves pastries, cookies, and cakes, my weakness is savory stuff like jalapeño kettle cooked potato chips and french fries. The mug cake was a hit! I'll try to find the link and share it...

We made these the other night and they were SO good. They don’t need long in the pork rinds. Quick dip and fry. Yummm.
