  • I'm in! I've been thinking about the upcoming holiday. This will be my first Thanksgiving on keto. Last year I was doing a more flexible primal, but have been focused on keto since April. I'll check in weekly! SW: 146.8 as of today. GW: 140 by the end of December I'm a daily diary logger, so I'll keep that up (it has…
  • No problem! I thought it was a great interview, with plenty of ideas for any ketoer who wants to add more veggies into their life!
  • There's a lot of great advice in this thread! The only thing I would add, really for anyone with specific food triggers, is to find out if there are keto versions of your preferred treats. For example, making a small batch of keto friendly ice cream isn't hard, plus you'll be satisfied on much less because of the…
  • Books! But, that's an English major for ya ;-)
  • Here's the link I mentioned before! Leanne interviews a woman who is doing a keto vegan lifestyle. I hope this is helpful :-) http://www.healthfulpursuit.com/2015/04/video-low-carb-vegan-keto-plant-based/
  • Welcome aboard the keto train ;) Everyone's body is different, so there's no set time frame for entering ketosis. Some people take a few weeks, others can take a month or more. I will tell you that if you stick with the plan, you will see weight loss. I have lost 23 pounds eating this way, and many people have lost a great…
  • Hey there! Welcome to the group. I wouldn't worry about getting too few carbs each day. Most people have a hard time keeping it low enough! What are your carb sources? I would say that for now focus on making sure your protein is at a safe number (so you can enter ketosis) and that you're eating plenty of fat. Too much…
  • Check out the website/blog "Healthful Pursuit." Leanne has lots of info, and there's an interview with a keto vegan on there if you look for it
  • ^^^THIS. This "friend" doesn't sound like a real friend at ALL. I'd give him a chance to mend by letting him know that you'd appreciate if he didn't do that. If he doesn't stop, ditch him. Who has time for that?
  • Congrats on your 6 months! I've been in it about the same! Feels good, doesn't it? :-)
  • I do. I just feel better having the fiber in my diet and it allows for a wider variety of foods. I know lots of people do total carbs though and that works very well for them! I think you have to really tune into your personal goals and needs. I will say that it was easier to keep to 20g total or less while transitioning…
  • Welcome to the group!
  • Welcome auntneen! This is a great group. Everyone is very supportive! You can do this <3
  • Thanks everyone! I'm glad I'm not the only one! Alcohol can definitely trigger me, but even without that, I was just surprised that I lost the desire for it too. I used to really enjoy have a few glasses of wine. Now, not so much. The first time I had a drink after becoming keto-adapted, I was shocked at my body's…
  • Personally, I wouldn't be offended!
  • I like to use earl grey tea! Sometimes a tea that's a little cinnamon-spicy is good too. Or a chocolate mate! Any tea you like really.
  • Also, google "rocket fuel latte." Another yummy recipe that can be done with tea instead of coffee.
  • Yes, a tea works great! I have my "keto tea" every morning ☺
  • Finding a massage therapist with solid knowledge on trigger point therapy and myofascial releases techniques would help. Clair Davies wrote a book called "Trigger Point Therapy Workbook " that does an excellent job describing self care techniques for all sorts of pain issues. Hope you can find some relief!
  • ^^^This! Yes. When they're ready, they'll start asking serious questions. And even then, it's on them to stick with it.
  • I love ballet inspired stuff because I love dance. I use a lot of dvds (my favs right now are Ballet Beautiful, Sleek Technique, and good ol' Callanetics). I get to really focus on the muscles and the movements. I find it very meditative, which I need since I tend to be stressed these days with school work and family, lol!…
  • Besides, I've noticed that the caloric burn that MFP usually estimates is generally off. It seems to overestimate how many calories burned. I compared the results a few times, looking at what the elliptical or treadmill at the gym told me vs MFP. Since the gym's machines take into account heart rate, weight, age, etc, I'm…
  • When I used the keto calculator, I accounted for my activity level, so I don't enter any of my exercise into MFP anymore. It just got too confusing. The calculators add more calories to your total, so if you keep to those values, and are true to the activity level you indicated, you should be good!
  • Mine is chips too. Pork rinds help, but I do miss kettle cooked jalapeño potato chips.
  • How is it going for you so far? Have you been able to stick with it?
  • Ooooh! Those sound yummy! Let us know how they work out!
  • I never checked. I just kept it at 20g/day or under for a few weeks until I felt good, then slowly adjusted, listening to my body. I now keep net carbs to 50g/day and under. I really wish MFP had an option for tracking net carbs instead of total carbs! I do the math, subtracting fiber from the total amount, but still. One…
  • I haven't tried the flavored stevias yet! That sounds really good. I drink a lot of tea, so I get most of my water in that form--herbal tea, black tea, etc. My husband is into weight training, so we have some BCAA (branch chain amino acids) powder here, and I sometimes use that to flavor the water too, while getting some…
