Funny you say that, that's exactly what I am going for in March. Hoping to earn my FMF billet

6:54 mile today after taking 3 weeks off from running but doing other cardio in the gym
-
Roger, I hear you guys. I'm still pushing my 2-3 mile runs and more. I've got 4 months left now.

Navy 1.5 mile PRT in 11:39!!! The time I needed was 13:30. Hooyah!

I haven't run since Saturday afternoon. I'm thinking I will today. I've found that more than just one day's rest In between runs has actually dramatically helped me w my times. I've found that if I run every other day, I'm running about a 7:30 mile. But if I wait a few days and run again it went down to about 7:15 -7:17. I…

1 in 7:17!

7:28 today after not having run for 5 days due to the storm! *kitten* yes! Still no word from the naval office if my paperwork to leave this month for basic has been accepted or not. The struggle is real

In May I was 253 lbs, I enlisted in August at 220 lbs, now I am waiting to go and am training a lot and am 210.6 lbs and running a mile in 7.5 minutes!

I'm just pumped to finally be in this kind of cardio shape. I know I lack the distance endurance but it's workable!
-
Gentlemen, good news! I have completed a one mike run in 7:36. This is the fastest run I have ever done in my life. Now that j have the time where I'm comfortable with, j will build the endurance. 1.5 miles is not terrible to accomplish in under 12. I can do it !

1.5 mile navy PT run done at 12:51. I will crush it at basic!
-
Thanks! It's an amazing feeling to be below 8, even if only by a few seconds!
-
I'm so amped to finally run a sub 8 mile. Next step is a sub 7!
-
Alright all my mile time is down to 7:57!
-
Rah sir. Thank you for your service and honest insight. I'm down to 8:05 and pushing for a sub 8 now. I'm running around 2 miles a day every other day right now. My current navy rats tell me I'll be fine for my initial PRT at basic. I'm trying to push well beyond the navy standards because after A school I will have to…

Oorah sir. There's nothing that will keep me from this. No PT test will ever stop me from doing my job. It's who I am as a person and as a warrior. If running till my legs fall off means a Marine gets to keep his, then I'd just as soon puke and rally because I will not fall short of guarding and saving each and every one…

Down to 1 mile in 8:14!

I'm Just working on like yall said building my wind back up. I haven't run in over a year since I got on the job due to various excuses that I allowed or made. Since I started when I made this post, k have gone from running 1 mile in 10:25 to 8:43. Almost 2 minutes off in about a week or so. I have a set ship out date yet…

I dropped the Single(1) mile time again tonight to 8:43 for one mile, so another 17 seconds shaved off. Navy is 12 laps around a bullspit track in under 12:30 for a 21 year old. So that's 4:10 seconds for every 4 laps around to make time. I should be able to make that if I keep shedding seconds. It's a straight flat paved…

Huge difference is right. The navy boot verses marine boot is night and day.

Just ashamed of how out of shape I have become as a 21 year old male and former college athlete. Even after the academy I just stopped running because I was working steady midnights in a busy city
-
I ran just now in the heat on the boardwalk (flat paved path, not that decking material) and I ran one mile at 9 minutes flat. That's pretty good progress for it being my 4th non-consecutive day of running in over a year. I started at 10:25 and am at 9 flat 4 tries later for one mile.
-
I am running a mile consistently at a good (for someone who hasn't run in over a year) pace at around 9minutes per mile. I need to add a half mile and get it all under 12:30 but I think I can do it before even October because I may be leaving either October or March for basic training for the navy. Then when I get to the…

Ran it again just now (0330) and ran 1 mile in 9:12. Better than the 9:25 from last night at the same time same conditions (slight ocean breeze at sea level, 66 degrees low humidity). I think I'm moving in a direction that I hopefully won't have to stress about the 1.5er at boot camp if I keep shaving time off like this…

I'm on the jersey shore in NJ. I would be going from sea level to Naval Station Great Lakes, so I'd consider that a fair change
-
I Should add not that it's relevant but I swore in August 6, 2015 in New York in the Lt Michael P Murphy room as a HM (Hospital Corpsman) with the goal of crushing A school and getting my FMTB (Field Medical Training Battalion) orders so I can earn my Fleet Marine Force pin and be a combat medic with the USMC. I want…

I ran a mile last night after I got off work at the PD (yes shockingly I work as a police officer and a volunteer firefighter/emt) and I ran it in 9:25. Obviously for my age the time for the mile and a half (navy does 1.5) is 12:30. I'm 21 years old and should be able to do the 1.5 mile run in under that time. I have some…

Thank you guys. Yeah so far it's been coming along slowly. I'm down to 237 as of this morning. Yeah I want to put on muscle but ideally I want my cardio endurance to be up first. A mile and a half running the beach kills me. It's embarrassing. Ultimately I'm also losing the weight to guarantee my enlistment contract with…
