  • I agree if this happens every once in a while it will not matter but if you are doing it on a daily basis then it will, in my opinion, make a difference. I picked fiber because most of us take a multiviamin that takes care of a lot of those micro-nutrients and if you are getting in enough fiber you have to be eating…
  • My point is, in MFP you can track your fiber intake, if you have achieved the right amount of fiber for the day then I would say its okay to have a "cheat" to fill in the rest of your macros. If, on the other hand, you have not hit your fiber requirement then I would eat something with more fiber.
  • Here is just one of many articles explaining the importance of fiber. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/fiber/art-20043983
  • @janjunie yes, if you are not getting enough fiber than eating a pop-tart to get your last 200 calories and 35 grams of carbs in as opposed to a bowl of fruit is counter productive.
  • As long as you are getting enough fiber (~ 30 grams) then its ok, if you are not hitting your fiber numbers than I would stick to a non-cheat item with more fiber.
  • I would not do IF just to do it, if you can hit your macros over the course of the day that is more important than using a particular protocol. When calories and protein are the same, IF vs a non-IF protocol will yield the same results. Do what works best for you, not because someone said you will lose a bunch a weight on…
  • They also work due to the Thermogenic effect. About 25-30% of the protein calories consumed will be burned off during the digestion process as opposed to 4-6% for carbs and 2-3% for fats.

  • I always believed balance was key. I looked at it from this perspective, if all I ate was fast food, refined sugar and soda 90% of the time but then ate fruits, lean meats, and vegetables the other 10%, it would make 0 difference in my health. I would be overweight and be at risk for all kinds of diseases. The same for the…

  • This is a great question, i look for things all the time. It gets boring eating the same types of foods. I usually will just google recipes for protein cakes or protein brownies, stuff like that. I try to get creative with things to fit within my macros. I have not purchased this book but I have heard very good things…
  • If you are exercising at intense levels, doing cardio and strength training then you will need the sodium. I would stay away from processed foods that have sodium as best as you can but if you dont have pre-existing health problems I would not worry about it. Sodium is a vital electrolyte and if you are working out and…
  • This happened to me last year when I went away for a week. I continued to go to the gym, made healthy choices when I could and other times just enjoyed myself. I got back and had "gained" 4 pounds, within 10 days of getting back to monitoring my macros I actually weighed less then I did when i left. The point is, unless…
  • That's a great first step! Anytime you feel tired and don't want to work out or don't want to eat right, take a deep breadth and remember why you decided to get surgery in the first place and change your life. Goodluck!
  • Yes...protein mug cakes are the best! II make a sort of brownie, 1 scoop of Whey, 5g Cocoa, 5G Baking powder, mix to a brownie mix consistency, microwave for about 30 seconds, all done!. I have it 3-4 times a week, add some chocolate chips or peanut butter chips and a little whipped cream, really takes care of my sweet…
  • I like Allmax Isoflex Chocolate Peanut butter and Nubreed Cinnamon French Toast if you want something different. ISO 100 is pretty good, I've had Birthday Cake and their Cinnamon Bun, both good. The Cake one is pretty sweet though.
  • Welcome to the board! My best advice is do it for the right reasons. Don't do it just to "lose weight" do it because you want to change your lifestyle. Once you have the mindset of this is how I will live my life foreever not just until i lose the weight, you will be successful! Slow and steady will win out, don't cut too…

  • Sorry to hear about your loss. Take one day at a time, don't get overwhelmed. If you do fall off (as I have done many times) don't stress it, the next day get back up, eating right and hitting the gym. Goodluck!
  • Like JB035 said, without knowing all the details it you probably need to find out what your caloric maintenance is and slowly add calories as you continue to try to bulk. You will never gain 100% muscle so the more slowly you increase your caloric intake above your maintenance the less fat you will gain. Whether bulking or…
  • Awesome Job! Keep working hard and just remember, don't lose the weight just for your wedding, lose the weight because it makes you feel great and you want to live a healthy lifestyle forever! Keep it up!
  • Personally I do not reward myself for achieving a weight goal but rather for being disciplined throughout the week with hitting my exercise and nutrition goals, regardless of what my weight is. For me, I am great at setting a weight goal and hitting it everytime. However I am also great and gaining it all back within a…
