  • 1200 calories, usually between 1100 and 1200. I keep my carbs around 20 - 25 total carbs, I find that that usually gets me to 15-18 net
  • Friend me. Mine is open to friends. I missed the last week due to illness
  • Add me but beware I'm a nag and I log every day
  • I saw a program on PBS a couple of months ago entitled "The Emperor of All Maladies" It's definitely worth taking a look at. What was sobering is the way that various cancers are treated. Until very recently there was no science to support the treatments offered. People with cancer suffered more from the treatments than…
  • I've never had elk. We're having egg roll in a bowl
  • I decided when I started this that it wasn't a diet, it is a life change. I feel so much better. My macro for carbs is set at 15. Most days my total carbs are around 20 but that would mean that my net carbs are near where I need them to be. 30 is not too low if you feel well. I log faithfully so add me as a friend if you…
  • I'm happy for you and for your success. You are proof that you don't have to suffer to lose weight. Keep learning. Keep trying new things and before you know it this will really become a natural way of life for you.
  • Count me as one more in agreement with everything that was said. Before I started keto I was dieting the high carb low fat way. I ate 1200 calories. I was hungry all the time and always thinking about my next meal. I am now VLC still eating 1200 calories. I am never hungry and I'm losing weight. I for one, do not think a…
  • Hi Katie, glad you're here and making a positive plan to improve your health. I used a website to calculate my macros. it is http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/ I've been losing regularly but slowly probably because of my age. Once you know your macros, don't worry about all the old information you had about fat. Fat is…
  • If you keep it simple it might be easier. Dinner can be broiled steak, roasted chicken, pork chops. If you avoid processed food, the family should as well -- it isn't good for anyone.
  • Fifty pounds is an impressive achievement. Stand proud. You did it!
  • I think that for many people careless eating comes with success. You've done well. It is natural to realize that that small slips don't have much impact. It becomes a problem when there are a lot of small slips that eventually add up to a lot of carbs and calories. I think it may be one of those issues we just have to deal…
  • Take a look at the group - The Low Carber Daily Forum. It is a large and active group of people who post lots of information and support about this Way of Eating (woe.) You will get lots of good information about how the diet is structured. I also found a website when I was starting out that has a free seven day eating…
  • As every comment ahead of this one states - logging is the key to success. It might also help if you watched your calories for awhile. I frequently log my entire day in the morning and edit it as necessary, this keeps me honest and on program. You might also invest in some Ketostix ($6 at Walmart) to determine if you are…
  • Hello, I'm here and I'm back. I had a really off weekend - Daughter and her family (husband and two small boys) came to visit. It was great fun. That said,I just decided to go with it and not worry about my woe until Monday. What a bad decision. I am out of ketosis and must battle my way back. I don't know what the weight…
  • I got lab test results today that feel like a nsv. My cholesterol and triglyceride levels are at their lowest in 5 years. In addition, I am down from a size 14 (US) jeans to a size 10. The 10s are big enough that I need a belt. Never thought this would really happen.

  • I constantly try new things. I figure that if this is going to be my WOE forever then I have to have some variety. I like to cook and have time to do so. I am easily bored by food and am not crazy about leftovers so I do a ton of research to find things I like
  • I use ketostix. I find them weirdly motivating. I know that the concentration numbers are unreliable but I just use them insure that I am in ketosis. The reading has been consistent for the last few weeks at "moderate" I figure that as long as its not negative, I'm good.
  • Hi everyone, I'm feeling kind of out of kilter for the first time since starting this. I went off program on Tuesday for dinner. Got right back yesterday but somehow it seems much harder. Weighed in this am because of the biggest loser challenge and found I gained .4. I usually weigh once a week as I find it less stressful…
  • I do not eat any of the things on the list on a regular basis. the last time I strayed was for a piece of apple pie. I can resist most everything else (for the time being anyway.) No current cravings. I usually manage avoiding temptation as long as I have a suitable alternative available. For example, I avoided a homemade…
  • good for you
  • Hi to all. I have been reading, but not participating in, this thread. It's time to join in. I am a 67 y retired woman. I can sympathize with work related stress. I believe that something similar had a major impact on my life. I gained a lot of weight and got seriously ill. Fortunately i was in a position to be able to…
  • Oct 4. I have not checked in since the 1st. I kind of lost it on the second. Yesterday was ok. Now I need to get accountable and sign in every day. I do not weigh every day because I find the small fluctuations demotivating. I will weigh again on Tuesday. I know I need to add some exercise. That will be part of my goal for…
  • I actually followed the recipe exactly and took the donuts to a tailgate party today. They were pretty good but not good enough to make me binge. Even people who are not low carbing it thought they were pretty good. Make no mistake, these are not Dunkin Donuts. They had nice apple flavor and not too sweet. I made them with…
  • Great job ladies. I wish I had taken some starting pictures.
  • I think that you may be "overthinking" the whole process. LCHF is not like a lot of other weight loss programs mainly because it isn't a diet. It is a lifestyle change and you have the rest of your life to get it right. You'll make mistakes and stumble mainly because what works for some does not work for others. It will…
  • I weigh 161. Carbs are 25 Total. Calories 1200 No exercise. I really want to exercise but I have no motivation. I'm working on it

  • Wishing you the best. You can do it. It's not easy but then things that are hard are usually worth doing. This is not the end of the road merely a bump in the way.
  • I've never done one of these before. Or rather, I've never finished one of these. I read somewhere that a goal that not written down is only a wish. So here goes. Goals for the month of October SW 161.2 GW 157.3 Prepare something I can eat to take to each tailgate party Challenge for Oct 1 Plan eating, log food Carbs at…
  • There is a wonderful website with ice cream and other goodies. It's intended for diabetics but a lot of the recipes can be used. I made the vanilla ice cream several times. I also used the same recipe and flavored it with sugar free salted caramel syrup. It's really worth the trouble. http://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/
