Soul Bread is worth the trouble
I stopped attempting to make low carb bread because of the grittiness of the finished product. Almond and Coconut flours just ruin the texture and make it too unlike wheat bread to be a satisfactory alternative. I saw several discussions about "soul bread" and decided to try it. It was great. The only change I would make…

Joint stiffness and carbs
I fell off the keto wagon and have indiscriminantly been eating carbs. I don't think I've gained much weight but the stiffness and arthritis like pain is back. Is it wishful thinking on my part or does low carb help decrease joint pain? Has anyone else experienced this?

Sugar alcohol
I bought some snacks for an endless car ride to Texas. Among these things are a package of Atkins caramel chocolate peanut nougat bars. It states on the front of the box that each bar contains 2g net carb. Once I got it home I read the nutrition facts. There are 20 g total carbs, 11g dietary fiber and 7 g of sugar alcohol.…

Back to new things discovered recently...
I liked the idea of the original post but the discussion wandered off into ADHD. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I'd really like to read more about things that people have discovered that support this WOE. I've got two -- Doctor in the Kitchen brand has some crackers that are edible and have only 1 net carb…

Has anyone else noticed.....
the mounting body of evidence that high carb, low fat diets are part of the problem not part of the solution?

How to make MFP track net carbs
Some time ago I came across a post that showed you how to deal with the issue of MFP and its inability to track net carbs. Now I know that net carbs are easy to calculate. This little hack will do the math for you and is easy to install. I've been using it since October and it has functioned well without disrupting…

How do you record macros from a restaurant Meal?
My favorite husband and I went out to lunch at a locally owned restaurant. I ordered a meat loaf sandwich and did not eat the bread. I had the restaurant-made bbq sauce served on the side and used it very sparingly (less than 1/2t). I thought I had made a good decision. When I went to log it figuring I could use some…

A cheat day that turned into a cheat week
To get back on track I thought I should fast for a couple of days. I've just been wandering the web and find that fasting may not be the best way to go. Several articles suggest that just going back on program will be enough to get started again. Does anyone have any idea what the best approach for me might be?

Challenges?
I've received some invitations to what look like private challenges. I'd like to join in but I can't find them on the website. Anyone know anything about where they are?

LCD has been one of the most important supports in my changed WOE
The Low Carber Daily forum makes all the changes possible. I read the posts faithfully and celebrate successes. I've learned so much. I've gotten support for those times where I've made a mess of things. It keeps me coming back, improving and changing. When I read of the amazing changes that people have made - improved…

I survived Trick or Treat...
I bought an enormous bag of candy (250 pieces of chocolate) for the trick or treaters. I managed to keep the bag closed until yesterday afternoon when I put most of it in a bowl for distribution. Once the bag opened, the Twix bars started talking to me. They kept calling and telling me how much I wanted to eat one, just…

Sweetners and carb count
I just ran a recipe for salted caramel mug cake through the recipe calculator. It was reported to have 3.5 net carbs. Apparently, the author didn't count the carbs in the sweetner. While I understand that coconut sugar has a low glycemic index, it also is high in carbs. Should these carbs count?

Does anyone have guidelines for maintenance?
Not that I'm ready for maintenance yet but I haven't seen it mentioned. I know I'm on this road for the rest of my life. I'm just not sure how to approach not having more weight to lose

Unbelievably good recipe
I love italian food. It is my favorite cuisine. Following a LCHF way of eating makes this problematic. I found a recipe on www.ibreatheimhungry.com that is so good I didn't care that there was no pasta in it. If you like, and miss, a good dish of pasta try the Cheesy Cauliflower alla Vodka Casserole. It was amazing and is…

Keto Adapted
How do you know that you are keto adapted. Is it just a matter of time or is there some marker that you can test? I haven't found anything on line that explains how you know that the adaptation has taken place

Bone broth
I am currently simmering a pot of bones and veg for what will become bone broth. I used the recipe calculator to determine the nutritional value and came out with something like 600 cal a cup. Is this even possible? How do you log your bone broth intake?

I've been on vacation
I ate low carb every day and stayed in ketosis. Today, I just couldn't do it. I'm not sure why I fell apart, I think it had to do with the thought of eating one more hamburger with no bun and no ketchup. I just couldn't face it. I was prepared when we left the house. I had low carb snacks. On the way home it just seemed…

Disney World
I will be facing a big challenge next week when I go to Disney World with grandchildren. I haven't been there for 25 years so I imagine it is quite changed. Will it be possible to stay in Ketosis while visiting in the Happiest Place on Earth?

I feel much better
I started this WOE on Aug 4 and can't believe how much better I feel. No more stomach aches, a notable increase in energy, and a positive outlook. And to make it even better, I lost 6 lbs. I thought that carbs might be my problem but since I loved them so much; it was hard to face. Now I know that they just aren't worth…
