• Girl I do damn near nothing and still losing lots of weight eating up to 1700 calories a day. Some days I feel full and it's only 1400 but always under. Set your calorie goal higher and aim to stay under it, rather than so few calories and getting discouraged when you go over. It's a mental game.
• Yesssss my tall ladies! There aren't enough of us on here... it's hard to relate to the shorter women saying they are overweight at 120!!!! I am 29, 5'9 at 175 lb and lowering! You will definitely see results at 1200-1300 but I feel it's too aggressive. It will be much easier to stick to it if you give yourself maybe 1600…
• No, I think we are more or less on the same page.
• Yes, when you use the broad definition of processed, I agree. I was identifying a) processed meat replacement and b) fast food items. I don't think it's a fair conclusion that I am advocating against kimchi and preserved lemons lol. I am also simply responding to OP's question... not suggesting that all people must be…
• You're misquoting me... I didn't say it's bad... I said it's "not great". Fresh, whole foods are generally better for health. OP specifically mentioned Beyond Meat, which is not made of whole foods for health, but various food products intended to mimic meat and its nutrients. It's "not great". I reiterate that I believe…
• Not ok. Stay classy. Commenting to an acquaintance that they have lost weight.
• Think of processed meat replacements like any other processed thing and/or fast food. If you enjoy it, have it as an occasional treat. Good for the earth but not great for your body. If you are doing it for your health.... limit (or cut out) processed.
• sounds similar to me but I am worried that I will bring you down psychologically lol. Sometimes weight management and ED can be a difficult combo. I'm rooting for you!
• Just one pound away from putting that behind you!
•
I saw a lady in the checkout lane dressed in business attire with a cart full of frozen treats, I presumed for her officemates/staff. I think that's brilliant and am absolutely going to do it! Great easy way to boost good will and morale. I don't want to hear a word about sabotage
I'm picturing…
• The problem with this is that controlling insulin is under the premise that eating is physiological. IMO it's usually psychological too. Just because your body doesn't have the same insulin reaction doesn't mean you will stop trying to achieve it (with food). I think the only pill that could make it "easier" for me to lose…
• Okay but how much alcohol? lmao.
• Almost 30 year old woman here... experienced bulimia in my early/mid 20s after weight gain... I can relate to what you're saying here and the best advice I can give you is my experience. I know how badly you want to lose the weight and it's easy to be frustrated that you used to have the "will" to be thin. The truth is,…
• Exactly this. You can have whatever you want if it fits into your daily or weekly calorie allotment. Logging will also help you decide when it is worthwhile, and keep you in control. You can try to plan in advance. For example, tonight I will go to dinner so I tried to log what i think I will eat tonight, and ate lighter…
• Well there's your answer... even if this logging and your settings are accurate, it will still take 5 weeks for you to lose only a couple of pounds. (See: "If every day were like today"). So assuming everything is accurate (unlikely) either choose to be okay with slow progress, or change something. I must echo that you…
• I'm sure you realize how silly this is? Of course 5 lbs may not be noticeable. It's probable that your body composition was much different at the lower weight and depending on your diet, exercise, and so many other factors, you may be retaining more water now. Keep working at it and you'll start seeing changes.
•
Looking back at my weight that I have recorded in MFP over the years is a big wake up call. Never would I have thought I was like so much lighter not long ago... and seeing that I had…
• It's not that fun. For example, yesterday I bought a bridesmaid dress... I have to buy a bigger size to accommodate my hips... therefore I will need to pay for more alterations because the top will be too big. Another example... I get horizontal lines on my pants because my hips are not proportionate to my waist. There are…
• Agreed about the deadline. I'm sure you saw "the day" nearing and you knew that your weight and feelings of worth were not going in the direction you wanted, so it should not come as a surprise to you. Next time, pay attention that this isn't working for you. We are overweight because we eat too much, and we eat too much…
• lmao I am so sorry. Maybe I'm projecting. I was also going to guess Professional Axe Thrower. Does that cheer you up?
• franchise manager.. maybe for contractor goods
• omg i used to love them but they are so so salty! I still love it in theory but I feel nauseous as soon as it dissolves in my mouth lol... regret.
• Nothing is more of an insult to chocolate than a hazelnut.
• if you're using your stomach as a gauge to decide a healthy weight for you... don't. It's really only a good way to judge the day you're having and not overall health. Moreover, depending on your age, genetics, whether you have had kids, you can easily store loose skin and muscles on the stomach and that doesn't mean you…
• Yes yes and yes. Weight gain is a factor here. Agree with all else too.
• Remember that when we restrict food we are saying to ourselves that we don’t deserve nourishment and food is love. That means the best advice is to work on your mental health and self love. Once you’re there you can accept that the rest is science. If you eat less calories than maintenance you WILL lose weight but you…
• I’m not entirely confident that logging is a good plan for you, as seeing the caloric values may not be healthy. It may be better to use a diary and/or a chart to tick off when you eat a balanced meal. Just be sure to talk to your dr to check that you’re on the right path. Wishing you good mental health!!
• You have to just learn to love yourself. Your new bellybutton is a result of loose skin and if you don’t like that you’ll have to gain the weight back (obvi not a good option). The important thing is that you are worthy of love at any size and now you are likely much healthier!
• Roger that. My same thoughts above. I'll add that feeling "bloated and not skinny" can happen from just one bad meal (or a series) and once you are eating better again, you may immediately feel less bloated and realize your progress again.
• Home made kale chips.... MMMM!!! So crunchy and very flaky and delicate, which slows me down a bit lol! They aren't too fussy but here's how I make mine: 1. Rip up enough clean, dry kale (the kind doesnt matter.. I prefer curly) to cover two baking sheets (you want it to lay in a single layer but it shrinks a lot) 2. In a…
