  • Trying squeezing fresh lemon to your daily water intake. Lemon helps flush toxins from the body and, at least for me, I tend to pee more frequently when I drink lemon water.
  • And similar to my response above, you take responsibility for your decisions! That's fantastic!
  • See, this is what I'm talking about. You go looking for motivation; you take it upon yourself to change your outlook, your behavior. You don't wait for someone else to come along and do it for you. Perhaps my words weren't as eloquent as they could have been, but thanks to all who've helped me prove my point.
  • Thank you, chesves!
  • Hey ladies! As a veteran MFPer, if you're looking for pals, you might want to consider opening up your diaries for viewing. Do this by going to Settings, then Diary Settings, then Diary Sharing, and finally select Public. That way, any friends you make can see your diary activity and as a byproduct, you'll generally see…
  • First of all, you do sound like a great guy and awesome father. Secondly, you are not fat. You HAVE fat. BIG difference and I would encourage you to change your mindset. Consider this metaphor: You've been carrying a 100 lb sack of sugar for a number of years. You've decided you don't want to carry it anymore but the…
  • I'm a natural-born water guzzler so I don't log it. I have a specific water cup for home and bottle for gym. Each can hold up to 16 oz. So (because I'm recuperating from surgery and excused from the gym for now), I know how many times I fill up my at home cup.
  • Not sure if you're aware, but MFP won't allow you to close out your daily diary if you have consumed less than 1,000 calories. And ditto what everyone else said: less calories in, more calories out = loss of fat which = loss of weight.
  • Wow, carbs are super-low! Do you have enough energy throughout the day? Mine are: C 45% F 25% P 30% A very kind fitness expert who belongs to the site helped me set mine. I'm a small-framed 64 YO F, 5'4". I also did a little research and I think mine are great for me. Curious as to why you have Cs so low and F so high?
  • What did your doctor suggest in terms of the amount of calories to consume? I agree with everyone else: 1200 - 1400 is dangerously low. I'm 5'4" and am maintaining at 1340 cals per day. Unless your doctor or nutritionist says otherwise, eat more, bro.
  • 5'4", age 64 (small frame) SW 145 CW 115 GW 115 (Just hit it Monday! Woot!) My calorie goal is 1340. I'm recovering from surgery so exercise is on hold till end of August, but when I was actively exercising, I lifted 3X per week and did variations of cardio 5-6 X per week. When I resume, I'll keep my weight lifting…

  • This. How much protein are you consuming? The recommended daily intake is 0.8 to 1.5 g per pound of body weight. I find that when I don't consume enough protein, I'm more tired. If you don't already try adding a protein supplement specifically made for women, as those contain nutrients that women especially need.
  • I just hit goal weight on Monday so this is my first week of maintenance. I don't plan to stop tracking because I plan to someday die at my current weight! LOL
  • Hi Julie and Toadhunter! I've been on the site for about 18 months and just reached my goal weight (YAY) so I'm in maintenance mode as of yesterday. I'd love to be your MF Pal! Feel free to add me.
  • I'm with you. I've had two leg/ foot surgeries in the last two years. The last one was just this past June 10. I'm still recovering and the nature of the surgery requires the use of a walker. I'm losing simply by deficit. I have not exercised since the end of May. I'm a little worried about losing muscle definition, but if…
  • I had leg/foot surgery on June 10. I stopped logging the day before the surgery because I knew I'd be hospitalized for a few days, not to mention groggy from pain meds. The hospital food was horrible plus I didn't (and still don't) have much of an appetite. Once I returned home my husband prepared my meals. He is not into…

  • Another thing to take into consideration. What did you set your activity level at when you started? I was just jolted today when I was looking at reports and decided to look through settings and found I had set my level at one level above consistently active (can't remember the terms used). I'm friggin' retired! So I…
  • Mine was removed via emergency surgery about four years ago. I really don't feel many after-effects, other than after eating greasy foods. Once in awhile I'll feel an upset stomach but if that's all I get, I'm OK with that. Gall Badderless People Unite! Feel free to add me.
  • I'm 64 but I consider it a "young" 64. I'm on MFP all the time. I joined because...well take a look at my profile. So welcome to the "cool kids" group! Oh, and feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like.
  • Hi, I'm on MFP all the time, so feel free to add me. I've been a member for over a year, but didn't feel like logging every single morsel of food so I didn't use it. Then on April 1 I decided to get really serious and love how my progress is going. I have a lovely group of friends who are caring and supportive; join us!
  • I'd pose the question to MFP. I'm sure there must be a way to keep your data.
  • With respect, motivation has to come from within. You might get encouragement from others, but you have to want this change badly enough to be willing to commit to a permanent whole lifestyle change. Once you decide what that reason for change is, set your goals and figure out how you're going to get there. Give yourself…
  • You can throw in the towel or you can use it to wipe the sweat off your face. I'm not here to be average. I'm here to be awesome. In two weeks you'll feel it; in four weeks you'll see it; in eight weeks you'll hear it. Keep it up!
  • What an amazing difference, especially for a loss of less than 2 lbs! You look mahvelous!
  • Macros will be different for most everyone. Lot of factors involved. But I'll give you mine: 45C / 30P / 25F. Here's a link you may find helpful on how to calculate your macros. http://healthyeater.com/how-to-calculate-your-macros
  • Look up Daniel Bartlett on YouTube. He has exercise routines for low impact on up to HIIT. And in some programs he incorporated weights. I like his programs.
  • Actually, not true, at least in my gym. It is true they frown on people who slam down weights and walk around strutting their stuff. But there are guys (and women) who are seriously cut who work out in my gym.
  • This is why I love Planet Fitness, my gym. They have in huge letters on the wall "NO JUDGEMENT ZONE." (If I told them they spelled "judgment" wrong, that would be judging them, wouldn't it?) Trainer Tom that I sometimes work out with at the gym is all over lifting. His philosophy is to lift first hitting the big muscles…
  • It happens. The worst thing you can do is to allow it to derail you. Forgive yourself, forget about it and move on. Continue the path you established. You'll be fine! And here's a thought: that day of overeating may have spiked your metabolism so you might see some movement on the scale soon!
  • WOW! You look great! Yes, it's hard work but it is soooo worth the effort. I now understand the changed mindset we see from The Biggest Loser contestants. Congrats!
