MrM27 Well the GI scale (referring only to GI and not GL) is based on how quickly the food affects blood sugar levels. I don’t see why it needs explaining in order for me to put forward research findings. But to elaborate for those who might be interested: when we consume a CHO like white bread along with say, peanut…

I stand corrected, regarding their national guidelines. Learn something new every day ;-) But their 16,000 lit review did take place and their findings were positive for high fat/protein low carb diets. Where did you get the % for their 50% carb based diet? im not refuting you...generally interested.

I'm going to get a lot of flak here, but don't blame me...blame the research. :-) ...all I ask is, please be open minded and find the evidence (pubmed is a good place). If you have opposing evidence to support your claim that rice and bread etc. should be consumed (often), then please put it forward. I'm not against such…

I can totally understand why lifting can be almost a form of meditation. frank zane, even Arnold talk about focusing completely on the mind muscle connection. When lifting heavy, if your not completely focused, it can be dangerous. Focus is key. Statistically, visualising your 1rm prior to performance = 10% increase in…

Its seems everyone agrees that most importantly, you must moblise and warm up. How you do this is personal preference. Then the stretching...even sport scientists can't agree. A few 'facts' (term used lightly) that have been found. 1. Old school static stretching. You know where you hold the stretch for 30 seconds each. It…

I agree, do what you enjoy. As for numbers I understand completely. 'Run keeper' app. You know it? Its great, logs your miles, where you went and you can rig it so it tells you at intervals what speed you are doing, kcals burnt etc. You could take that a step further and get a heart rate monitor too. In fact there are…

Hey mate. Incline level 3 is a little steep (but good going). If your seeking to mimick outdoor running conditions, ie wind resistance, you only need it at level 1. But keep at 3 if you wish. No harm in it. :-) In my prime, this is the main cardio workout I did. I was training for the 1.5mile run. This program got me to a…

As mentioned, go for dark chocolate. Very high in anti oxidants. Plus as its rich you may find you won't eat as much as you might with milk chocolate. Or do what I do. Dont buy any or have it in the house. You win, chocolate loses!

This is something you could try ...it works for me and I don't count kcals (apart from today :-/). Don't eat bfast. Don't eat until 12pm. You won't be that hungry, as your blood sugar levels will be stable. Blood sugar levels rise and fall when we eat. The higher the glycimic index of the food (more simple the carb) the…

24 hour fasting once a week. Simple. Sorted.

I've never tried any of those jacked 3d etc, sound good though. I make my own, laboratory grade caffeine, beta alanine, turine (think I spelt that right). Make it as strong as you like, but be careful on the caffine. Get my products from myprotien.

Bread is the devil (pretty sure Arnold quoted that. Either way, I agree).

Bodypump is great. Used to be an instructor many moons ago. Highly recommend BP, literally to everyone. Its really good! Combat too...didnt teach that but its also great fun! Keep it going!

I hope you don't mind me messaging in this group, or if its just for girls? Anyway, something I love doing is helping people with their fitness especially weights, and especially women and weightlifting (studied it as my thesis and huge believer in it!). There are no doubt lots of people that can give you great advice on…

Ive never heard of it (I live in UK), but as a proper kickboxer...if they make you feel welcome, you enjoy yourself, learn 1-2 things and have a good workout...then id say its good. But only one way to find out. If you go, let us know what you think. Hopefully you love it...kickboxing is great fun!

Yes. But the duration depends on the intensity. For example, I'll train very hard aerobically/anaerobically for 30 min, then my kickboxing class will start and have 1.5 hours of that. OK, the KB is intermittent with its intensity, and varies each session (so not 'true' long, slow, continuous aerobic work) but overall its 2…

Lots of people will say you can't do both. Lose weight and build muscle. I disagree and so does scientific literature. Personally I wouldn't get too focused on all this macros bs. Unless your on the roids you are not going to suddenly get huge and muscular. Boston loyed on YouTube talks openly about steroid use, he says he…

Going by scientific literature, it general states that circuit training is the best. Which makes sense...weight lifting and body weight movements combined with aerobic exercises and some intervals, in one! You have nailed it all! Following this is pure HIIT, high intensity interval training. Such as 5 sets of 30 seconds…
