  • Thanks for the recs!! I'm reading "Strong Curves" right now and liking the looks of that program so far. I will definitely look into the concept2 rower!
  • This morning I completed my last run of week 14, so I am DONE DONE DONE with B210K!!! Hooray!!!! The run went very smoothly (unlike earlier this week when I encountered a wild boar) and I felt strong the whole way :) I'll probably run a practice 10K or 2 over the weekend as I don't have any races scheduled. I'm scheduled…
  • You are amazing, @taeliesyn. Totally insane, but amazing :) Meanwhile I've been complaining this week that upping my mileage to 6 miles has me feeling a bit sleepy during the day...LOL!

  • Congrats @eyethree!! I'm scheduled to finish B210K this week. A few months back, in a haze of misguided grandiosity, I signed up for a half marathon on 11/15...soooo, I'll be moving on to Hal Higdon's half marathon trainer. Have you signed up for any "official" 10K's? I've got a few coming up that I'm nervous about! Well,…
  • Amazing! Congrats!!!
  • @taeliesyn - I'll be cheering for you from Texas! I can't imagine running for 12 hours.... I finished week 13 (run 30 min, walk 1 min x 2) of my 10K trainer this a.m., which means only one week left. I ran without difficulty, although some frustration with my 12 min/mile pace. I just keep reminding myself of @ftrobbie…

  • I have 3 basset hounds. They'd be more likely to drive me to work than join me for a run :) My beach run/5K time came back as 34:14, so better than I thought! I was 7th out of 32 in my age/gender group, and 25th out of all the women.
  • The 5K on the beach last night was beautiful but tough! The course was down-and-back, and the first/last half mile was fairly brutal due to super loose sand. Once you made it out to the water line, the sand was more compact and the scenery even more gorgeous. It was at night so everyone was wearing head lamps; my friend…
  • I'm on week 12 of the 14 week Zen Labs 10K trainer. I've decided to just stick with this trainer (rather than alternating with the Active 10K trainer) as Zen Labs is the one I find most challenging. Plus the timing works out very well; my plan is to start the Higdon Novice 1 half marathon trainer on 8/25 to be ready for my…
  • Here's the group for people who have completed C25K and are moving on to the 10K trainer: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/526-bridge-to-10k

  • I went to the Blacklight Run 5K last night. It was very similar to @eyethree 's Color Run....not timed, several "color stations", and about 90% of the 12,000 participants had no interest in actually running. It was a bit frustrating because people were stopping on the course to take selfies/group photos and walkers would…
  • Great work, @samra338 !! I'm scheduled for another 5K tonight. It isn't a timed event, so I guess I'll just keep track with my Runkeeper app. It's a "Blacklight Run" - apparently like the Color Run but the dye/paint they use is the kind that glows under blacklights. There are 12,000 people registered to go...I hope it…

  • Nice to see you back, fit4life_73...I have been wondering what you were up to :)
  • Well, I ran my first organized 5K today...what an experience! I struggled a bit with pacing (going too fast) but was able to keep running the whole time. I don't have my official time yet, but it was approximately 32 minutes and change. Soooo much better than I thought it would be :) I am stoked!! But I definitely need to…
  • I'm at the same place as you training-wise. I have my first 5Ks in August (next weekend and the weekend after), a 10K in September, another 10K in October, and a half marathon in November. I have found the terror to be extremely motivating :)

  • Well, I did W2/D2 of the Active 10K trainer this morning (the one @maggiekat7 was talking about last week). The usual 5 min warm-up, then an easy 10 min jog, then alternate 2 mins of fast runs with 2 mins of jog (repeat x2), then 8 min steady run, then 5 min cool-down. Apparently in terms of speed, jog < steady run < fast…
  • Did W10/D1 of the Zen Labs C210K trainer this morning - 5 min warm up....jog 15 min then walk 1 min (repeat 3 times)...5 min cool down. I ended up covering 4.74 miles which might be the farthest I've ever ran in my life :) I also learned a valuable lesson about the perils of gray capri running pants in the summer humidity.…
  • Over the years, I've prescribed it to several patients. Honestly, I've not seen any dramatic weight loss but never seen anyone gain on it either. It is effective for anxiety and so-so for smoking cessation (Chantix is best for this, IMHO).
  • Medications are definitely important, but individual or group psychotherapy may help you develop some healthy coping skills for your mood disorder. Best of luck to you!
  • Greetings to all! I had to take a few days off from activity due to straining an internal oblique muscle while lifting weights. It was pretty unpleasant - felt like someone punched me in the side, couldn't breathe deeply without hurting for a few days. I'm back up to speed now and ran W1/D3 of the zen labs 10K trainer…

  • Love it! Keep it up!
  • It doesn't usually cause much of an increase in appetite, but it really varies from person to person. The energy improvements it brings (with resolution of depression) should help with activity level as well. As long as you are tracking your daily food intake, you should be fine. Any weight gain will be from eating more,…
  • I'm alternating the active 5K to 10K app (I'm using the drill sergeant trainer...LOL) with the Zen Labs 10K trainer (I used their C25K program, so it's just a continuation). I've noticed with my active 5K to 10K trainer that I don't always get the audio cues (such as when the warm up is done and I need to switch to…
  • @ftrobbie - thanks for the reading rec, I will definitely add it to my list! @samra338 - I also found W9/D1 challenging, but found my feet (and took it easy on the pace) for the repeat sessions. I'm a newbie so no advice on hills, but I am certainly interested in what the more seasoned runners have to say. @maggiekat7 -…
