I just had a new personal best run. I ran 4 miles in 38 minutes. It used to take me 48 to 50 minutes to run those 4 miles. My first two miles were 9 minute miles.

Thanks all. Yesss you can get off medication too if you want it hard enough. It's not easy but it's so worth the effort!

Apologies for the size of the photos. I don't know how to make them smaller lol

Congrats on your success! You have an amazing story to tell and you can inspire others. You look much younger now!

I had eye cataract surgery last week so I'm not allowed to lift weights for 2 weeks. BOO! Today I went to the gym and spent 50 minutes on the treadmill, combining running with walking and then 45 minutes on the elliptical. It was a pretty good workout!

What a great response! Way to save your friendship. It would have been all too easy to react in the heat of the moment. You showed great maturity.

Congrats! I remember when I ran my first mile so I know what a huge deal that is. You'll be running 3 or 4 miles without stopping before you know it. Just enjoy the warm glow of doing something you couldn't do before.

What keeps me going is seeing the weight falling off. Seeing my old slim face re-appear in the mirror, the face I haven't seen in over twenty years. And seeing my lower fasting sugar numbers every morning and knowing I am staying off my diabetes medication. Nothing motivates you more than seeing continued success.

Congratulations and you really do look beautiful in that pic!

It has to be my legs. I've been running for several months and they're really getting lean and I'm seeing muscle definition. My legs have never looked or felt better.
-
Great job! You look so happy and healthy in the second photo.

I have a couple of NSV's to report today. I just ran 4 miles today for the second day in a row. I've never run 8 miles in two days before. The second one is kind of cool. I still have a bit of a belly, which sometimes stops me seeing just how far I've come. But on the second half of my run the sun was behind me and as I…

I'm about to go for a run. That'll burn off some calories that I plan to eat later. Other than that I'm not going to worry too much if I go over. It's just one day and will hardly derail me. I've been doing very well eating under my calorie goal lately and tomorrow I'll just get back on the wagon with no regrets. If this…

What a transformation! Congrats. You look amazing!

You're here trying again. You're only a failure when you give up completely. Hopefully it will stick for you this time.
-
I'm going to go for a run in the morning. Probably Friday, too.
-
You look amazing! And I have no doubt you will continue to look amazing. You're very inspirational.

You look great! You certainly don't look like you're approaching 50!

It's never easy to know the right thing to do when you someone you know is losing weight. I've read posts on here from people complaining that nobody comments and there are posts complaining when people do. I understand how being asked if you're sick or someone telling you to stop as you're "skinny enough" but if someone…

I just ran 4 miles in 40 minutes. A new personal best. I'd taken an enforced break from running, too. I had eye cataract surgery on Wednesday. Sometimes taking a break makes you come back stronger!

Congrats! That's an amazing success story!

That is brilliant. And, yeah, it kind of sums up how I feel about my weight loss!

That's an amazing turnaround. I had a similar experience getting my A1C down from 7.2 to 5.5. And I know exactly what you mean about being angry at yourself for letting yourself get that way. But you can't go back. All you can do is make sure you don't go down that road again.
-
My cholesterol was good too. Your doctor should take you off something. I went in June and my A1C then was 5.8 and the doctor took me off Metformin. I hope to read good news for you next week. Good luck.
-
I had excellent news from the doctor today. In December my A1C was 7.2. The doctor wanted to put me on a second diabetes drug. Instead, I joined MFP, lost over 25 lbs and started running. In June my A1C was down to 5.8, the upper end of normal. Today I found out my A1C is now 5.5, the exact middle of the normal range. I…

I had something of a decent NSV tonight. Being married to an Italian American does not always make it easy to lose weight or to maintain weight loss. Especially at family gatherings where there are regularly plates of delicious Italian cookies and usually at least 3 or 4 cakes. Tonight there were 4. I managed to eat very…

I had my best workout I've ever had, burning over 1200 calories. I ran 4 miles, lifted weights and did 35 minutes on an elliptical.

I love motivating posts like this. Great job. Once you start down this road, there's no turning back. Why would anyone want to go back to being unfit and unhealthy. It's a journey of a lifetime.

I went from being a skinny teenager to ballooning up to 214 lbs. The weight crept on me gradually through my 20's. I wasn't happy with the way I looked, only looked in the mirror when I had to. The biggest lie I told myself was I'll do something about it one day. Then I became diabetic. It still took me a few years to get…
