The only super food that work for my memory is my cell phone calendar, and even then I'll forget to check it! LOL

Challenges complete!!

Awesome challenges, and I desperately need both!!

I put lots of healthy grazing food out. Fresh veggies with dips (made with greek yogurt instead of sour cream). also I eat 5-6 meals a day so it keeps me from being too hungry, though I'm just staying within calories this week, no restrictions on the types of food. It's a test for me on a theory about weight loss.... long…

No, you don't, unless its taking you more than about 25% below your minimum. then you risk your body going into starvation mode and losing muscle instead of fat or losing nothing at all.

I spent 4 hours yesterday reading and reading and reading some more about nutrition and macros (fats, proteins, and carbs) on this website, and so many of the things I use to believe have been blown apart as absolute *bull*. :::sigh::: I ran all over the internet pulling peer-reviewed articles and confirming or debunking…

Oh, I sooo know what you mean hippychick59! I have been one again off again with the gym since I started this journey in April, but I REALLY want to make the gym a fun place I look forward to going, and I can only do that by actually GOING! lol Here's to a new week!!
-
Girl, you have found your way to the right place! This is a GREAT group of people, and believe it or not, this journey can actually be way easier than you think. It's all about baby steps and refusing to quit. Every one of us fails/slips/messes-up, but you dust yourself off and step back on the path. You can do this, we…

Ok, fitness goal this week is to hit the gym every other day and get in 30 min. of strength training and 30 min. of aerobic activity. It's doable, but like shirayne said, motivation will be the harder part!
-
I think this week's quirky goals should be to be spot on with our eating for at least 4 days and hit our workout goal at least 3 times. Whatcha think? A week of just refocusing or hyper-focusing???

Day 2 of some serious strength training, another full body work out repeated from Sunday, and sheesh my muscles were tight and sore! Stretching worked out the kinks, and I feel super now that I'm home. I forgot how bittersweet those initial aches could be! They suck, don't get me wrong, but they are incredibly satisfying…

@nik713 it is said that telling everyone you're on a weight loss/lifestyle journey is a good way to stay accountable, but that's not always the case for everyone. I've told my closest friends so they don't bring me well-intentioned food gifts, but for me the accountability is just reporting to this awesome group of people…

3rd herb DONE! Fresh basil chopped really fine on a personal pizza I developed yesterday. You take 1 7" flour tortilla, pile it with fresh sliced tomato, thinly sliced onion, fresh basil, fresh spinach, garlic, onion powder, oregano, and then pop it in the oven for about 10 minutes. I then pulled apart 2 slices of Velveeta…

Welcome @tetorteson , and not to worry... all of us spend time picking ourselves up from slips, trips, and falls. The point is to keep moving forward  You've found a great group and congrats on your progress so far!!

I REALLY need to try dancing for exercise. I love my weights, but I'm just NOT loving the treadmill.
-
Woop!!! WOOP!!!! WAY TO GO!!!

@ptkat28 Given your height and the fact you say you're always full, you may not need that many calories. I'm stuck if that's the case :::scratching my head:::: The only thing I can think is to either tweak your diet in some way or consider seeing a physician/nutrionist for a work up. I know a friend of mine who was…

Ok, got in some fresh dill today and fresh chives two nights ago, and I've managed 2 nights of 8-hour sleep. I plan on getting at least another 9 hours of sleep tonight because I don't have to get up in the morning, but wondering what other fresh herb I can find... any suggestions?
-
@ptkat28 I think you're calories are to low... in fact I know they are. Almost every peer-reviewed major study indicates that a minimum calorie consumption for women is 1200 calories, unless you are extremely small statured and/or have a slower than normal metabolism. See if you can't get at least 1200 calories in, and in…

@taketwo2014 I weigh in monthly because I will get neurotic watching the numbers, and I am a positive reinforcement type girl. So, weighing in once a month guarantees me a loss EVERY time... yeah yeah, it's a mind game, but it works for me! LOL

Wow, I missed one day and I'm SOOO behind on reading posts! So, welcome to all the newbies and congrats on beginning your journey. We have a super great group of people here, and there is nothing but understanding, support, and motivation here, so take advantage! I'm with you, @2run2ski, we do jive in our thought…

(sorry, accidentally hit the Enter key)... anyway, got 7 hours of sleep last night and I'm SOOO freakin sleepy! I woke up thinking, "Girl, you gotta get 8 solid hours". I am starting to think that sleep deprivation (less than 6 hours) actually works like fasting, the longer you do it the less you notice how much you need…
-
OMG, got 7 hours of sleep last night

@danielle7577 mowing the lawn... definitely a workout! Nice work!

I've had turmeric and it's good.... fenugreek has a hint of a black licorice taste to me, and I despise black licorice, so I don't mess with it. My mom likes to cook with fennel in certain dishes, that has the same licorice hint for me. Yuck!!! Eww!!! BLAH!!! lol I'm a big fan of chicken because you can change its taste so…

Welcome back @danielle7577 and congrats on the success! I can't wait to reach the 50lb mark! @taketwo2014 congrats on getting back on your path. We've all been there, shoot, I've been there a dozen times! The success is that you came back, you've brushed yourself off, and you're back in the fight! You've got this!!…

That's it exactly! It's like stretching. You're not going to be limber like a gymnastics pro from the start, and it won't be easy, but you ease into it, figure out what works and always always always look for new ways to stretch that work better, but keep your tried and true practices as your foundation. I have go-to meals…

OMG, that fitness challenge will definitely be a challenge for me! I'm lucky when I get a full 6 hours! I'm in. Same for the food challenge. I've been wanting to check out the fresh chives at our farmers market. Yummy!
-
WOO HOO!!! That's amazing! You're my official hero of the week! I was super proud I didn't order at Carl's Jr. the other day, but an all-you-can-eat buffet?! That's my personal house of horrors! LOL Good job!!

I just wanted to add that sometimes you have to look at other people's journeys to understand that we all travel to goal in our own way. I found one member here who has lost a stunning amount of weight(318 lbs!) without ANY exercise! Check him out at myfitnesspal.com/profile/stogie40 We all have to make this journey work…
