Hi @dawnbgethealthy , I love your record-keeping. <3 Such a helpful thing to do to be able to see patterns in one's behaviour. Are you finding it's getting easier to moderate over time? I like how you said logging in to post keeps you accountable. Are you noticing like I did that drinking affects you just as much as…

Yay, now we're back to the nuanced and insightful stuff. I  you @CSARdiver @Carlos_421 @heybales @NorthCascades  I probably should have said earlier about doing lots of stretching and having massages myself which made me really wonder if it was actually doing much good. For example, last year I did the splits…

28g of sugar in a 42 g bag of Minstrels. Yum, Minstrels! Yep, I like those for a nice treat in the evening after a run. Nobody should give advice about your blood sugar levels based on just what you've posted. See a doctor and get tests if you haven't for a while and you have concerns about your health. You can check your…

Thanks very much, Carlos. This is your first reply. I thought I'd replied to it, but maybe I didn't explain clearly. Mobility work helps joints and tendons, yes. I just don't think I know of a physical reason why stretching or massage help muscles as opposed to joints and ligaments. Keep in mind this part of my OP: After…

Beautiful silhouette! <3 It looks like the only thing I'd change if it was me is you just need a better fitting bra. I'd also look into articles on summoning self-esteem and preparing for stressful social situations.

Nice gotcha. The debate was going well at that point because people were reading the posts and adding good nuanced information. It's now at the point where it's getting too long and people haven't read it all and are nitpicking the title and posting gut reactions. I'm still waiting for scientific evidence on how stretching…

Thanks for making so many scientific comments in Community. People like you are how this thing gets the best results.

https://youtu.be/D9YdBfR299s Similar to Brandon Wadas, I lost 80 lb and have kept it off 3 years and I've always eaten over 100 grams of sugar and 50% carbs a day, and my blood work and health are "perfect" according to multiple doctors. Disclaimer: I also walk and run a lot. In the 80s people thought fat made you fat and…

Thanks heaps, my dear friend! I've bought a card and will send it with a gift for Mother's Day soon, but after reading this, I think I'll also send something today. We use social media, messages, emails, and phone, but I know how much she loves mail. Thank you! xx It was exhausting helping her decide what things to keep…

@SaraKim17 Hugs xx The food was a delicate, delicious work of art.

Welcome, @ForAmanda222 <3

That's great you're in healthcare. What field, may I ask? You haven't mentioned your diet/eating, other than saying you eat 'clean' which usually rings alarm bells around here, and that you log calories and weigh food, however your profile says you only joined MFP 3 days ago. Could you describe your logging and calorie…

I was just reading studies yesterday that even listening/talking while driving increases driver error. Might depend on your car, but I think you'd be safe if, only when watching the lights and traffic at a stop sign, you could lift one or both your knees up so your feet are off the floor, and that way you'd exercise your…

Eat some fibrous food and/or fruit during the day and have an amount of pizza and icecream that won't go over your calorie limit. No problem!

I switched to decaf coffee in October, and didn't have any "withdrawal symptoms". I found I had less ups and downs in the day after that. If that's any help. I do now even notice the smaller physical effect of just the heat of the drink. My weight has stayed at my goal weight, but I credit that due to logging everything.…

Info on lymphoedema from an evidence-based site (Australasian Lymphology Association): https://www.lymphoedema.org.au/about-lymphoedema/what-is-lymphoedema/ It might help to read the stories at the bottom of the link too.

This is so true. Please everyone read this and think about it. To put it in simpler terms, crash dieting and eating too little ends up messing with your metabolism and usually causes yo-yo weight gain or eating disorders. What too many people think of "being healthy" they believe means starving themselves on kale smoothies…

@nocgirl72 Please don't eat under 1200 calories. :disappointed: And I'll add, please eat back exercise calories too.

The OP image had reference to warmups before running. Apologies for not writing the complete encyclopedia on health and exercise yet. I am genuinely interesting in snowflake clarifying how stretching helps their muscles with swimming and gym. I am not trying to trump/gotcha anyone. I'm sad you are reducing this…

Had a huge life change with helping my mum leave town after 40 years and her retiring over 500 km away. Been maintaining weight, logging, exercise (reduced running distance during this week but still regular), drawing daily, studying language daily. I can't bear to think of what life would be like if I didn't have my daily…

What sort of warmup stretches do you mean? Static or dynamic? Could you give examples of how they help your muscles pre-exercise (not your joint/tendon mobility) other than increasing bloodflow? Haha, welcome to the debate section. It was done on purpose, to create debate, and it's going quite well. The discussion can't be…

Most things are pretty much the same as last update, and going well. Focusing currently on: Relaxation - Still haven't been getting a lot of good sleep. But mum has finally settled into her new home, and my exhausting trip to help her ended last night. Creativity - working on things that take time, doing little bits a day.…

Hugs, @spiriteagle99 <3 :'( I'm going to go there and ask if rest only helped "in the short term" because you only stopped for the short term? We also had a long debate about the glute thing and a current one on stretching you might want to read. I'm starting to know a list of people prescribed stretches and glute work…

IMHO Post-exercise static stretching/massage/foam rolling only "work" to the extent that they might help bloodflow in muscles. A walk is far more effective. As I said in the OP, and as @heybales and @mom23mangos mentioned, stretching is good for joints and tendons mobility, but unnecessary if you are hypermobile.…

Hugs to all who are injured. Hate it when people who are committed to exercising can't, just as at the same time people who should exercise won't! Wish we could share our dedication with them!
-
You "struggle to lose weight most days"? Nobody's scale weight drops every day. And it definitely shouldn't. How many calories are you eating daily?
-
Yep. I'd even now phrase it more as: I take in less energy than I burn.
-
@NewLIFEstyle4ME Gossip! Definitely something to let go of! It makes you feel bad when you do it, and can come back and make you feel bad again and again. One of my "Absolute Nos" now.

Mum finally retired from the church 2 weeks ago aged 78. She moved to the next state. I helped her pack. Just realised it was a sort of "Swedish Death Cleaning" we talked about earlier in this thread. She loved it and has replaced some things and donated and sold heaps. I found a bottle of her home made tomato sauce from…
