Thanks guys. Going for a 5K on my lunchbreak. Will have a slower buddy with me so anything around 25mins will be awesome.

Lol. We're a fairly negative nation at times. It's only when you're online that you feel it's ok to be positive. For me, I hated the drink culture...actually not so much drink per se, as over drinking. Wednesday nights - off to the pub to watch the football. Thursday - a few quick ones as it's nearly the weekend. Friday -…

Thanks. You can do it too. Brough a buddy out with me on my lunchtime jog today. Pushed him hard. We did 4.5km in 24 mins. He needs to lose about 15kg (about 35lbs). He felt it but we're doing it again on Wednesday.

Back atcha. Let me know how you got on.

Started with free weigts - no results. Got trainer who explained that technique has to be very good to get results. Moved me to machines which work the eaxct muscles and reduce the risk of strain. Moved back to free weights after I was happy with technique.

Today is dress down Friday and I have decided to rock it. Smart shirt, expensive jeans, fresh shave, gel in hair...no more sweat shirts on Fridays for me.
-
Brilliantly put.

Just donated 3 DKNY and 2 Faconnable shirts to charity shop. Effectively they've just got 600 euros worth of shirts which were all bought in January. I hope they find a good home. I also went out and bought four equally stylish but far cheaper TM Lewin shirts...slim fit. Yay! Cheaper stuff looks good now.

Wow. Interesting. (Ate snake in China once - friend in a weird oil - served with head attached).

Don't look at ideal weight as your first goal. Goals must be short and achievable, not just in weight loss but anywhere. Google SMART objectives - used in business all the time. Set yourself the goal of dropping 0.5 BMI points in two weeks.

By the way, there's an ambudance of nutritionists, but a huge lack of qualified dieticians. I know it's much more expensive to qualify, but you'd be great at it as you've come through the psychological barrier as well.

Well done. Can I ask a question? Are you Irish?
-
Serious answer: No. Not even close to burning enough calories. Fun answers 1. Depends on how many people involved 2. If that's your only workout, you should also count the walk of shame. 3. If the other person is heavy, does it count as weight training

I did a 5k last night as part of a Corporate Event. I started in the 20-25 min tranche but got very frustrated with those around me. It was quite a big event, about 5000 runners. Finished in 23.43 but felt that I could do a lot better without the huge crowds so aiming for a sub 50 min 10k in November. A few years ago I…

I feel exactly the same way. Looked in the mirror and thought to myself "this cr@p has to stop!" Good for you.

Congrats from Ireland.

You can both do it. Go for it.

Went into Armani store a few weeks ago and the sales clerk said "size 38" to his colleagues when asking for a jacket for me. He didn't even measure me. Was in a privately owned store today and the owner immediately said "38". Neither even bothered to take out the measuring tape. I was 44 at my brother's wedding four years…

Well done on a good start but the answers are all in your post. You know yourself that you went out and didn't burn calories. The hard bit is motivation. There's no catch all answer but try the following: 1. Tell your friends that you want to lose weight over and consistent and steady period. Most will be supportive but…

You already look awesome.

I find I longer "want" to eat things like bacon, white bread, sausages etc. I also find that I have far more willpower to resist the things I do want like cakes and biscuits. As long as you measure you will succeed. What gets measured, gets done.
-
Eat anything you want but remember that somethings are more filling than others. So you can always have a day where you eat sausages and cakes, but you'll be hungry by the end of the day (and in a bad mood and will subsequently crash and give up.) Eat porridge, drink water...and then allow yourself a preplanned treat. To…

Meant to say that I now think that ALL clothes look good on me.

I'm the other way around. I now think that clothes look good on me.
-
Rock on!
-
Even that fact that you are now wearing a cool hat as opposed to a baseball cap makes you look awesome. Well done.

Only your eyes and mouth are the same. Literally every other single thing, hair, face, legs, body etc....Awesome.

I am motivated to dress better since I lost weight. I literally have no gone out, even for milk, in the last few months without looking smart. I never "take a day off" shaving anymore. I meticulously get my hair cut every four weeks -I'd sometimes let it go ten weeks in the past. I never run out of hair gel. I make a point…

Great idea.
