You don't seem to relate and that's fine but don't act shocked that I can't relate to you. I'm not talking about loosening he reigns for an occasional meal. I'm talking about binges that are not a meal, not even when I'm hungry. I'm talking about mindlessly eating somethjg That's not even that yummy but doing it any way.…

I guess those of us implying that weren't living at home in our 20s.

You are 20 years old and living at home, I assume for free?? The least you can do is offer to take dinner preparation off mom's plate. Step up and start making dinner for the family. Or move out.

And you surprised me too so I guess we're even :) Maybe that works for you. I'm 4'11 tall and have had a lot of plateaus towards the last 10 lbs. the issue for me is overeating a few times a week keeps me in maintenance. I don't want to be in maintenance. I want to lose those last 10ish lbs. so no, I can't overeat on a…

I prelog every day and the three things I care about are: Total calories (duh) Protein Fiber I find when I concentrate on these 3, it Almost always ensures I automatically am eating the right amount of fat and carbs. By the day, I don't give a **** about percentages. I only care that I'm hitting my setting's minimum goal…

Just a word of caution about early morning workouts: if you have to get up so early that you can't get a decent night sleep, it may not be something you can continue in the long run. But if you can manage going to bed early enough to Get enough sleep, it could be an option.

All of the above are great ideas. To add: when I worked in an office I made a point to take lots of short walk breaks. A loop around the building only took a few minutes but it added up over the day. I also walked on my lunch break. On cold Days I walked up and down the stairs. Some people don't like the idea of leaving…

I'm in a similar position though my dieting has always been moderate and sensible (250 calorie daily deficit) so I don't know why I still struggle with binging. I'm not physically deprived, but mentally I don't want to give up the act of binging. I was successful for a long time and lost over 30 lbs (which I haven't…

I often eat meat just at dinner time. Or small amounts of meat at lunch and dinner. Like 150 calories worth of meat at a time. I surround the meat with veggies. I'm really into sweet potatoes right now (lots of fiber). I cut it up and it takes up almost The whole Plate and then I add in a small amount of meat. Do you count…

Calories, protein, and fiber are the big three I pay attention to (everything else works itself out). Feel free to look at my diary. I made a big batch of split pea soup and it has a crazy amount of fiber. So much that I've actually had to mindfully eat less fiber at other meals. I eat veggies and fruit of course.…

Talk to your doctor. One issue I've noticed with surgery is that eventually you can stretch your stomach back out and go back to overeating and gaining the weight back. If you can learn how to permanently eat smaller portions you'd have a better shot at keeping the weight off.

Thank you!

Thank you for elaborating :) I too try to focus on 3 meals but luckily they are timed a lot closer together (9am, 12:30 or 1, dinner and dessert together around 4:30). I used to pre log snacks but now most days is rather save the calories for my meals and really enjoy it.
-
Do you mind elaborating on your no snacking transition? I'd love to hear more about that.

I'm 4'11. Started at 155 and now hover between 121-124. But I still carry too much weight in my stomach and am struggling with losing more weight. It came Off steadily, exactly .5 lb a week, for many months until I got this current range. Simply using mfp and staying in calorie deficit worked. Now I think it's getting…

Great points. I do think I feel very responsible for everything and probably need to find some safe outlet to go a little crazy outside of eating. I'm not sure what that looks like. Yes, also it makes sense that it's hard because I don't see the immediate consequence of overeating.
-
Probably. Not sure what exactly to let go.

Thank you for the responses. Love the cat meme.

Don't be surprised if the scale shows a larger increase --a lot of water retention after sodium rich food and alcohol. After a few days I would expect the scale to come Back down. I really doubt you'll eat enough to gain more than a pound.

I'm 4'11. 3-3.2 mph is a nice easy pace for me. 3.5-4 is faster on the treadmill. Keep in mind that walking outside is very different. You probably slow down naturally at each incline, crossing the street, checking your app, etc. next time I suggest you monitor your speed over just a few minutes of concentrated effort to…

I didn't pay attention to other flavors but I would guess yes.

Have you told your boss you don't have enough work to do? I assume that would help with the boredom. Not that extra work is necessarily the cure. When I worked in an office I was tempted all afternoon. I ate lunch around 12:00 and looked forward to my 2:00 coffee. Then I ate my snack (from home) at 3:00. Not a minute…

Look up different options in the mfp database to see how many calories they will cost you. Then you can decide which, if any, will be worth it. You can save some calories for that snack, or you may decide to eat all your calories during the day before the movie and don't eat at the movies (my preference). It's really a…

Stomach. I am always worried someone will think I'm pregnant. I go out of my way to wear clothes that always flatter and flatten that area.

I'm confused about the ounce question and what it has anything to do with anything. But yes, your math is correct: you have to have a deficit of 3500 Calories to lose one pound. One pound equals 16 ounces. So I supposed yes you need a deficit of about 218 calories (3500/16) to lose one ounce. But why do you care about one…

I'm 4'11 and 122 lbs. mfp gives me 1200 for 1/2 lb weekly loss. I eat more due to exercise. Edit: when I was 135ish lbs I think mfp gave me 1270 for 1/2 lb loss (again, before exercise)
-
Short answer is no Long answer is maybe. I've always been a huge water drinker and never did it help me lose weight. Now, if you are dehydrated, you may mistake thirst for hunger so in that case simply drinking water may make you realize you're not actually hungry. Also dehydration makes you retain water, causing bloat.…

Agreed. Mfp has my goal at 60 grams which is high Considering my height and weight. Plus it works with percentages so if I eat more than my mfp-calorie-goal (Which I do after exercise), it assigns me a higher protein goal. Which seems silly. Just because I chose to eat another 200 calories doesn't mean I suddenly need more…

If you are set to lose 1 lb a week then you just add 500 calories to get to maintenance. 1/2 lb = 250 calories.

I hate non-running days (rest days) because it makes it much harder to stay in deficit. I love eating that little extra amount on run days! But two days a week I don't have daycare for my toddler and she rarely naps so I just make those my rest days. But I still take about 10,000 steps on those days any way. Unless I'm…
