Not sure who hit the "woo" button for this but since I'm trying to, you know. Not die? Sugar is a problem.

He better be a friggin oil painting if he's making comments about how you look. Dump him. He's negative, he's toxic, he's controlling and abusive. He's tearing you down when he should be building you up.

Joining the choir to say you look amazing. But I get the frustration. I'm almost 50 and with hormonal changes, even if I watch my sodium intake, I can easily gain 2 or 3 lb. overnight, even when I've had a "perfect" day. And even though I know logically it's not a punishment, it's nothing I've done wrong, it's really hard…

I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm not a great cook to begin with but I love being able to have almost anything I want and still keep it keto. This morning I had mug cake banana bread with grass fed butter, and I've also made a peanut butter mug cake with whipped cream. Not only were they delicious and satisfying, but they had…

Who says it's a "cult" diet? Pretty dismissive of a way of eating that many people find satisfying and sustainable, especially type 2 diabetics like me.

I agree that some people seem to take it way too far and obsess way too much over ketosis and macros. I do the best I can, and I don't consider it "dirty" or "lazy" keto. I just refuse to spend money on test strips or MCT oil ($$$) or any of the other potions and powders. I just keep it very simple and it works for me.

I'm not sure if this has come to my area yet but I'm going to look for it!

Don't you love it when they give you the "cane sugar", like that's somehow better?
-
I'm so getting some this weekend. I'm excited. I haven't had ice cream in four months!

It is if you're diabetic.

Thanks!

Flip-flops. I hate flip-flops. Or sandals. Just don't. Being a slob. You don't have to be a neat freak but at least wash your hair and put on a clean shirt. Rudeness (to me or anyone else) and disregard/disrespect are the big ones. Instant trapdoor.

It's no dumber than Skinny Cow. Which is full of sugar, by the way.

Depends on how much you like eggs, but a ham and cheese omelette ought to keep you nicely full. Good fats and protein is the way you want to go, whatever you choose.

My situation is a little different. I live upstairs in a home owned by my mother and stepfather. She's elderly and disabled and I'm here (and can't just pick up and leave) because she needs me. Basically I'm stuck here for the time being. And since we share a kitchen, I'm constantly confronted with mounds of junk and…

I'm still new myself (not quite 4 months in) and I'm also not much of a cook so I try to keep it super simple. I don't pour anything on my eggs. I just have two Eggland's Best scrambled with grass-fed butter. Lunch is usually something like proscuitto and mozzarella. Nuts are a GREAT source of good fats and potassium. I…

I freaking LOVE batter dipped fish. But my real weakness is the fries and the hush puppies that come with it. Maybe have your seafood and get healthy sides? Most places have them. Another commenter suggested just eating half at a time and that's also a good idea. You don't have to give up everything you love, or punish…

I've been a hardcore food addict since I was eleven years old (now 49). Even being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes didn't stop me. I didn't think anything could. I was totally out of control. My first thought every morning was "What am I going to eat?" If I was leaving the house to go somewhere, anywhere, it was "Where am I…

I don't think you're being a b---- at all. I wonder what's going on here....you made it clear you didn't want junk in the house, and he brings home a huge cheesecake "for the both of you" even though he doesn't eat cheesecake? It sounds like he's trying to sabotage you. Why is another question. It could be unconscious…

I've been doing keto for three and a half months and I've lost 40 lb. My blood sugar is normal for the first time in years. I feel great. Once you cut out the sweets, the breads, the junk and the empty carbs, you won't want them anymore. It feels good to be free of hunger, cravings and deprivation. Check out Dr. Ken G.…

Keto seems to be a very individual thing. It works for some, not for others. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with just a few pounds to lose. I'm a lifelong food addict and a type 2 diabetic, about 120 lb overweight when I started. I've tried every diet out there and failed at every one. Keto is the only thing that's…

I'm not much of a cook so super, super simple. Roasted chicken thighs with a little Tsang's Classic Stir Fry sauce brushed on top. Steamed broccoli with homemade cheese sauce (heavy cream and fresh shredded sharp cheddar). Sorry no picture!

Age and height may figure into it. Overall though, I don't think it's healthy or setting yourself up for long term success to be hungry all the time. Watching what you eat doesn't have to mean feeling miserable and deprived. Maybe it's not an increase or decrease in the calories you're eating so much as the type of…

Instead of raising the cost of supposedly unhealthy items (because you know soda is only the first slip on a long, long slippery slope), how about we make healthy foods and drinks more affordable?

I'm a type 2 diabetic. I admit I'm not that familiar with lupus and its effect on your dietary needs, but hopefully I can share something that's useful. Protein will keep your blood sugar level, and you want those good fats for your heart. I love pistachios (of course you can't go crazy with them because those calories add…

Fall down seven times, stand up eight. You got this.

I lost about 40 pounds that way, having one cheat day a week. Well, it began as one cheat meal + one dessert and sort of evolved into "how much can I possibly eat between 10am and midnight." So it didn't work for me. But since you don't have very much weight to lose, I think it's definitely possible that you could reach…

I'm not trying to prove anything. I simply shared very personal, private information about my experience with keto with someone I don't even know (since they asked), and with anyone who happens to read it, in the hopes that it may help. Keto may or may not be right for the OP. The only thing I'm advocating for anyone to do…

It really depends on you and what works for you. I started at 5'0 and 237.5 pounds. I'm now 199.5 pounds. I generally aim for 1200 calories a day. Sometimes I'm a little over or under. I try to keep my carbs at about 20. That works for me. Judging by your height and weight and goals you can probably lose weight comfortably…

My original claim was that there wasn't one person profiting off of keto. No Jillian Michaels, no Oprah, no Dr. Atkins. No one "invented" keto. There's always someone willing to take your money if you're gullible enough to give it.
