  • Hi. I'm also jumping back in after a 2 year break. This morning I assembled a stationary, recumbant bike (no small feat); and, I am starting my keto plan Monday morning. I really backtracked in a big way. I miss my dance nights so much, so for the rest of the summer I'm reclaiming my health and my body. That is the plan.…
  • Hi pals. Remember me? Just dipping my toe back in keto waters after a fairly prolonged, not so great patch of life. Not even sure I'm nudge ready yet; but, I'm missing my former lifestyle in a major way. Especially, I miss having energy and that my body had so many less aches and pains. Hoping to retrieve all my old keto…
  • The first few months on keto I found myself crying daily for no real reason...I had marvelous energy, pounds were melting off...but I was sobbing on and off all day long. I stuck with it and eventually that resolved; and in time my weight loss slowed down as I got close to goal weight. Much later I learned that hormones…
  • Thinking about food alot is also an issue for me. Sometimes it's hunger related, sometimes not. I've very worked on this issue for 40 years. What I find helps is distraction: Read a book, do my nails, watch a show, clean something. dance, call a friend, facebook, etc, etc, etc. What this does is temporarily engage the mind…
  • h4power.... I like that graphic! Is there an app for that?

  • Can't emphasize enough how important salt is to me in this way of life. I have a cup of bouillion first thing in the AM - even before coffee. In a heat wave I'll add another cup in the afternoon!! I've never had keto flu as I started off keto with that info coming from my doc. I also carry some Bouillion cubes in my purse…
  • I find it easier to keep it to myself or just say Atkins. I've actually had friends yell at me over it. Not worth sharing sometimes. I've lost a lot of weight and reversed 3 health conditions. It ain't nobody's business if I do... Best of luck to you.
  • For me when I was successful at losing, I kept my carbs between 15 and 20, and also has to keep my cals pretty darn low. I am seriously insulin resistant though, and also am older with a lifetime of yo-yo dieting under my belt. I say juggle things around if you want to hurry it up or just be patient, watchful, and trust in…
  • When I'm really doing keto to the max...my energy levels are amazing!! With even a "normal" amount of carbs in me I'm in a daze and need to nap at least once during a day, and go to bed early. On keto, I'm flying along all day, and can go out and dance all night!! Nothing beats keto for me. Nada!!
  • I use diet sodas and Equal or Stevia everyday on keto, and have lost 110 pounds. My best advice: Read alot about keto, feel free to ask questions...but go with what works for you...not someone else. There are many valid ways to do this and be successful.
  • I'm with you bozmo. It's really about execution for me, too. Too much dilly dallying, too many excuses. Just need to focus and GO!! Soooo many NSVs when I do it right.

  • As I'm wrassling with trying to stabilize my lifestyle footing, I'm noticing that my first step, go-to effort isn't always the food plan piece anymore. These days it might be that I need to tend to my body care, my social needs, or a creative outlet. That said, it's not working out the way I want it to with my…
  • Bouillion is tasty and solves the problem of how to get in my salt for the day. I'm not sure that I would regularly drink plain salt added in water. I have gotten to the point where I have a nice hot cup first thing in the morning...even before coffee!!
  • If I don't have at least one or two cups of Bouillion per day...I get vertigo also, and lethargic, headaches, etc. The vertigo feels really creepy...I also take potassium and magnesium supplements and a multi vitamin every day. Since doing these things I've had no further issues in that area. Have you read about keto and…
  • Simeroda: Everyday I do an AM bouillion cube, in hot weather a PM one as well, And I also supplement potassium, magnesium and a multi vitamin. I need these things DAILY, or else I experience all the symptoms you mentioned. There should be info about electrolytes and sources in the keto info section, or just Google it. It's…
  • Char 1: I need rewards regularly...but I go with non food rewards..every three pounds!! That seems to be the sweet spot for motivating me and keeping me going and doesn't mess with my food plan as much. I'm on a tight budget, so often the rewards are more token than impressive..and geared towards self care... New make up,…
  • I feel like I strive to be keto everyday.. but some days wind up being more low carb. For weight loss and now some minor health issues I prefer to do keto, but since hitting maintenance I find I go back and forth. Often, not on purpose; but, still a far, far cry from going back to the more standard American eating style.…
  • Welcome, pal. This is my home base group. I check in everyday and it does me good.
  • Got through another weekend. So so. Glad for the upcoming week. Looking forward to focusing on the food plan and routines. Getting ready to bust a social move and actually get out back out in the world sometime in the next couple weeks. Even gave my mom permission to nag if I procrastinate more than two weeks. Isolating…
  • A few off days can break my momentum for months(!!!) if I'm in a "lose weight" phase. Not worth it for me. In a maintenance phase, it still messes with my head, but I try to learn about changing up my habits during those times for making better choices in the future. So I just try to be observant about what I'd planned to…
  • I had to cut way back on CO, because I found it added too many cals for me to lose weight. But I'll still use it sparingly and like it. I also use it as moisturizer for the body and for dry hair treatments. I avoid all flours like the plague. So, I don't even know what that's like.
  • I'm thinking that not beinlg in the groove is valid enough for me to hear about, and happens to us all at times. I don't mind hearing the struggles as well as the successes. They are incredibly real...especially as the initial rush of success wears off and we're left with our everyday selves. It's learning how to cope…
  • Is anyone like me who is disappointed when you check in here and no new messages?....I think I stop by here everyday, and don't always contribute, but I just want to say I really like seeing others comments and messages. Keto support and real life knowledge is very helpful to me. Sometimes I'll write something, but often…
  • My mom likes those laughing cow cheese triangles. Also, pork rinds. Other than that it seems like you've got it pretty well covered!
  • Just want to say, having miraculously given up cream in coffee, that I now can actually eat more of the foods I love. Like avocados, strawberries, some veggies. I'm adjusting to rationing out the carbs...but find it's way easier to do with berries than my usual sugar trigger foods... and I'm so happy to be able to have a…
  • When I tried to "star" this thread and some others today, a message flashed up and said I need "vanilla discussions" and "to view permissions." Would not let me star it. Never happened before.... Anyone know what that's about??? Admin???
  • I have actually gone to bed very early to break a night snacking pattern. I never eat in bed. And I can still read or scroll if I wake up or have trouble sleeping. In the short term or after events that I know trigger me sometimes this is my best and only effective option. I think it helps some. Plus, beauty sleep...
  • I know I'm low carb when my poundage starts melting off, my skin clears, my energy soars, and my mood is lighter. I love LCHF. Even better is when I'm ketofied!!! This is the life for me.
  • Hope you're on track. It's always the first two weeks that I struggle hardest with all the cravings. After that it gets easier. If your cupboards aren't cleaned out by now, I recommend a walk out to the trash bin. I've done it before... to get started off right, and also I'd a pesky, carby intruder makes its way into my…
