  • I was assuming that amusedmonkey was stating the calories per 100g, not that pita is typically 100g where they live. That said, at 275 calories per 100g, that's fewer calories per gram than the pita you mentioned. Amusingly I was just thinking to myself that I haven't made pita in a while.
  • Sweep rowing - 12km. Cold and drizzly but very very flat water. Making a note to bring pogies tomorrow
  • Simple pasta tonight. A blistered cherry tomato sauce with caramelized onions, garlic, and well - cherry tomatoes (which were very clearly grown in a greenhouse). That topped casarecce (my new favorite pasta shape for sauces like this) along with some freshly grated parmigiano-reggiano (aka one of two cheeses that I like).
  • This time next year I'll be living in Ottawa. Obviously I won't be rowing outside in January, but it'll be quite a change temperature wise. I do intend on cycling outside year round though (and I have biked in the snow before).
  • Rest day number 3. I was borderline sick on Wednesday and I decided to play it safe because you know what sucks? Getting sick, exercising through it, and then getting worse because of it. Rowing tomorrow (though I suspect I'll end up coxing given how long it's been since I last coxed).
  • I'm gonna go with a no on that. A good bagel is very different from a good doughnut. Yes they both have flour, water, and some doughnuts also have yeast, but that's because they're both bread products. That's more or less where the similarities end. You could say the same about cake or the aforementioned fry bread.
  • Morning: 45 min of yoga - I'm very glad that I decided to take yoga this term. Evening: 70 min of Zwift
  • 61 an sunny (or rainy for that matter) means shorts (trou) and a short sleeved tech shirt if I'm rowing outside. If it's raining I might think about wearing my Gore rain shell but that's a big might and would only happen if it was especially rainy. I would be grumbling about being overdressed if I were to wear a long…
  • Pozole with chicken (thigh). Cooked the hominy (from dry - you can get it from Rancho Gordo, among other places/brands, in the US) yesterday and made the rest of it today. Apparently the stars have aligned in such a way that one of the soups of the day at one of the bakeries/cafes that I go to was also pozole (though with…
  • 70 min Zwift tempo workout (ignore the week/day designation). A mix of intervals that were sub power threshold and at my threshold, the worst being a 14 min one that was about halfway through. My thoughts were, "well this [the 14 minutes of awful] is longer than my upcoming 1k test", "I guess I'm not doing that 1k…
  • I prefer my bagels toasted but it's an issue of liking the texture of a toasted bagel, not because of it not being fresh. I'm lucky in that I've typically always had a very easy time of getting fresh bagels and bialys which are far superior to bagels. Fresh as in, "How much time do you have? The bialys are still in the…
  • What is Rotel?
  • This is very dependent on how much I've already eaten and what I've already eaten. Assuming it's the end of the day and/or I want something sweet then the doughnut wins, depending on what type of doughnut of course. Outside of that, bagel with a few slices of pastrami and red onions (preferably pickled). Normally I would…
  • Today was 12km rowing sweep. It had been way too long since I'd rowed sweep, as was evidenced by some rather amusing (read, rather frustrating) issues that cropped up. It'll get better over the next few weeks.
  • For the past two weeks I've been doing their interactive FTP builder plan (or whatever it's called). I have done a few races and group rides but mostly I either do workouts or do unrestricted riding. I really don't enjoy races but I like the group rides and group workouts.
  • As has been said, everyone and every surgery is going to be different and you need to be asking a physical therapist. If you don't have physical therapy already set up/in the works, you need to ask your surgeon about it. After all of my knee surgeries (four in total) I was non-weight bearing for 6 weeks and had zero energy…
  • I'd much rather broccoli than Reeses of any type ;) That said, I also love broccoli.
  • 70 min on Zwift. Not especially exciting, but I got the workout done.
  • 63 people sounds beyond miserable. I would go with your option of cancelling and doing it on your own. I can appreciate wanting to try new things and meet new people, but there are a lot of different ways to do that.
  • 30 min of yoga 50ish min of bike erg - mostly recovery with some "how low can we get our split" sprints at erg practice. Today was 1k day (one of three organized times for that this season) and given that I was so tired this afternoon that I had to take a 3 hour nap, I decided that I wasn't going to do a 1k (especially…
  • What sort of doctors and what sorts of tests? For now, I suspect your best option for now (even nothing is wrong, which hopefully is the case) would be to slowly work up to higher intensity exercise. That may mean doing a lot of walking, walking in the pool, slow cycling (potentially on an exercise bike/indoor recumbent…

  • Zwift's "intermittent" workout while watching Big Fat Quiz of the Decade (well part of it). 61 minutes, the first three intervals were tempo and the last three were three sets of six 30sec sprint/30sec rest intervals. I remember once upon a time someone said that if you can watch TV/a movie while working out, you're not…
  • I didn't say you that you said they weren't exercise. That said, the original post talks about how someone said that neither yoga nor pilates were forms exercise. Again looking at the OP's post and also taking into account your thought, which I share, about meeting people where they're at, the first post says: I think we…
  • I would not be shocked if pilates were to rank above calisthenics with regards to strength, especially abdominal strength. Regardless of your list, both yoga and pilates are forms of exercise.
  • 67 min on zwift with a ton of power meter drop outs. I was not impressed. The thinnest of silver linings is that it was meant to be a very easy ride.
  • There are plenty of vegan recipes on the internet, I'll be having leftover aloo mutter this evening. As far as hot chocolate, I would heat up plant based milk of your choosing, vigorously wisk in semi-sweet chocolate chips (read the label to make sure they're vegan), and pour it in a mug.

  • For the I don't even know how many'th time, body positivity is about so much more than weight. I grew up as a black child in predominantly white schools and was made fun of because of various facial and other bodily features, none of which were about weight (I was thin until my early 20s and muscular as a teenager). My…
  • An hour and 7 minutes on zwift doing one of their tempo workouts. There was also some eye rolling from me as both of the ads that ran on my Chromecast while watching Youtube as entertainment were for, you guessed it, Zwift.
  • Here's the goulash recipe - https://www.lilvienna.com/authentic-austrian-beef-goulash/ As for kale, I'd much rather have collard greens.
  • It's a short term diet that's sometimes used to diagnose food intolerances and/or figure out what food(s) may be causing someone's medical condition to flare up. It involves cutting out a lot of foods out of your diet for a period of time and then gradually adding them back one at a time, all while keeping a journal of how…
