  • I make a large batch of oats on the weekend and then freeze them for during the week when I don't have time. I use a mix of steel cut and old fashioned. I sub out some of the water for milk and stir them a lot while they are cooking and they come out really creamy.

  • I like to put banana in there while it is cooking and stir like heck to break it up. Add walnuts & a bit of cinnamon to make banana bread oatmeal Add coconuts & chocolate chips for an almond joy like experience I make a chunky apple sauce by peeling & slicing apple and cooking it. Then, I add the oats and cook them Make…
  • thanksgiving is one day, Christmas eve is two, Christmas day is three, new years eve is four. That is four days, not a season. I eat whatever I want on the holiday. The rest of the time I eat my usual. exercise as usual. sleep as usual. It helps that I'm mostly working, as usual.
  • the hardest problem w/ paleo for me is sticking to it. So, I would advise trying to figure out what is going to satisfy you long term. Personally, I get sick and tired of eggs for breakfast. And, it is hard if you're not cooking at home a lot
  • no replacing real pasta for me. But I do stretch it using my spriralizer (zoodles) or w/ raw shredded cabbage. I like the crunch I have kids so there is some pasta around my house
  • I usually don't because I'm at work. If I fill up on lean protein & veggies for breakfast/lunch then I really don't need to
  • things I eat almost every day: greek yogurt fresh raw spinach (big box of organic) 1+ bags of coleslaw mix 2-3 lemons veggies -anything that looks good squash herbs like dill/cilantro onions eggs cheddar cheese chicken breast, fish, shrimp butter/olive oil skim milk fruit frozen blueberries salt bombs for salads: olives,…
  • we don't mess with thanksgiving. Every dish is a tradition. There can be no messing with it. My way of dealing with it is to only do it one day. Not the whole 4 day weekend. I will eat tons of leftover turkey but I'm done with stuffing and gravy after the big dinner!
  • I don't think that would do it for me but that is the trick, we all have to figure that out for ourselves!
  • I load on up veggies. Wash & prep them so I can throw them in my lunch all week hard boil some eggs buy a rotisserie chicken & pull the meat off, freeze in serving size baggies to add to salads sometimes I'll make a soup and freeze in individual sizes so I can pull one out. I keep Frank's hot sauce & salad dressing at…
  • I look for lean protein and veggies for lunches. Sometimes I pack leftovers. Sometimes I'll make a soup and freeze in serving sizes. And, sometimes I'll take a big salad.
  • I have never been that excited but my friend sliced them really thin on a mandolin and then laid them out in a 9x13" pan like a deck of splayed cards. Sprinkled w/ olive oil, salt & fresh rosemary and roasted until soft. They were delish, I had two servings and I've made them myself. I even like the leftovers
  • how about making chili on the weekend and freezing some? You can more or less meat in depending on your budget.
  • My daughter has chickens so during some times of they year we have lots of eggs and I will make pop overs either for dinner with soup or for breakfast. You can even make twice bake popovers for breakfast w/ leftover popovers filled w/ scrambled eggs & cheese, heated up till the cheese melts. They are a huge hit
  • I like the Isernos brand here in the PNW. But I also buy Penzey's sausage spice on-line and use that to make my own Italian & breakfast sausage patties and it is really good.
  • I like it as a salad green but you have to dress it 30+ minutes before you eat so it can soften up. Some people massage it but no need as the acid in the dressing will do it for you. Love it with some avocado!
  • olive oil, salt & cumin. Roast it at high temp so it carmalizes. I like it leftover in my lunch salad w/ a vinegrette dressing w/ a smidge of curry. Sounds weird but soooo good.
  • I have trails near my house that everyone in the family uses for walking or running. And a jump rope. I have a kettlebell and some dumbells Yoga mat and bands. Foam roller All get a lot of use
  • Walk! Get a stroller and take the kids with you! Go to parks where you can all play together. can you workout at lunchtime? Walk at lunch? take the stairs?
  • look for lean protein & veggies in the cafeteria. Have some fruit, not sweets. Greek yogurt & hard boiled eggs. Whole grains can be hard to find but stay away from the super refined stuff as much as you can. You are probably walking a lot. Take the stairs every chance you get. Learn where the stairways are and use them

  • I keep a fork, a big salad bowl & some dressing in my office. I take bags of greens & veggies. On the weekends I either roast a chicken or get a rotisserie chicken at the store and take all the meat off the bone and weigh and freeze 4 oz portions. Sometimes I will open a can of chickpeas or beans and portion out in baggies…
  • I am doing lower carb breakfast & lunches now and eating more normally w/ my family (reasonable portions and trying to pile on the veggies). This works great, isn't terribly extreme and keeps me satisfied so I actually am taking less in.
  • Till June would be along time to forego healthy living so it's worth it to figure out how to make this work better for you. Tons of good advice here. I too love shopping and prepping meals on the weekends. I workout in the mornings. I only have to get up 30 minutes earlier and I think it pays off in that I sleep better.…
  • Maybe once during the season. Maybe not. Actually. I'll skip, thanks
  • FIrst of all, I make them cook one night a week. That way they know how it feels to invest your time and have other people complain. my kids cooked starting from age 7 or so with help. We have eaten a lot of bean burritos over the years. Second, I will ask them to make a list of 20 dinners that they will eat without…
  • I bring to boil 1 c oats & 2 cups of water at night while I'm doing the dinner dishes. Then, turn off the heat, put on lid and leave overnight (if it bothers you than go ahead and refrig). In the morning, I heat it up with a cup of milk added. IT makes it creamy and yummy. Add ins: a really ripe banana and then stir the…
  • I figure out how much I'm drinking (I'm into black coffee, no sugar). Then, I cut one cup per week. I load up on herbal teas so there is something around that is hot. When I get down to the last cup, I quit it but I might carry around a bottle of diet, flat coke for a day or two. I take a swig if I have a headache or feel…
  • I'm gong to eat everything that I love on Thanksgiving including stuffing and gravy. Lucky for me, I'm not that into pie so will have a bit (or pass!). I won't log what I eat on a holiday but I do try to not just eat for the sake of eating. When I wake up on Friday, It's back to normal for me. Entering EVERYTHING into MFP.…
  • my all time most favorite and have it all the time....grill them w/ a bit of salt & pepper. Serve with the bottle of Franks Hot Sauce. I have a thing for chicken wings and this does the job for me.
  • The only thing I'm really giving up is drive thru breakfast biscuit. Everything else I let my self have if it fits that day. Just because it usually doesn't (ha ha) doesn't mean I won't ever have it again
