• Yum, look delish. French macarons?
• I love how you've found a way to counteract your own triggers. Mine is similar: when I get home from a 12 hr shift I'm tired, cranky and snackish. And I have a hard time saying no! I suspect the drop in cortisol doesn't help. I'm not going for a walk at 830pm, does anyone have a suggestion for me?
• I just did a workout and my favourite part was the pushups! (because the other exercises have room for improvement lol)
• Don't be afraid. Be fierce! We are our own worst enemy, and being afraid of your own self will keep you bogged down. Journal your thoughts and tell that "you're just going to fail" voice to shut up! You ABSOLUTELY are capable of making the changes you need to!
• Yup, I'm here for it too. 6 yrs ago I lost 70lb. Then insomnia hit and I fell out of routine as I struggled to heal. Then covid etc hit and I lived that out as a nurse. Then my niece died. I'm a different person than I was 6 yrs ago and I wouldn't change the personal growth for anything. But I gained back 30lb and I need…
• I second the "fresh eggs peel horribly" bit. I buy a dozen from the grocery store simply for boiling, I use fresh for everything else. I boil my plain water, add in a couple eggs and let it go for my desired doneness. Take it out and drop it in a bowl of cold water hard enough that the egg cracks = easy to peel. I tried…
• I went for a run for the second time so far this season. After 5 months off (winter), I thought it'd take a couple weeks to be able to run my 5.3km again. Nope! Did it today and it felt fantastic!! A year ago, I couldn't run 100m, never mind 5km. Also felt a lot smoother and stronger somehow. My core work over the last…
• That my dry-elbow problem would go away!! Before, they'd be super dry, cracked and scratchy. But now: just normal, nobbly but moisturized elbows! Maybe because I drink more water...?
• I agree about the Flipbelts! Works very well, I use it when I run. What no one told me was that doing crunches in the bathtub is more difficult haha!
• 1) I can feel the base of my belly button lol!! It's not a bottomless pit and I can feel my HR pulsing. Makes me feel closer to my mom haha! 2) Someone asked me how much weight I had lost now. I answered somewhat awkwardly that it was 70lbs. They were floored. They thought it was more like 20lbs. Maybe my height hid it…
• That if I don't work out for a week I'm exhausted and need naps. But if I exercise and pick up my routine again, I'm alert even when I don't get enough sleep at night! Sitting in one position for more than 30 mins is agonizing on my rear end. Church has gotten so uncomfortable, and we have comfy seats! I don't regularly…
• Thanks everybody for the insight and tips!! It's probably a combination of the workout and water, add in a little extra protein and my body is less than impressed! I'll have to experiment a little bit and use Colace until I figure it out
• I've also gotten the "you look taller" comments but dismissed them as an illusion because of my weight loss. Now that I think about it, my height gain was never on my radar until I started strength training. Maybe I have a stronger core and it's actually working? :)
• I second that one! I would add to that the head has some fat to loose as well since two hats that were snug last year are now comfortably loose! :p
Yes, this!! I had NO IDEA that would happen. My Jays hat is now too big... had no idea I had fat on my skull...
• I echo this! I'm asking if I can run the bloodwork to the tube instead of calling a porter :) I work on my feet but still want ro stretch my legs and get my heart pumping!
• I have eyelids!!! I always thought I had hooded eyes and that wearing eyeshadow was a waste of time. Nope, just fat rolls above my eyes (who knew right?)! I have a whole new realm of makeup to delve into :)
• I just love reading this thread: the physical milestones but esp the mental ones!! Kudos to everybody!! I've got a several. I ran for 15 mins straight!! I couldnt even do 1 min 6 months ago. I played sports in my spandex pants in front of people for the first time and DIDN'T feel self conscious! (actually, I kinda rocked…
• I agree on it being totally mental. For me, I just ran out of excuses and was honest enough with myself to admit it. I knew I didn't want to be overweight my whole life so I figured I may as well start now. I had kept track of some tools that I had learned of over the years (MFP being one of them) so I dusted them off and…
• I've never had it this bad before but I guess I haven't been running as hard before. Figured it was something simple. Thanks!!
• One thing I've found is my leisure activities changed. Now I want to do something fun and active where before I was looking for things like going to eat and watching movies
Definitely this!! I can't sit still as long and my idea of relaxing and enjoying a day off is going for a walk, swimming, cooking in the…
• I wore shorts for the first time in 8 yrs today!!! Not skorts, but legit denim shorts. And I didn't even think they look bad :) :) Huge NSV for me. A new goal is to wear a bathing suit with no skirt! Happy Victoria Day!
• Totally this! As I was losing weight and getting healthier it became a total life change and I wanted to change other areas of my life! I wanted to get healthier mentally and spiritually, too. Intellectually. And I got the courage to finally book an appointment with the orthodontist!
• My favourite: "It's not about how bad you want it. It's about how hard you're willing to WORK for it."
• *sigh*. MFP is skipping part of my reply and won't let me edit. Also, despite losing 52lb to get to 168lb I can honestly say that I don't feel colder. Says the Canadian girl waiting for spring, lol
• LOL. I was very cold on Sunday, could not get warm. I attributed my overreaction to the cold damp temps to this very reason. I figured everybody else has it happen, so it will probably happen to me too! Nope, just a high fever.
• - how much fun it is to no longer worry about dresses or tops falling off the hangers because the neckline are so wide. Also, i don't need to fold my skirts when clipping them on the hanger! - how it is STILL annoying when sales clerks kind of look at you dubiously and ask "the medium?" The other day I asked the clerk of…
• This is great, everybody, thank you so much!!
• How is it for stability? Does it sway side to side at all? I haven't seen one, only on the web, and wondered about that. My sister had an elliptical that didn't take up much space but it was so unstable. Each pedal around made you feel like it was going tip over.
Absolute no instability! It doesn't move at all,…
• @Jayz39 Does it take a bit of maintenance does it? What programs or how often do you use it?
I use it any day I'm not working a shift, so approx 3-4 days a week, though that can vary a lot. I've had mine for a year and I've had to go inside and tighten and add lubricant twice and need to do it again. So not a lot…
