I fluctuate between 144 and 149 on purpose, due to muscle gains and fat loss (I keep my gain window small, because I'm terrified of getting fat again). Exercise gives me the ability to take better control of my body and overall fitness, but for simple weight loss, it can be done completely with diet. You'll have to cut…

Slim fast isn't a protein shake - it's all sugar. Same with muscle milk...just garbage. I use whey isolate protein powder because it has the fat and lactose removed so my stomach handles it better. I mix it with a superfood greens blend so I get my vitamins. It's not really a hunger satisfier though... it might be, if I…

It's never accurate - even on packaging. The FDA allows a 20% margin of error...TWENTY PERCENT!!!!

Wonderful!! You've lost an entire 5th grade kid! ;-) (or, two medium sized dogs...lol)

I think its safe because they probably aren't exercising - sedentary fat doesn't burn calories. Yes they would burn more calories if they were moving, because they are heavier, but they probably aren't. Cutting to 1500 or 1200 calories might not do anything for them. They are better off learning to eat lower calorie foods…

Actually the opposite can happen. IF you lose weight primarily with exercise and then stop exercising but keep eating like you were, thats when you gain weight. Former athletes experience this all the time. You can out- eat most any exercise plan..

Wow! I think you lost 20 years somewhere!! You look amazing!

I lost 100 pounds before I started exercising. I firmly believe that weight loss is about calories in / calories out and it's very difficult to exercise on a calorie deficit.

And obviously my response was not directed at you, personally...it was a generalized "you".. because clearly you are awesome ;-) It's a good question, and one that people really do need to think about

Lose 10 pounds. Do it 15 more times. That is all. You can do it

I'm 42, my hair has always been a little "wavy" but it's definitely got a little more kink to it now ;-) It'll change again when it turns grey, I'm sure...

Ok, Maybe not actually punch them...but boy I'd give them an ear full ;-)

When I was overweight, I had people giving me unsolicited advice all the time. They felt comfortable with telling the "fat girl" how to do it. I put up with it back then, because I had low self esteem. I'm waiting for someone to do it now, so I can punch them in the nose. Hasn't happened yet. If you feel the need to give…

Low fat usually means higher sugar or carb. But that's ok. I have three words for you. Dana Linn Bailey. She's low fat, high carb. Do what makes your body function the best. I personally do better on higher protein, higher fat, no sugar or starch.

It's sort of like blaming the liquor stores for all the alcoholics. It's just supply meeting demand...and our demand SUCKS BUTT

Blair Witch and The Ring really messed me up for a while... I couldn't look at circles or trees for a while and heaven forbid a fly land near me! lol

Everything is inaccurate - but everything is a tool. Find one and use it consistently and you'll see your results. I know my home scale fat % is probably off by 5%, but right now I don't care as long as it measures the same way each time. Like if my tape measure was a whole inch off, who cares as long as I use the same one…

Looks like you're in good company. I'm 42, with one daughter. Starting to add people after years on MFP :-)

That you might wind up president of the itty bitty titty committee...

Nice!! Actually I'm 42, adopted (so no clue what I am lol - you could be right or wrong) I'm going to guess 30, Kenyan

Nobody tells you that if you sit longer than 10 minutes, your legs go to sleep and that you won't recognize yourself in the mirror...that reflection just isn't you for a while

This. Definitely this. But I'll tell you, it's quite difficult to exercise on a calorie deficit. I lost weight with diet (100%). Now I'm building muscle on maintenance calories - a slight surplus occasionally - so I don't gain too much fat. You can do lean gains but it's difficult to do while simultaneously losing weight.…

I started over several times. I was 250 pounds for 15 years... quit killing yourself and realize it's going to take a year or more of doing things you can live with. Weight loss is 90% diet (I'd venture to say 100% diet). FITNESS is what you do in the gym. Don't try to burn off a bad diet. Exercising on a calorie deficit…

Squats, leg press - pretty much anything legs. Makes me shake and want to puke. Every time
-
Thanks so much - I'm probably twice your age and lost twice as much weight as you have to lose... so I'm thinking you won't even have a problem. Don't worry, you'll do great!

I've been here for years too and just now starting to add friends. I'd love to be fitness pals :-)

Ok, I can't believe I'm posting this - but I wanted to show you what I'm talking about. You're young, your skin is elastic. The faster you lose weight, the more skin you will see, at least initially. Chances are, whatever you encounter will be temporary. I'm 42, I lost 100 pounds relatively fast. I have "loose" skin on my…

I think it doesn't mean anything. You can admire someone and be attracted to them without wanting to have sex with them... I definitely notice attractive women, and there are even women I enjoy being around a lot...but that doesn't mean anything about my sexual orientation. You have to decide what it means, if anything
