  • It really stinks that the powers that be, emphasize healthy body fat percentage when measuring it accurately requires an expensive procedure.
  • It is probably the tool you are using to measure your body fat percentage? If it is a scale or a hand held device, it is pretty much useless. Calculations from tape measured body parts or calipers are better, and then only if you are consistently measuring correctly. A Dexa scan is the most accurate but is expensive.
  • OP she is 5 foot even. 100 lbs would be in the lower end of her range but still healthy.
  • I sometimes pre log my bed time snack to make sure I have room for it in my calorie allowance. I keep a calorie range in mind for meals. I plan my protein source, for lunch I eat nuts or beans and have a weekly plan for my dinner meat. I work other foods in to reach my micros.
  • Sorry about your blister. I have had my share, and I also love the special cushioned band aids. The anesthetic, antibiotic cream helps too. I am glad you gave us a smile. It is easier to not over eat when I am smiling. Smiling burns calories, laughing too, but especially that run to the bathroom when you combine water…
  • 40 pounds by August would be a great goal. I think, I will set that one. The great thing about losing slow and steady is that you can learn to do it for life instead of how to yo-yo.
  • Congratulations on your loss of pounds and inches. You are on the right track. I was not very knowledgeable my first month, as I learned more, I applied it. I have consistently lost weight since my talk with Doctor in March. He suggested I lose 20% of my body weight to avoid adding yet another medication. I have been…
  • When I exercise, my appetite is easier to control. When I eat more I have more stamina to exercise harder, longer, and lift heavier. This whole weight loss and fitness thing is a real balancing act. I have adjusted my deficit and my pound per week rate has lowered as I have lost weight. My days of creating a 1000 or more…
  • I keep a spread sheet that tracks my new lightest weight since I started my current tracking in March, along my side my daily weight. A lightest weight can stand for a week or more before a new one takes it's place. On average, I have lost 1% of my body weight per week. So when I was over 200 pounds I would lose 2 or more…
  • Every time I have tried this, 4 times in the last 30 years, I end up getting ill after a week or ten days. I have a friend that used to drink the shakes for lunch, four or more days a week, she ended up getting diverticulitis. I am very suspicious of vitamin fortified products with little fiber. You may be able to get away…
  • I have gone without sugar or food for 24 hours many times, so it is possible. I am eating my donuts and my broccoli today, not taking multiple supplements, having a nice BM tomorrow and losing weight this week, that's possible too. Life is full of possibilities, some are more pleasurable than others.
  • Here is a article about the importance of dietary fiber what is even better 147 reference articles that support the claims of the health benefits of fiber. http://www.nationalfibercouncil.org/pdfs/Fiber_Review_Paper.pdf
  • The cure for that is to have they effected part of the colon removed. I would rather eat some fiber, where we find fiber? Plants! Eat some plants already.
  • I think constipation has some pretty uncomfortable harmful effects on the body, ever hear of hemorrhoids, and colon cancer?
  • I have significantly improved my posture by strengthening my hips, shoulders and abdominal muscles. I was given some exercises by my physical therapist to help. I started with resistance bands to do pull downs and rows with the arms. I did clam shells, side steps, and side steps on stairs to strengthen hips. I did modified…
  • That must have been unpleasant. Hope the test results are helpful.
  • No need to wait to incorporate resistance training. I wished I had started it with my cardio. As it was, when I upped my cardio, I had an injury, that derailed my progress. That injury was a result of over using some muscles while I underutilized others. The cure, that could have been a prevention, was resistance training.…
  • One tablespoon or 15 ml has 10 grams of sugar and 15 calories.
  • I logged my fit bit burn calculated calories, and my MFP eat calories into a spread sheet for almost three months into a spread sheet. Fitbit was about 95% accurate in predicting my TDEE. I was actually losing a bit more than predicted. Then I really started to concentrate on strength training and now (2 months later, it…
  • Same here for me. The nurse always weighs me on the way back to the exam room. My son's Doctor, different practice, weighs him every time too.
  • Grapes are fine, red grapes especially. The only reason I can think to avoid grapes, would be if you have type 2 diabetes, as a fruit they do have a larger sugar to fiber ratio than some other fruits. But for those without that issue, grapes are a great food, the red ones have even more antioxidants.
  • If your logging was correct you would be losing weight. I am not accusing you of purposeful deception but take a look at these: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10012907/logging-accuracy-consistency-and-youre-probably-eating-more-than-you-think/p1…
  • And no one said a thing about the fats being the last thing to go. I am pretty sure that if I eat my protein and do my strength training, my body will take my stored fat before breaking down muscle. Otherwise I would be a weak blob of fat by now.
  • I need a little clarification. Are you asking if or how we log exercise? Are you asking if there is a benefit to logging or eating back calories. The answer as to eating back would also depend on what your workout includes. Before syncing my fitbit with MFP I did log cardio, now the fit bit does it for me. I do log…
  • I was being silly, even though velvet harvesting has been around forever, I am unaware of any benefit in ingesting it. The only benefit that I can see in antlers was the exercise one would get looking for them, finding them would be immaterial to any benefit that would come from searching for them.
  • Deer antler velvet harvesting has been around forever. One does not need to kill the deer to harvest it. Deer shed their antlers and grow a new pair every year. I can see how this could be effective. Walking around "shed hunting" will burn calories and could result in decreased weight and or increased fitness. If you find…
  • Unless one is very obese, a stone by Christmas is not a healthy or sustainable goal. December 25th is less than 6 weeks away and would require losing more than two pounds a week. Losing more than two pounds a week would require you to eat almost 1200 calories under your TDEE. So if you are a woman you would need to have a…
  • A stone equals 14 pounds. The Brits use this unit, but we never adopted the term in the states. I am not sure about its usage in the other former colonies.
  • Sounds like Heather has a wonderful mother, no doubt she was a wonderful person. Paxil is most effective on anxiety based depression. Since your depression would appear to be triggered by a loss, there may be medications or other treatments that would have less side effects with bearing to weight gain. In my decades long…
  • I have a several relatives and one close friend who have have various surgeries for weight loss over the past 10 years all of them are still obese. One of my relatives, who had the bypass, almost died from complications. My close friend had the surgery over 2 and 1/2 years ago. I started my weight loss through diet and…
