  • This is happening to me. MFP won’t sync between my phone and my iPad. The recipe I created today on my phone doesn’t show up on my iPad. Plus on my phone MFP is refusing to complete my diary for today.
  • I don’t really understand refeeds and diet breaks. Don’t they just slow down your progress?
  • Nonfat milk.
  • I eat at about 1300 calories. Hard to sustain without at least another 100 calories from exercise, but I manage it most of the time. Breakfast and lunch are about 300-400 calories of high protein/high fiber (often whole grain cereal with Greek yogurt for breakfast and something like brown rice & black beans with some…
  • Yes, if you have access to a gym with a pool, some sort of aquasize or pool exercises are a great way to get moving without putting stress on joints. Walking is also good, but a bit harder if you live somewhere hot (you have to have the discipline to do it early when it’s still cool).
  • Be careful about not eating back at least a portion of exercise calories. MFP is designed that you should be eating them back. If you exercise a lot and never eat any calories back, your deficit could be way too high and you run the risk of burning muscle along with fat, along with the potential for other health concerns.…
  • Then what about recomp, which is supposed to burn fat while building muscle? Confused. I know recomp is way slow and a deficit burns more fat more quickly, but does recomp also help continue burning fat?
  • Cured meats. I had a precancerous colon polyp removed last year and cured meats have been linked to colon cancer, so cured meats are off my diet. Including bacon. 😫

  • I’m on my last 4 pounds. Just doing what I’ve been doing all along, no “tricks” to “keep my body guessing,” or any of that. I eat 1300 calories per day (abt a 250 calorie deficit), as I have been all along (I am sedentary when not working out), lift 3x a week, some cardio 2+ days a week but no marathon sessions or…
  • I eat at 1300-1350 and am only hungry at mealtimes, except between lunch and dinner when I sometimes need a small snack. Perhaps it is WHAT you are eating? Not enough actual nutrients? Everything I eat contains protein, fiber, “good” fats and includes very few prepackaged foods. Almost nothing with “empty” calories unless…
  • You don’t have to keep your body “guessing” to lose weight. Zig zagging is not necessary, just a calorie deficit.
  • I ignore sugar. If I’m good on calories, protein, fiber and fat, I’m set.
  • This is one of the hardest things to do. I try to eat dinner a bit later in the evening (around 7 pm) so I’m not actually hungry later, and then leave room in my calories to have one snack of flavored Greek yogurt (feeds my sweet tooth) after dinner. Doesn’t always work, sometimes I binge on raisins or dry cereal (yeah,…
  • Well, you didn’t gain 4 lbs in 3 days, it’s mathematically almost impossible. A bunch of that is going to be water weight. You may have gained some.
  • It can take 2 weeks sometimes for me to see a scale loss. Patience, grasshopper. Weight loss is not linear.
  • My advice to you is to join the Planet Fitness in the mall near your home and ask someone there to show you how to use everything. If they have trainers, hire one for 8-10 sessions or so (even if you have to pay this is usually a good investment because you will learn a lot) and ask the trainer to put together a program…
  • I do it first thing in the morning, after peeing and before eating or drinking anything, naked. I get the most consistency that way. I weigh every day, but you have to understand your weight fluctuations to not get discouraged by the ups. Weighing daily for a long time has helped me understand my personal weight…

  • I always thought the advice to aim for no ,ore than .5 pound per week when you only have 10-15 pounds to lose was so you could preserve muscle while burning fat. Perhaps that meshes with not having too great of a deficit.
  • I would be sad if I could never eat any pasta, bread, cake or ever go to a restaurant ever again for the rest of my life, and if every breakfast and dinner consisted of the exact same food every single day forever until I die. Has nothing to do with commercialism, eating healthfully or being serious about weight loss.
  • Look at your avatar: “consistency is the key to change.” You have to find the motivation within yourself. How badly do you want it?
  • Did I say hummus was either good or bad for weight loss? Not sure why you felt the need to “correct” my post merely saying that I liked the food.
  • I also hate that recipe builder doesn’t save as you go. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve meticulously weighed and logged a long list of ingredients and then hit a wrong button and everything disappears and I have to enter everything all over again.
  • I hate that recipe builder demands that you enter the number of servings at the beginning. If you aren’t following a recipe (like when I make tuna salad), or if you are modifying a recipe or just throwing something together you have to guess at the number of servings. I wish the number of servings could be entered at the…
  • I love hummus. I mix 1-2 Tbsp into my tuna salad in place of mayo. Hummus is higher in both fiber and protein and provides “good” fats, as well as more flavor.
  • Heritage Flakes brand cereal mixed with Oikos Triple Zero yogurt or sometimes Oikos whole milk Greek yogurt. Banana creme, coconut creme and vanilla are my favorite flavors with cereal. Sometimes one egg with a buttered multi-grain English muffin.
  • My house almost burned down in the Rim Fire. Aside from that, the pollution argument is real. Spend a night camping in Yosemite Valley or drive through my rural area on a permissible burn day smelling the stench from everyone’s debris burns and you will understand.
  • Everything I ate all day was awesome. But my fav was probably the crispy oven fried chicken I made for dinner tonite.
  • The first thing I do when trying to lose weight is to stop drinking completely, except for special occasions. Besides the calories in the alcohol, it dissolves my willpower and I end up eating everything.
  • I agree, special occasions should be enjoyed with abandon.
