My only problem working out at home is that my dog tries to join in. If I'm doing Pilates on the floor he will stand over me and lick my face. :D But I like both gyms, and home/outdoor exercise. Depends on my mood.

It sounds like you might have some form of body dysmorphia. I second @distinctlybeautiful that it often takes a long time to find a therapist that is a good fit. Don't quit on your dreams now. But do put an emphasis on taking care of your mental health.
-
You need to take care of your mental health first of all. You are going through something that would make any person exhausted and depressed. I know you probably go to enough doctors offices, but therapy has been really helpful for me when I was at my lowest emotionally. Hang in there. :)

I admit that I tried it once and I don't recommend it. I lost a tiny bit of water weight that I promptly regained when I started eating again. And I felt physically ill. I wanted to sleep all day. I understand the temptation but it's just not worth it. Plus it should be noted that so-called cleanses do not "detoxify" your…

I think everyone is different. I have never been overweight but like most people I eat food for comfort or if I'm stressed even when I'm not hungry. That's why I'm on MFP-to lose a few pounds and learn to eat when I'm actually hungry. In my case I eat a light breakfast (whole grain cereal) light lunch (usually some whole…

Don't be too hard on yourself. I think most people go over occasionally. Unless you make a habit of it you will probably still lose weight. Even if I sometimes go over, I find that tracking keeps me honest and I lose weight even if I'm not perfect about it.

@mrsroddy1228 Jsyk if you are thinking about getting tested for celiac you may want to do that before trying the elimination diet. The test won't work unless you've been consuming gluten regularly. Hope you find something that works for you.
-
I have never heard of this. I have celiac disease so I can't eat gluten. A lot of medications can cause dry mouth and of course not drinking enough water could be a cause. If you think you have an intolerance to gluten you should see a doctor but if that's your only symptom I'd be surprised if gluten is the cause. Sorry I…

http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/adult-health/expert-answers/sleep-and-weight-gain/faq-20058198 There is a pretty strong correlation between lack of sleep and weight gain. Its probably because several appetite suppressing hormones are produced during sleep. Therefore you have increased appetite if you don't…

A lot of people gain weight after diagnosis. I gained some but I was also a teenager at the time so it's hard to say. It makes sense because previously your intestinal villi were compromised and you weren't absorbing all the nutrients from food. Now that you are gluten free you will start absorbing nutrients like a healthy…

Weaning off Effexor is super hard. I did it about six months ago but I might have weaned myself a little fast. I was also on the medication for more than a decade. My weight didn't change during withdrawal. I suspect the side effects of weaning (which for me were headaches, nausea, anxiety, and insomnia) are causing you to…

@christinev297 The only types of milk I've seen are either low fat (either 1% or 2%) fat free (skim) and whole milk. It says the percentage usually in smaller print. And I second what everyone else has said that the cream some Americans like in their coffee is half & half rather than pure heavy cream.
-
@hekla90 I agree. I'm not skinny by any means but BMI is just a guideline. I can't see why being slightly below 'normal' would be more of a problem than being slightly above. Especially if you have the muscle and energy to exercise like you do. Obviously eating disorders are something very serious (two of my family members…

I'm wondering if many of the differences in coffee add-ins are regional even within one country. I'm from the U.S. and I perceive milk as being the most common thing though cream or half and half are also used. I've never been served coffee with whipped cream on top (though it does sound delicious) Espresso drinks like…

I don't really think we should become complacent about bullying just because 'the world won't change'. And, yes, when people are publicly shamed for their weight that IS adult bullying. I have never been overweight per se but I have been bullied even in college for having a large nose, something I can't change unless I…

@francheska175 I was also really overwhelmed when I got diagnosed with celiac 8 years ago. A good place to start is celiac.org (Celiac Disease Foundation) but I highly recommend that you make an appointment with a nutritionist. He or she can help you understand how to avoid gluten and still get the proper nutrition. For…

I wouldn't worry too much about it. In my case coffee in moderation does seem to have an appetite suppressing effect. I drink about 4 shots of espresso a day with skim milk and no sugar (The caffeine in 1 shot of espresso is roughly equal to that in 1 cup of coffee) Plus coffee keeps me energized during workouts so I burn…

Are you talking about bloating due to gas or just appearing bloated due to where your body fat is located? Are you eating a lot more dietary fiber than you used to (especially vegetables)? That can take a while for your system to get used to. I have IBS so I got visibly bloated some days even at my ideal weight. Drinking…

I would see a doctor. Peeling nails can be a sign of a health condition. When you say you lost 25 pounds over the summer do you mean over 2 months or longer than that? Maybe you lost weight too rapidly or you are missing out on nutrients? Sorry I don't have any better answers.

I appreciate the feedback. Of course even if I think my daily routine is more or less the same there are always going to be variables that change how my workout feels. I'm a complex organism after all. :) @JoRocka I do understand what you mean when you say workouts shouldn't continuously get easier or we wouldn't be…

This is the third post with the same pics and the same rate my body question in less than 24 hours. Let's stop indulging her with responses. OP I really hope you seek help for your body image issues. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
-
Hey you already posted this!? ("How out of shape am I" in the motivation forum) This isn't that type of site where we rate people's bodies. It's about support for health and what you're doing is obsessing about other people's perceptions of your body. I really hope you can learn to love yourself regardless of weight. If…

If you need other people to validate you then I think you need to work on your mental health first. And I say that with complete respect. I have suffered from poor self esteem and depression for most of my life. Sometimes I would blame my lack of self confidence on not being ten pounds lighter but that was never the real…

Thanks. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Sometimes I do push myself too much. I probably just need to alternate workouts so my muscles don't get too fatigued. Sleep is also something I didn't think about. I do have insomnia pretty often. I should definitely get my sleep in check.
-
Maybe take a break from recording and use your intuition for a few days. Calorie counting can become obsessive which for certain people can lead to eating disorders. Not that MFP isn't great but it's not worth sacrificing your mental health. Not trying to say you have an eating disorder- just speaking from personal…

Wow that sounds just awful. I really feel for you because I love fresh fruits and veggies. I like light string cheese or plain Greek yogurt with honey as a snack. Can you eat nuts? Almonds are a good snack.
-
Thanks for the responses. It's probably just my moms voice in my head that made me hesitate but I should listen to my body and only eat when I am hungry. ahoy_m8 I have heard a lot about intermittent fasting and i didn't even think about this being in the same category. I will look at some of the other posts about it.

Don't weigh yourself so often. It would drive anyone crazy. Within a given day I can vary by 4 pounds. Be patient

Also as someone currently studying to be a doctor I have to tell you that a doctor's word is not gospel. Like all human beings they can be wrong. If a doctor is diagnosing patients with diseases that are not accepted by the rest of the medical/scientific community then you should probably get a new doctor. I am not trying…

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/addisons-disease/expert-answers/adrenal-fatigue/faq-20057906 Here is a link to a Mayo Clinic page explaining that adrenal fatigue is not an accepted medical diagnosis. Is it possible your endocrinologist said you have adrenal insufficiency (where your body doesn't produce…
