I started at 272 and it took about 40 pounds before people started noticing. For the first 40 pounds they would say things like "did you change your hair?" they couldn't seem to put their finger on what was happening.

I go for a walk, followed by a FAR-Infrared Sauna, followed by a warm bubble bath. By the time I'm finished (takes about an hour total) I'm relatively stress-free for the rest of the day!

I struggle with an all-or-nothing mentality at times also, and I find that when I have an all-or-nothing attitude I usually end up with nothing! So yes, start right now and make your first commitment to "log all your food" on MFP. If you are eating out or eating at a friend's house, simply take a quick picture of your…

Thanks for your post asking for opinions! I love reading all the differing views on juice diets. When I hear the words "Juice Diet" I can't help but remember the scene in the movie "So I Married an Axe Murderer" with his Mom going on the "Garth Brooks Juice Diet." It's a great flick! Regarding juice diets in general, you…

I agree it's time to invest in an inexpensive food scale for your home. Tracking is not accurate at ALL unless you truly are weighing your solid food. Let us know how it goes!

Hunger is a bummer, for sure, what I've always done when was hungry (but still on my eating plan) was to drink a big glass of water and wait for 15 minutes. Sometimes if we are "light" on our water for the day we are not giving our bodies enough water for the fat-burning process. It takes "expendable" water in order to…

LOL. Peeps Cleanse. I just "got" it. I'm a little slow.

Everyone's metabolism is VASTLY different, both in the number of calories they burn at rest but also the number of calories (and fuel type) they burn during "exercise". Unless you go to a metabolic laboratory and get your INDIVIDUAL levels tested either by indirect spirometry or in a metabolic chamber both at rest AND…

Ooooh this is a tough one. Everything is actually EASIER now that I've lost 150 pounds. Let's see.... I hate it that I can ride in a hot-air balloon or on a carousel now. Having fun SUX! =) I hate it that my size 44H bras don't fit anymore. I hate it that my chest doesn't reside on my steering wheel when I drive anymore. I…

My confession: I don't do it so much anymore, but I used to go to the movies and buy a LARGE popcorn WITH extra butter, and a package of DOTS. I'd eat them TOGETHER. Tastes like those old-fashioned popcorn balls I had as a kid! Last night at Mad Max:Fury Road I took my Medifast Parmesan Cheese Puffs and my key-chain bottle…

Here's the skinny: Weight loss surgery is a valuable tool but it does not guarantee you won't gain weight back if you return to the habits you were practicing pre-surgery. I used the Take Shape For Life Program (no surgery) to lose 150 pounds, but the product we use (Medifast) are the same products that bariatric surgeons…

That is so interesting, I utilized Take Shape For Life, which is a subsidiary of Medifast, and while I love the program the Medifast support site ALSO shut down a bunch of it's features! I wonder what's going on? =) Good thing you found us here! =)

Congratulations on committing to such a goal! Here is the bottom line, no matter where you "land" on your wedding day, you will NEVER regret embarking on the journey! Like the quote I love to use so much "I really regret eating healthy today" - said no one, EVER. =)

Here is me raising my hand! =)

Hey there! I love this site and use it to track my intake, and my exercise! I also love the sense of community here! Welcome back!

Oh my goodness that is AWESOME that you are starting your health adventure! How exciting! I was in the same situation awhile back and I realized that I had NO ENERGY anymore to even take care of my family! I had to take care of me, I had to WANT to take care of me in order to have anything left for anyone else! Wishing you…

I had PCOS but have been asymptomatic for it since losing 150 pounds. Your theory makes perfect sense, and it has been proven that weight loss can minimize or reverse PCOS, I certainly found this in my case! Good luck in your efforts, wishing you much success!
