I'm a big fan of the Genepro too. I often mix it in with soup- in creamy soups it really is totally undetectable. I've also been known to mix it into my kids' blue box macaroni and cheese to give them some decent protein with their carbs and sodium ;) Neither kid has noticed at all. I've also successfully mixed it into…

I'm 9 months out and pay for it if water is too cold or I drink too fast. Also try some crystal light or propel in your water, it helps some people with WLS have water sit better.

They found one during my mom's RnY, but it was very large and unfortunately the repair didn't hold. She ended up going back in after a few month of nausea and an endoscopy that showed it had re-herniated, and then went in for a separate procedure to deal with the hernia about 5 months after her RnY. It has held since (just…

Welcome! I did a sleeve last April, and was where you are now last year. It is an amazing ride, and there are some really awesome people in here. Read lots, and ask questions when they come up

If I eat carbs the way I want to, I'm not going to hit my protein goals. Most days I roll 30-50g of carbs in order to hit my protein and water at 9mo post sleeve.

I'm 9 months post sleeve and can eat chicken, so long as it is tender (the crockpot is my friend) and juicy. If it is dried out, it sits like a brick in my stomach. My mom is 18mo post bypass and still cannot tolerate chicken. She can do fish, hamburger, steak, turkey, slow cooked pork, and bacon fine. Chicken, pork chops,…

I was down 60 of the 100lbs I had to lose at 4mo

I'm so glad others are finding this perspective helpful! I was getting discouraged at the last 20lbs, but then realized that complacency and giving up wasn't the solution. I never want to go back to constantly be carrying the equivilent of my twin 5yos on by back, all day every day

My doc had me go into surgery without weaning medications. Many meds do have a liquid form if the pill isn't small enough to be swallowed in the early stages. Also, many weight related meds are cut back if not cut out before you leave the hospital. I would call your psychiatrist and specifically ask about liquid or even…

I'm so sorry. I'm a VSG patient, so no banding experience. I wish I could offer solid advice but the best I have is possibly doing the 5 day reset and then working back through the stages again. Have you considered an band to RNY or VSG revision? There are a few people here who have done them.

Take slippers or comfy shoes with room for your feet to swell from the fluids you're pumped full of to the hospital. I hated walking in the no skid hospital socks and was very grateful for my own slippers and a lightweight robe to wear over the gown before they pulled my IV while walking. Don't bother with a laptop or even…

Also, if you're still having your monthly cycle, that can still cause you to go up in weight after your surgery. It doesn't matter how little I'm eating, I retain 3-5lbs of hormone/water weight every.dang.cycle after surgery. It will drop back off, but it is one of those monthly blips on the scale that I don't bother…

You may want to try some propel or crystal light in your water to see if it helps. My mom had an RNY about 8 months before I had my sleeve, and to this day she cannot drink water straight, it makes her nauseous. Add a bit of propel to her water, and it goes down fine. No idea why, and she doesn't need it full strength…

I was tired for a long time post op, but it did eventually get better. I didn't have one day that I woke up and suddenly had a ton of energy, but i did gradually work back up to my normal and then beyond energy levels.

Another meal that worked really well for me was cold premade deli soups that you just need to reheat. I'd heat those up, add a scoop of musclegen genepro protein powder (unflavored and mixes in super smooth) and eat 1/2 cup of that for a meal during my soft food phase. Broccoli and Cheese, potato, and chowders all went…

Eggs took me awhile to be able to handle. Cottage cheese, greek yogurts, tuna salad, and sauteed shrimp were all early successes for me.

There is some truth to finding people to be open minded. My husband and my 5 year old twin have been stretched this year into trying new (healthier) foods, and they actually like them! Yes, it means me making more of an effort in cooking, but we've added new grains, veggies, and dishes to our rotation that a year ago…

Something that the psychologist said to me at my mental health screen pre-surgery was "This surgery will change your relationships with yourself, your family, and with food. Some of those changes will be positive, and others may be negative. Usually, your strong, healthy relationships will become stronger, but those less…

Dear Acid Reflux, We were doing so well and you were going away. WHY are we back to newly post op levels again all of a sudden? 1 zantac this morning, 3 tums this afternoon, and I'm still miserable. We'd been at peace for 3 months. Why this sudden flare up???

There is a very common stall that happens at around 3-4 weeks post-op. Its your body going "OMG, what have you done to me" and trying desperately to hold on to all the water, fat, etc that it can. Give it a week and it will start to drop off again. I had this, it freaked me out too, and it resolved itself and I've gone on…

I've privately told my family and most of my friends who I'm close to. I've not opened up on FB about my journey, as like when my husband and I went through fertility treatments to get pregnant, it isn't their business. I'm now 80lbs down postop, and am getting some comments, but like many others are just saying I'm eating…

My husband is on night shifts this week for his work, and while I usually grab clothes the night before and put them in the bathroom, I forgot to last night. So I groped in the dark for pants and a sweater and quietly put them on. Then I realized my pants were too long. One of us had put a pair of DH's jeans in my drawer,…

Take it slow and listen to your body. I always try to stop eating a bite too soon than eat a bite too many. You'll get the hang of it, but know that they mean it (especially now while you're healing) that a tablespoon or 2 of a soft food is probably the most you can comfortably eat. Chew slowly, take your time, and stop…

The chewables didn't sit well with me at all, so I do a Costco brand Energy Multivitamin once a day at breakfast(I break it in half so it doesn't risk getting stuck). Then I do a calcium at lunch and again at dinner. Then Biotin, vitamin d, and potassium before bed.

I'm lucky in that I'm one of 3 adults at my family's Thanksgiving table who has had some kind of WLS. So much of what we're doing is low carb/low sugar because of that. Turkey first, I will have a bit of my lower carb, high protein stuffing we make, a few veggies, and skip the rolls, potatoes, etc. I've also made a sugar…

Many of us have a stall 3-6 weeks post op. I've not heard of a single person on here who didn't break it eventually and start losing again. Your body has just gone through a huge change, and is in a bit of shock. When it realizes that it really isn't going back to how things used to be, it will start losing again. Eat your…

What got me through so much was buying premade soups, pureeing if needed, heating up 1/3 to 1/2 cup of them thinning with milk if needed, and adding a scoop (or even 1/2 scoop) of Musclegen Genepro protein powder to the heated soup. Broccoli cheese, potato soup, and corn and chicken chowder were all favorites (and I still…

Tonight is meatballs and spaghetti sauce for me, spaghetti for the rest of my crew with spinach salad and cottage cheese

I miss spicy. It ramps my heartburn up so badly now that I suffer all night even with meds. So back to mild buffalo wings and curries :(
