  • Womens sizing varies so much by brand, cut, etc. I have everything from an 8-12 in my closet that all fit me right now. I mostly wear 10's, so that's where I start when trying things on, but it isn't always the right size for every garment.
  • Do a search for Calorie Bank and add however many 100 cal units you need to get over 1000 for the day.
  • Looks awesome, and I'm so glad you liked them! They've joined our weekly dinner rotation

  • I haven't tried it with other pieces, but I bet it would work, just a longer cook time if doing bone in thighs or breasts. I would check them with a meat thermometer while you're playing with it to figure out the right time. Then please let me know! ;)

  • Everything @cmchandler74 said. Find a non straw water bottle you love, and hopefully is dishwasher safe. 15 months out, I still use one nearly every day to have water when I'm out running my kids around. Be prepared for your tastes to change, and I'll echo the sentiment to not buy much before your surgery for after. The…
  • Oven 'fried' chicken wings. I still love wings, but ever since my surgery, the grease from the deep fryer just tore my stomach apart, so I thought I'd have to give them up forever. Then I found this recipe- and it is not only healthier, but still the crispy skin wings I loved, without the extra grease on my stomach. I mix…

  • Colorado Springs, co Gastric sleeve in April 15 Starting weight of 260, current weight of 167 Currently I'm doing really well with my food choices but struggling getting back on the exercise wagon after falling off the spring when we moved across town and with the end of school and family vacations
  • We just got back from 10 days in Alaska. Not only did I hike a ton, but when my daughter fell at the top of a 3300 foot mountain and hurt herself, I was able to help get her down the mountain in less than 35 minutes. No way could I have gotten myself down, much less helped carry a 6yo down in that kind of time pre surgery.…
  • Like others, I really try to avoid simple carbs, or make them a very small part of my meals. My carbs are nearly always under 50g per day, usually in the 20-30 range. Protein first, veggies, then carbs.
  • I hope it went well! My own pillow, slippers, chapstick, lotion, and my phone with a long charging cord and ear buds was about all I needed other than some comfy clothes- I wore yoga pants, shelf tanks, and a comfy zip hoodie the 2 days I spent in the hospital post op and was glad to have my own clothes.
  • Oh no! I'd probably stick to the cottage cheese. Do you have a locker or desk drawer you can keep some shelf stable emergency food in? Premier protein shakes, flavored tuna pouches, etc
  • I do go to the gym usually, but there are times that life just doesn't allow that to happen. When the weather is good, I walk the dog, but when the weather is bad, I have a sick child, am super busy, etc. I have a yoga mat and will do a Youtube yoga or pilates workout for 30 minutes. Something is better than nothing, and…
  • Good luck! I'm not familiar with Beaumont, but there are many threads of advice to people just starting the process in here. This is a great time for you to really work your pre-op diet, and start making the lifelong changes that need to be made. Read lots in here, past threads are an absolute goldmine of encouragement and…
  • Yes! My trainer is slowly working me up to full planks (I'm still on my elbows but up on my toes) and also doing a bunch of core work on a balance ball and I'm noticing improvement too!
  • @rpyle111 is the poster child for maximizing your preop time. Use this time to really research the surgery and life after and to start making the habit changes needed to make it work for you. There are tons of great and helpful people here, so please ask questions and if you have some time, read the past threads. This is a…
  • Welcome~ I'm a SAHM to a set of twins, and had a gastric sleeve in April 2015. I've gone from 250 to 165 as of this morning, and am now working out in the gym 5 days a weeks and wearing a size 8/10. Especially if your kids are little, I will recommend having help for 2 weeks post surgery as you won't be able to lift and…
  • This was me the first week of January. I'd lost a ton of weight (80lbs) over the previous 8 months, but knew I needed to get into the gym for heart health, strength, and help getting the last 20lbs off. We've been YMCA members for awhile, so I went through them and first met with the trainer without working out at all. I…
  • My current lunch addiction http://www.organizeyourselfskinny.com/2014/10/07/turkey-avocado-and-hummus-roll-ups-no-bread/
  • The little baking I do is usually was granulated Splenda. I'm not a big baker, so I've not played with other sweeteners.
  • I try to ignore BMI. My gym offers body assessments that track lean body mass, fat, Muscle and water. I use it once a month through my training program and am looking for increased muscle and decreased fat month over month.

  • I am most consistent and feel my best if I go right after I drop my kids off at school- at the gym by 8am and done/showered by 9:30 to get on with my day. I fail miserably at trying to get up and go before my husband goes to work, and I'm exhausted by the time the kids are in bed at night.
  • All of this. I was throwing away balls of hair after every shower that would collect at the drain. Around 7mo post VSG, it stopped falling out as bad. I'm now 10mo out and have 2" whispies along my hairline from where the hair is coming back in. I also cut my hair from bra strap length to just above my shoulders and added…
  • Looking great! Keep up the good work!
  • I would also call your bariatric surgeon- they may have a different vitamin regimen they want you to go on for the duration of your pregnancy that goes above and beyond "Make sure you're taking a prenatal with folic acid". That was one of the big things my surgeon drilled into me pre-op: Avoid pregnancy for at least 15…
  • You look great Klingerman! We had a blizzard that dropped 18" of snow (yay Albuquerque lows) 10 days ago while my MIL was in town, and I was able to fit in the middle seat of DH's Subaru's backseat when we needed his AWD vehicle. Kicker: I had carseats on either side of me for our twins. I never dreamt any adult, much less…
  • I'm 10 months out and between 1200-1400 cals per day, and doing hour long workouts 4-5x/wk. I stalled the first 5 weeks of working out, I suspect as my body adjusted and I started to build muscle and lose fat. Now I'm losing again, and feel really good. I posted this article yesterday in another thread, but will leave it…
  • I also had a patch, plus IV meds. They did their best and worked through several concoctions for me. I knew it was a risk for me, as did my surgeon and anesthesiologist. It wasn't fun, but they had it mostly under control by day 2, but opted to keep me one more night without the IV meds to be certain I wouldn't go back…
  • I wasn't in a ton of pain, but I was very nauseous the first 3 days post op. I spent 3 nights in the hospital before they were confident they could keep my nausea under control using oral meds and I'd be able to get my liquids in. I have had that reaction to anesthesia previously, so it was on everyone's radar that it…
  • My nurse at the surgeons' office finally got back to us as she was out last week. She sent us this article, that while pretty technical, I thought was interesting enough to post for those who are interested in jumping down the food/nutrition/exercise rabbit hole with me.…
  • Before and During- 80lbs down, 15 lbs to go!
