  • It seems like the calories burn might be over-estimated. Are you really burning 350 calories with 3500 steps? That seems like a large number of calories to burn on that few steps. Are you actively, aerobically swimming for the entire hour? That's a pretty taxing workout, even for a very fit and experienced swimmer. I…
  • Me too, I was diagnosed at age 12, so I've pretty much always dealt with it. People are always surprised to hear someone diagnosed so young. Now in my 30's I have also been diagnosed with R.A. I guess I'm just a lifelong old lady!
  • I tend to eat lunch as my biggest meal. Im usually not very hungry until 11 or 12, so I have a small breakfast like a banana and nuts or a protein shake. I tend to eat a small dinner early (around 5 or 6) and a light snack after evening workout. If I try to push my dinner back, I feel awful and I end up snacking a ton and…
  • If you're concerned about chest pain, see a doctor. Most likely at your age it's nothing, but could be something serious.
  • You can also do resistance training without weights. I love my body lastics resistance bands. They are portable, affordable, and store easily.
  • I love the salads at wendy's. Panera's soups and sandwiches are awesome. Sometimes when I'm on the go I will just duck into a grocery store and get sushi or veggies and hummus.
  • I weigh daily, mostly so I can make sure it fluctuates back down from the higher numbers. I only log my lowest number, because it is the number I'm trying to get below.
  • 5-10 lbs if all goes according to plan.
  • As an RN, I have taken care of far too many patients who have complications 5, 10 years after gastric surgery for weight loss. I would avoid it at all costs.
  • I have hypothyroidism, so I'm always freezing!
  • I'll just eat what I want, try not to get too stuffed, and keep my workouts on track. Shouldn't be a big deal.
  • Why would you tell someone to eat as much as possible? They are trying to stay on track. Walking around disney doesn't burn as much as you'd like to think.
  • I've found that eating a healthy breakfast in-room, combined with smart choices in the parks, helps a lot. Avoid the soda for tains. My favorite healthy meals.in magic kingdom are at Columbia Harbor house. They have grilled salmon, a veg sandwich, and veg chili on the menu. I also like cosmic Ray's for the rotisserie…
  • I wish I could just dump all the bad stuff. But I have a DD who is 3 and she eats that stuff (and has the metabolism for it!) Not always, mind you, but she does get a small treat after a healthy meal. She eats the very lean, healthy meals that I eat, and her dessert is usually a piece or two of fun-size candy , or a…
  • I have to be strict. I can still go out and still have occasional wine, but I have to plan for it and account for it in other ways, calorie-wise. That may mean an extra hour at the gym, may mean eating lighter meals the rest of the day. Even when eating out, I try to choose healthy options. Currently, I'm trying to lose a…
  • I'm not vegan, but I eat vegetarian every other day. I get my protein from beans, quinoa, dairy ( Greek yogurt is awesome)
  • There are seemingly healthy options, although I don't know the nutritional info. Columbia Harbor House in magic kingdom has vegetarian chili that is tasty, and a salmon meal as well. I usually eat one of those. Cosmic Ray's has rotisserie chicken. Several snacks carts have hummus and veggies, fruits, etc. Really, you can…
  • Anyone? It's really starting to worry me. I miss having some appetite!
  • See an endocrinologist for sure. Untreated hypothyroidism will set you up for a host of health problems down the road. On the other hand, if the endo no agrees that you don't need treatment, believe them. Thyroid meds can cause problems if you don't need them.
  • A) I don't don't follow any special diet. I try to eat healthy and stay within my calories. I was just pointing out why it probably works. B) I'm glad your diet works for you. It won't work for everyone. Some people need more rigidity than others. So, yay for you and what works for you, go get a sticker of something. But…
  • Sounds like the leptin diet works because: 1) most peoples' after dinner eating is usually high calorie ( think cookies, ice cream, chips, buttered popcorn). Skip that, and you Eliminate those calories. 2) Eating 3 meals a day ensures you are eating eating at regular intervals, so you are less likely to binge. 3) No large…
  • I spend a ton of time outdoors, so I was kind of surprised that my levels were low. I didn't know they made drops. I bought pills but I will look for drops.
  • No, I don't use a food scale. I don't ever remember to buy one when I'm out!
  • I found an app I like better for tracking. The 0.01 servings was because I preloaded for the day and the didn't eat it, I couldn't figure out how to delete
  • I can't wait to not be ashamed/embarrassed by my weight. I feel like such a failure for gaining weight and not being able to lose it.
  • Hmm. I wonder why the published studies showed a greater weight loss in the group that was supplemented with vitamin D vs placebo, given that all other factors ( calories and activity level included) were accounted for. I do workout. I track my calories. I stick to 1200-1500 per day depending on my activity level. And the…
  • I had a big problem with afternoon/early evening bingeing. I work until 7:30 pm most nights and would try to wait until I got home to eat dinner. That led to a lot of snacking between 3pm and 6 pm. Now, I take a healthy dinner with me and eat it earlier than normal, usually around 5-5:30. I've found that my blood sugar…
  • How old are you? I only ask because while it may NOT be causing you problems yet, obesity will catch up with you. Diabetes, heart problems, blood clots, breathing trouble, pancreatitis, knee problems, eventually you will have health problems from obesity. Good for you for working on it and losing the weight now, before…
  • I would like to weight 130 lbs in 10 weeks time. I currently weigh 139. Slow and steady, but it's coming off.
  • Fiber. Seriously. Eat a fresh pear every morning, drink some water, you will feel full all day. Maybe a bit gassy, but not hungry. very cheap, very healthy, and very delicious
