  • My scale has barely budged- a measly 3 pounds lost from 4 weeks of healthy eating, intense workouts, and will power. I'm still waiting for the dramatic difference. maybe after 8 weeks... sigh...
  • I do feed my body right. I am very careful about my food choices. I try to get a variety of foods into my diet. I eat when I'm hungry, I don't eat when I'm not. I jog a lot harder than my comfort level. I take days off now and again. I am not going to damage my heart by losing 20 lbs. If I were anorexic/severely…
  • vacuuming for 20 minutes hardly counts as cardio. You can run, do jumping jacks, run stairs, jump rope for free. Watch free cardio videos. Check out plyometrics. You can do this. As for 2 lbs in 3.5 weeks, that's not bad. I'm averaging .5 to 1 lb per week. Slow and steady.
  • I like to drink Special K protein shakes for breakfast. I'm not very hungry in the mornings, so the shakes give my a serving of nutrients and 10 grams of protein to start my day. But I still have to eat healthy and exercise and watch my portions the rest of the day. They aren't magic, I mainly do it to keep myself from…

  • I'my sorry you're injured. Maybe it is something that will heal quickly. Good luck with your doctor!
  • I honestly think that for me, the biggest appeal is that it's me time. I'm not focusing on taking care of a 2 year old, or being a nurse to people who can't care for themselves, or being a supportive wife to my husband in grad school, or being a chef and housekeeper to a busy family. When I'm running I can totally focus on…
  • When I was vegetarian (for 5 years) I ate tons and tons of beans. Home made vegetarian chili, White Chili, Black beans on rice with salsa, Butter beans with Mrs. Dash on them, chickpeas on my salad, threel bean salad. Beans beans beans for protein!
  • I recently read some very helpful advice on here. A poster said that when they have the urge to eat, they ask themselves "How long has it been since I last ate?" if less then 2 hours, then the urge isnot due to hunger. drink a glass of water and move on. At 2 hours, if hungry, have a small snack. I have stopped myself from…
  • I don't think I'm at at risk of injury from my jogs. My legs are fairly strong, due to work 12- 16 hour shifts that require 5-10 miles of walking. I tend to stop my jogs due to other priorities ( need to attend to my kid, or the sun is setting, have to get to work, etc) than due to fatigue. Strength workouts, particularly…

  • For $40 on Amazon you can get a good set of resistance bands, and an other $15 will get you a ropeless jump rope. You can do amazing workouts. Jumping rope is great cardio, and harder than it sounds. The resistance bands can meet your weight training needs. I would also invest in a large full body mirror to watch your…
  • Can you find small ways to cut back in your calories? Maybe instead of Crispy Apple Slices (whatever those are), just eat a real apple? Have 1 crumpet instead of 2. Use half the amount of granola. It looks like you eat a lot of very processed food ( sausage, yogurt, cottage cheese, crispy apple slices, peanut…
  • my goal puts my BMI at 21.9. Currently at 25.6 BMI.
  • Pickles or cucumber slices with salt help me when I have that "I need to snack" feeling. Very low calories and very satisfying.
  • Drinking a small glass of milk late at night helps me feel full and I sleep better, and doesn't cost me a lot of calories.
  • See the nutritionist. Stick to you rcalories.Think about adding in exercise. I have a physically demanding job too, I walk 5-10 miles each shift, along with the ups and downs of lifting patients, helping people to the bathroom, assisting with Physical Therapy. It isn't enough. I still have to watch what I eat religiously…
  • Probably not. But right now my plan is mostly just "burn calories" by incorporating as much activity into my day as possible. I know that when I get to the "increase muscle" phase. I will have to tone down the cardio.
  • I do a lot of salads at lunch, but that's because I love salad. I also eat soup quite a bit. but you can have anything, just eat 400 calories worth.
  • Don't skip a beat, just pick right up where you left off. Your first week will be harder, but then you should be right back at normal. A weekend of over eating and a week of inactivity aren't enough to completely ruin your journey. Just get back to it and stay focused on the long term goal!
  • If you are helping others lose weight, then you know what you need to do, you are just having trouble staying accountable. I would suggest finding someone in your field that can be your weight loss coach. Maybe they will offer a professional discount? I get it. I'm a nurse I educate people daily on a proper diet and…
  • For at home strength, I have a set of resistance bands. It is amazing how many strength exercises you can do with a good set of resistance bands. And they cost less than a month at the gym!
  • Are you seeing a counselor to help with your issues surrounding control and food? A counselor and a nutritionist might be your best bets for a healthy, long- term lifestyle goal.
  • I try to avoid fast food. Too much temptation to eat unhealthy foods
  • I love food and love experimenting with food, so I like to try 2-3 new recipes each week. I love experimenting with different fish, marinades. I also try a new veggie most weeks. Keeps things interesting while staying healthy. I try to limit processed food as much as I can. And I try to make a healthy change to my overall…
  • my snacks are usually a prepackaged piece of extra sharp cheddar or a pear or Greek yogurt. sometimes 150 calories of chips and salsa
  • today I am using my phones pedometer to track my steps. I don't want to up my activity status because most days I do not work grueling 16 hours shifts. I logged half half the activity as exercise at a liesurely pace.
  • would you log all of it? log it as miles?
  • If you usually only eat 200 calories for lunch then then you aren't eating much. Can you eat half your burger and half your cookie?? It wouldn't put you under 200, but it would be much closer than if you ate whole portions of everything, and would be closer in volume to your normal lunch.
  • I swear I must have the world's smallest bladder. If I drink water during a run, I have to pee halfway through. Which is unfortunate, Because My halfway point is over a mile and a half from my house, with nowhere to go in between (well, there is the state mental hospital or route back, but no thanks, I'll hold it in). So I…
